Sophy should be not the fastest driver in the world, but more like human. It's not fun when 4 cars go in the line very slow when one car w/o fuel (saw such situaton on Sardegna many times). AI should be more aggressive, but not so scripted

If they only want to create measly new mission but 'harder', no need to create ambitious-but-useless AI but just use rubberbanding without rolling start or just put your car in a handicap to others like others being slightly more tuned.

Waste of resources if this supposed super AI is only for small missions.

...so Sophy AI... right... and AI in GT7 is worse then in GTS...
Gonna need to see how GT7 even tops the dumb tortoises I've often contended with in GTS. I could be wrong whenever GT7 materializes (along with a PS5 for that matter) but I feel convinced GTS has the most unchallenging and unspectacular AI I've raced against in ANY GT game for a long while and this is coming from someone has done it in the past 6 main line games.

GT7 AI is certainly leagues ahead of GT6 and GT Sport just by virtue of the fact they don't aggressively slow down for you and actually brake near where they should instead of about 200m beforehand. They are still dreadful, but what the past 2 games offered was extraordinarily bad.

There is fun to be had with the GT7 AI, they have no awareness but we have seen their ability to go quick - the problem there is we seldom experience it due to the dreadful event format and the fact they are still, for whatever reason, gimped in Custom Races to use like maximum 90% throttle and even without that, they don't operate at their max difficulty when set to the highest setting.

We just need an AI which actually sees us on the track...
It does, but it cant magically dissappear or stop a car like it was a tank on metal tracks.
The AI does use your slipstream so it can follow.
The AI does choose attacking lanes, so it knows where you are.
It just happens to still have the same brakes and acceleration as a player.
Not saying it does its job good, but it does its job at least.

None of which explains the fact that GT's AI will still drive into you to try and get back onto a racing line, which has nothing to do with it needing to "magically dissappear or stop a car like it was a tank on metal tracks" and everything to do with it being poorly coded AI, the exact same it true of it sudden and utterly unrequired mid-corner braking!

Yes, some people do have unrealistic expectations of AI at times, but that can't be used to dismiss the very real issues that GT's AI has.

TLDR;
When, if ever, is Sophy (Sony AI) being implemented into the game?

Starting to think nothing will materialize until GT8/GT Sport 2/The Pre Prologue HD

(was on this board some time before but found it faster than the thread itself)
It's in this thread.

It's also an article.

You are definitly living up to your 2nd name GTPEDIA 👍

But it doesn't use the other cars - so many times at Le Mans I've managed to gain places because the leader slows down and refuses to overtake someone a lap down.

Also blue flags mean nothing to the AI

It does, it will move aside conditionally, like not needing to steer off for too long or needing to slow down too much.
I remember less instances of AI not reacting to being lapped than I do remember it reacting as expected.

They still hog the line at Sardegna when you lap them.

The Team Behind GT Sophy - Part 3 - Training a Champion

The ending, when they mention "the race" was only the first part of Sophy - now they need to figure out how to implement it in the game! It was as if they read the bullet points from the ven-diagram slide from early this year - did I miss something while listening?

I really hope this redeems the single player side of GT7, I think a big part of it will be down to the community feeding back to PD what they want from it. For me I would like a scalable opponent that keeps pace with the upgrade path the vehicles go down, no more nerfing vehicles would be great.

I'll believe it when I see it. So far this has all been marketing. When they start running something on hardware that actually approximates a PS5 (or god forbid, a PS4) then maybe it'll be worth paying attention.
And probably not great marketing at that. My YouTube algorithm knows I'm interested in all things GT7, and I believe I'm a subscriber to the Sony AI channel, but I've only seen the video here.

IF "Sophy" results in more realistic A.I. Driving, I'm all for it. Each & every AI Driver should be different, just like their Human Opponents. They should have differing skill levels & weaknesses. They should be able to adapt to differing tracks and conditions. But if a Human Driver is incapable of doing something, the AI should also be incapable of doing the same thing. Just MHO

If they've ran every possibility with the AI I wonder if they can extract some algorithm that would allow the regular computer controlled cars to drive around you instead of the on rails fixed path program running now.

Please make it as good as automobilista 2

(One update per month about AI sometimes more, a small team, small means, shame on you PD)

Sophy will not be implemented on GT7. Because words are BS. Example is seen in how there are no car selling yet until now, it was an April Fools.
