Not really, this is exactly how marketing tie-in's work.I’m hopeful this will have to do with GT7. The timing is pretty coincidental.
Or the most likely one, based on the info we have right now, that it's a marketing tie-in.We know that decent AI is possible on console (a la, project cars and ACC), but maybe it wasn’t achievable by PD standards when taking graphics, frame rates, etc….. for the PS4.
Enter the PS5…..
I’m not privy to all the nerd stuff that taxes the horsepower of processors and such. But maybe PD has been waiting for hardware stout enough to be able to fulfill their needs. And they’ve decided with past titles that they weren’t willing to sacrifice graphics and the like, for an AI that probably 90% of the Gran Turismo target audience is happy with (cause let’s face it… the small minority of “hardcore” GT players will make their way to here, or Reddit…and post concerns in our comfy little echo chambers).
Then again, this could simply be beta testing for the inevitable PS5 pro that’s already built and ready for release 3 years from now. Then Gran Turismo will be able to have the online clout of Iracing or GTS, the physics of ACC or AMS, and the graphics of AMS
My hot take at least
AI and 'road detail' are not the only legitimate issues people have with GT as a series in terms of simulation accuracy, but this isn't the thread for that. The AI is IMHO the "missing link" that if PD got right would enable GT to become a legit option for serious sim racers out there.
Not to mention the fact that the "hurtful" jabs aimed at GT fans since time immemorial would theoretically cease or at least have no foundation.
Oh what a wonderful world it would be for GT fans once again.
EDIT:
I forgot - we need more "road detail" to come through our wheels too. Been hoping for this for a long time...
ThisInteresting little video which tells me about exactly nothing .....
