No. Thats another car. A Datsun 240Z is a Datsun 240Z no Greddy ****. Have never heard of that brand. Would be fun to hear why people lied that the 240Z would be in the game when it isn't
I don't mean to sound rude but have you thought this all the way through?

The GT model has that 'Super- Premium' details, whereas the DC model looks 'Premium' from the PS3 era.

The model could just be sub-divided (double and split polygons) for smoother realistic surfaces and enhanced over just like just like the Premium cars carried over to GT Sport as DLC?

For tessellated car models PD needed to have crafted a very high poly mesh from the start that's accurate to their real-life measurements and then decrease the level of detail from that high poly mesh through tessellation. If you try to do it the other way you end up with lots of uncertainties and potential inaccuracies. That's the reason why absolutely none of the GT5 premiums were tessellated when they were brought over to GT6. Only the new GT6 models were tessellated; they were created in super high poly from the start allowing them to craft as much detail as possible to the real-life counterpart. The returning GT5-super-premiums in GTSport were recreated from scratch, not re-used GT5 models. Most of the GT6 tessellated premiums are re-used in GTSport.

Other games like Battlefield use tessellation differently for the environment where they rely on tessellation to add detail, not subtract from it, because the details there don't require accurate measurements. If it's a flat texture turning into protruding stones or tree bark by using displacement mapping, there's no need for that to be a perfect replica of a real life road or tree.

For a car model, tessellation isn't going to magically add in this type of missing detail and fix measurements in Driveclub's P1 GTR. This needed to be modeled from scratch by hand.

I completely disaegree, imo the sound is great, just needs a better blow-off valve sound and some fine tuning on the shifting.
Im actually very pleased with car, its absolutely amazing...

Definitely.

Anyone that thinks AC has better sound than GT Sport has completely broken ears. One area that no other sim is even close is external sounds when outside the car. Nobody captures the way the sound falls off and reverberates like GT Sport does.

I knew they weren’t DC models. No way they’d allow models with only 250k polys.

Yeah surprise surprise, another person on a forum just spouting off nonsense. Glad they were quickly corrected.

Wow, I never thought we would see "Jenkins" the Cat return!

For those of you curious, I did a story on why this cat (whose real name is "Primary") appeared in Gran Turismo 5 after I met her owner at the Copperbox event. He was heavily involved in the FIA-certified Championship this year, so her addition is probably a nod to his contributions. This may actually be his new cat, named "Secondary".

Best GT Sport update, ever. :D
It was a pleasant surprise indeed. And to think that both cats have been immortalised in a video game is awesome. It's why we love PD.

Obviously not the same models.

So much for the same model being used...

Anyhow, the P1 GTR is a thrilling car to drive; easily the best addition next to the Ferrari F40. The whole experience is something that I've never felt in ANY GAME before, let alone GT Sport. It's one hell of a ride and truly worth the money. The FuguZ is a hoot to drive with excellent balance and a great sound. Having the redline at 9500 RPM is just insane from a straight-six, and really adds to the enjoyment.

Obviously not the same models.

The GT Sport modeling and lookdev (shader/texturing) teams are truly some of the best in the business. Their attention to detail is amazing. And what Kazunori means when he says the assets are overbuilt to 8k level is that when given more processing power and vram, is that all the modeling is done in a way that everything is perfectly subdivideable and models can be perfectly tessellated if rendering at an even higher resolution or when the camera gets closer to an asset. This is a very time consuming process that must be done by hand by the modelers, creating perfect topology that can be subdivided at render time.

It likely also means their textures for each car are much higher than the PS4 and even PS4 Pro can support, so with future hardware these assets should translate nicely going forward without a lot of additional work. Highly likely that any current car in GT Sport will easily be included in any future GT releases, and same goes for any cars they add going forward, which is amazing.

Their super premiums are so impressive. I can't stop looking at the P1  . Kaz said they might need to start all over again in 10+ years but I think he was trolling  . The super premiums look timeless.

Really enjoying the new layouts. The white tunnel is cool, as is the 2 lane bit with the really high walls before the hairpin, and the three right angled corners. The sausage kerbs at the chicane also will cause some carnage for sure. I also don't feel so penned in like @05XR8 says - this is a fast flowing circuit. Much better than I had hoped, by far the best Tokyo layouts. These are way more interesting to drive.

Gave these layouts a try and by far, I found them more fun to enjoy then all of the previous Tokyo Layouts. They feel so much more comfortable to race on and if you nail the chicane on the Outer loop just right, you can get a really good run out of it.

Has PD forgotten Mount Panorama? It barely hosts any GT League events. Personally, I enjoy earning credits in GT League by always trying different cars on different tracks in different series, but the infrequent usage of a few tracks is starting to get weird and frustrating after so many updates.

New tracks, new cars good good, new problem os they have seperated asia and oceania and now I have to restart my damn console after every sport mode race. Ffs PD fix your ****!

I completely agree about the P1 GTR. After reading your comments, I went ahead and got one. It is easily one of the most exciting cars to drive in the game.

The two new circuits are much better than I was expecting. Both flowed very nicely in N300 and also even Gr.4 and Gr.3. That sausage kerb chicane is no doubt going to cause carnage in daily races/FIA races as too perhaps some of the hairpins but that all adds to the fun of it I suppose.

The AMG GT3 sound is so terrible in GTS they really need to fix that. Most noticeable in cockpit view
Don't forget the RCF GT3 etc etc "the best exterior sounds my *****.

I know right ? "A new street circuit is added lets use it on the AMG Grand Prix! , oh what did you say? there is that chicane with that kerb which will most like brake the suspension of the car? nah we don't care its fine , we are supposed to be realistic? whats that?"

Drove the F50 yesterday on the Nordschleife. Managed a 7.28.xxx. Contrary to what many Ferrari lovers say, I really think it is one of the most beautiful Ferraris made. The drive itself was...intense you could probably say. Can't wait to give it another 2h or so on the Ring and to see what it can really do. I could probabky manage a 7.24.xxx max, the aliens a la mikegt3 could likekly make it go unter the 7.20s. Great, great car I love it!
