Just downloaded now.
First three cars I got are:
Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track '13
Alfa Romeo 4C GR. 4
Chevrolet Corvette C7 GR. 3

Safe to say I'm very happy with my first three gift cars.

What do you mean? The code I just got works fine, just started to download it. In 48min the 13,3 GB package will be finished downloading.
There have been a few earlier reports of people getting the beta key but being denied entry.
That seems to have passed, but I've no idea whether those people were eventually successful.

Saying that, I've since seen a post or two today complaining of the same thing.
Perhaps there is a daily limit?
Or perhaps it's a glitch.
Or maybe something else at play.

You get qualifying, I think for the Americans, it was 24hrs before race times... so perhaps some point today eh!

Race hosting reportedly starts 15 April 13:00 UTC. This should give EU beta testers 2 hours of qualifying before Race Start scheduled @ 15:00 UTC on week-ends. As annoying as it is (having the game install and no way to play it), I think it's kind of fair since codes are still being handed and will give an equal playground comes the race event.

Maybe when the client launches it tries and connects to a server that isn't on yet due to it actually starting Saturday? Maybe re-launching restarts the connection process and you get one that works? idk

It's 'fair', but it's still gonna lead to a whole lot of people not very comfortable with the car/track and likely some messy races. I realize this is supposed to be a stress test, but you'd also think PD would want to create a good impression of how online racing will go.

I remember seeing somewhere that players could qualify for the daily events 24 hours before the races - is this true or do I have to wait another day before being able to drive?

Agreed. Let's hope uncomfortable people will act with more caution (one can dream can he?). An unbiased playing field could also be required for better evaluation of BOP adjustments or player's rating mechanics...

I Q'ed for today's races last night, after yesterday's races were over. I'll run some more today I'm sure, but I like to get something in just in case I'm late to the party. I was running real late last night, and only got to run the last event.

We are not 100% sure what will happen for you guys, since you are just getting started. But as some others have said, we can start qualifying for the next day's events as soon as they are posted, which tends to happen around the time that the last day's events are ending. I am not totally sure on the exact time, but I would just keep an eye out through the end of your Saturday scheduled race time of day.

This is yet another case of false information being passed along on the Internet. The truth is you have 23 hours to qualify, :D
I've probably not been helping with that, as I have been saying "around 24 hours". One of the reasons is that I can rarely race during the week, the time slots are tough for me to make in my time zone. So as I said above, I was not absolutely sure on the precise timing.

I normally have been setting qualifying laps and tuning my cars later in the evening, most of the time my clock shows 22 hours and change to the first race when I am doing that.

Man, that's a good group of cars. I have that C7, but neither of the others, with 16 cars. At least I am up to 3 each of the Gr.4 and N300 cars now.

I was wondering if US Beta Test has ended or not...
No, it hasn't. The Beta was updated and only Sport mode is available now, no arcade. But we're still going strong, as long as you have online access.

I'll go out on a limb and say there are no bad tracks, but only bad drivers. And I'm definitely one of them. Overly cautious and slow, but when I get in a groove I get tunnel vision and throw my patience out the window.

There may be no bad tracks, but it's pretty much a given that there are a lot of bad drivers out there. Even more so when you consider the market that GTS is pushing itself towards.

I think with that in mind one could say that some tracks are worse choices than others for a game like GTS. When you know that a lot of the population is going to be mediocre, there's some value in choosing tracks where their mistakes aren't going to make life miserable for everyone else.

I'll entertain this thought for a moment. I don't agree that poor driving is the reason for the incidents happening there right now. I would never put the combos up that they have been running for our WRS online events. We have very clean and courteous racers, but it would literally be an accident waiting to happen.

I believe if we were running in Kei cars, Tokyo Expressway would be perfectly acceptable. But it's not appropriate for Gr.4 or N300 cars, let alone Gr.3. They are simply too fast and there's not enough margin for error.

It's sort of like trying to run GT300 cars at Kart Space.

No thanks. 👎

Plus when you only have a few laps, people tend to get more desperate.
This is true, but if you were in Kei cars, they would not be on the limit through those long sweepers. The BoP and different tunes on cars, with some people able to go flat or nearly flat while others are not able to manage it causes big problems.

I would LOVE running around there in a bunch of these, though. :D
