Gran Turismo Sport 1.34 Update Now Available: Five New Cars, Autopolis Circuit and More

Earlier today, I delivered my fastest laps in the Eunos Roadster and new Supra. Now I offer the SLR McLaren:

Compare with:

1:00.595 - Ford GT
1:00.738 - Honda NSX
1:00.787 - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
1:00.948 - Toyota S-FR Racing Concept
1:00.986 - Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe
1:01.191 - Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
1:01.226 - KTM X-Bow R
1:01.233 - Porsche 911 GT3 (997)
1:01.806 - Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
1:01.913 - Chevrolet Corvette C7
1:01.927 - Dodge Viper GTS '02

The car is an absolute nightmare to deal with, honestly. I couldn't bear to spend dozens more laps hoping for a high-1:00 time.

Autopolis is awesome! Very technical circuit, but without any annoying features (like the chicane of Barcelona or most of Mt Panorama, which I love, but it's annoying). It's the kind of track where different skill levels will really show.

New McLaren Gr.3 is fun to drive. Might consider it for the next Manufacturer's. Great update!

It's supposed to be somewhat realistic.

Much like the GrpC cars with the P1's, the F1 with modern GT500 would be very stupid.
Here’s a hypothetical question.

If PD were to add some 90’s era Super GT cars, like the old Tom’s Supra, or Penzoil R33/34, cars like that...which category would you put them in?

Lol, oopsie.

I think they must be mixed up with Okayama, aka Ide Circuit.
It was Built to Be an F1 Circuit

The owner so desperately wanted it to host F1 even sponsoring the Benetton team in 1991 (the name of the circuit was on their rear wing).
When it opened in 1990, Nippon Autopolis was an ultra-modern facility built to attract Grand Prix racing to the remote mountain region of Kyushu on Japan's southern island. It made it as far as a provisional slot on the 1993 Formula 1 calendar but bankruptcy ended its hopes of holding the Asian Grand Prix. Once hailed as the epitome of a modern, state-of-the art facility, the circuit faded from the international scene after holding just one World Sports Car race in 1991.
Autopolis survived - just - but only after years of near inactivity. By 1995, Hazama had put the circuit up for sale but it wasn't until 2005 that it was finally purchased by Kawasaki who continue to be the major shareholder. Today Autopolis hosts domestic series only, with rounds of the national superbike series, Super Formula and Super GT being the calendar highlights.

Come on PD, I can’t even fit BBS RS mesh wheels on the Miata, even though it was one of the most popular wheel options back in the day? Pathetic.

Oh well. The NA’s been growing on me even if it is a meme on four wheels.

If it really was that way in GT6 it wasn't right. The inside flaps are the ones that should be raised.

I was gonna say that! It makes a lot more sense for the inboard flap to raise when cornering. I hadn’t got round to verifying though, then came across your post!

Anyway, treated myself to the SLR (In silver, mmmmmm), the F1 and of course the MX-5! Not had a chance to drive any of them yet though!

Huayra flaps are glitched. They sometimes open and close instantly. Also as far as i know only the inside flaps opens when turning. Not both.

I’ve watched a lot of racing at Autopolis...every Super GT and Super Formula race since 2014, as well as whatever old school JGTC videos I can find, as well as whatever old D1 and Option Video clips from various drift events held there, and I have never seen the huge grandstand around the penultimate corner populated. It’s a real shame, because it looks like it would be a great spot to get views of many areas of the circuit. It seems like the only grand stand that fills up is the one along the front straight. From my understanding, Autopolis suffers from the same drawbacks as Motegi and Okayama, in that it’s very isolated with limited access in and out. Compare that with Fuji and Suzuka, which are both close to major urban centres, have subway/train stations, and multiple access roads.

With the growing popularity of Super GT outside of Japan (thanks to NISMO TV), hopefully Autopolis starts to gain more global attention, because like Oakayama and Sportsland Sugo, it’s a real hidden gem.

I understand GT LM '95 have been added in Gr. 3. Because I believe that one day PD will add the latest version of the F1, F1 GTR Longtail '97 in Gr. 2.

Car: 1997 McLaren-BMW F1 GTR
Chassis: 26R
Engine: 6.0 L (5990cc) NA V12 (BMW S70/3)
Power: 600 bhp
Torque: 651 nm
Transmission: 6 speed sequential
Weight: 915 kg (2017 lbs)

I have hope this car shows up. After all, it has been in the previous games.

The replay cameras at Autopolis

Yeah! I always loved GT's dynamic replay camera angles, especially since GT4. I remember being so obsessed with the replays in GT4, that I found out that all the camera angles repeated in every 3 laps in most tracks, and the third lap had always the most intense angles to show, so I'd wait for it every time.

Anything before around 2000, (even as late as 2005), should certainly be in Gr.3. The F1 GTR actually raced with around 450bhp and with extra weight in JGTC. The other big European rival of the day was the 911 GT2. Both of these cars are a good couple of seconds slower than the latest GTE/GT3 cars. And that’s with the F1 GTR in full 600bhp GT1 spec.

Gr.2 to fit the tradition, Gr.3 to fit the performance,

But I'll be honest, JGTC is the category I want the most right now. I love these machines so much, that I don't even care about the category it would drop.

Interlagos have 7 laps with different camera angles!

I wonder if PD made a mistake in pricing the GR Supra. Can't be used in the Premium Lounge, even though it, supposedly, fits the entry criteria.

The real car is half the price. Either there's a fix coming or the price will be reset.

They will treat all JGTC cars as Gr.2 - they will then act as backmarkers like in the current Super GT races.

I feel that's fine however these older JGTC cars then need their own events without any other newer SUper GT cars mixed in.

eg. there's the three 2008 SUper GT cars and yet there's been no exclusive events for them.

They could have had a JGTC 10yr anniversary racing series where its just the SC430 vs old R35 vs, old C32 NSX but they havent. So again why are they wasting resources like this???

Further if they add more like say a 1997 Supra or a 2002 R34 JGTC then they need to showcase them instead of just dropping them into Gr.2 to be essentially back- or middle-markers for the 2016 current Super GT class.

I just did the Dragon Tail 10 lap race and its just me in my 2016 LExus RCF passing everyone like they're standing still.

I still havent bought any 2008 JGTC car because what's the point? PD hasnt made owning them crucial.

Owning a current 2016 class SuperGT car IS essential. I expect PD will add older JGTC cars three at a time but in effect, its futile given they havent made buying them necessary.

I'd say it's more about the Lobbys. For those that race with friends on the regular and/or do League races, it makes sense.

The option to choose AI cars in Custom Race, is the missing function. It would solve everything.

Why does the GR Supra hit the limiter before the actual redline? It starts bouncing where the tachometer turns orange well before the redline. All the short gears in this car are distracting when pushing limits on the track.

Yeah custom races with a defined granularity of what cars you want to compete with would solve a lot.

I feel that they should let nonsense races occur since in custom races why does it even matter?

Say BMW i3 vs. Zonda R...

It comes down to the inconsistency of doing a multi-class Mission Race of "30" cars and then not being able to replicate that exact race, IN "Custom Race".
GT League teases this again with multi-class races with new car events and vintage car events.

I mean, we do get a couple missions where we use a super fast car against i3 speed cars. So, that's nearly something we can replicate: A Huayra versus N200 cars.

One another note. Something about this update makes me appreciate all the tracks. Maybe it's the new events or just wanting to try the Supra everywhere. Feels fresh.
