Partnering with FIA (for serious life like racing) and designing everything but not a race track ?
There was said that existing original tracks will be adapted to real world safety standards (what FIA is pushing for)
Thats my main problem with the new Tokyo track+ its boring + all we will get on it will/is be bumper-cars.

Racing on Street Circuits is nothing new

If the FiA don't have a problem with it than why we should? No one is forcing us to race on the track

Ten months after the reveal event, the track is still the same. That's my main criticism to Poly. R246 is obviously a better track but I can accept an "average" track from time to time, I imagine a lot of work on the layout, buildings along the track...
But the scenery?! I'm sure you can read everywhere on the internet how dull the scenery is, too much grey, lifeless. And 10 months later, we still have the same Tokyo. So, I don't expect from Poly to really listen to our feedback.
(I can't believe they actually live in Tokyo...)
This line.
Seriously?

Have you been to Tokyo?
It isn't full of street side cherry blossoms blooming all year round.

So far as the "made in the image of Tokyo’s urban Expressway, recreates the looped central highway" description is concern, they've pretty much nailed it.
Whereas that sentence you've written is well off the mark.

Aftet a few laps of the new Tokyo track, I had written it off. After a few more, I just wanted to log a clean lap and be done. After a few more I had done 15 laps and was addicted. It has an interesting rhythm to it, especially the second half. Don't knock it until you've 1. tried it and 2. found the rhythm :sly:

Edit - the visuals also seem to fit the character of the track in a good way. Maybe I just don't notice much when I'm in Riiiiiiidge Racerrrrrr mode. The second half has some nice views of the city.

Seriously?

As much I'm not keen on this track, even I find that abit unnecessary. Made it seem like he somehow knows more then a company that has been there for quite some time.

Well, you 'raced' on the track... Its a very considered opinion.

Is the only track we know what wasn't in beta yet is Fisherman Ranch? Since testers don't have dirt cars, Tokyo Speedway probably the last one for Stage 1.
We also know about Horse Thief Mile, but it's probably out of beta too, since PD didn't show it in any demos before.

The Tokyo track is a bit bland and dull , just like a Tokyo expressway would be IRL. Do you want Hello Kitty drawings on the walls to make it nice and pretty? Some places IRL are like this. I love the look and concept of the track but it's just my opinion and everyone has the right to dislike/like it. Now we just need an AE86 :)

To be honest, the track as a whole is actually pretty nice. There are really awesome small details here and there, and to drive on it requires very, very good judgement and a lot of skill. In terms of scenery, I stated that there are a lot of small details like billboards and a pretty interesting pit stop location which goes through a toll booth that make it feel better, but I do agree that it could use a little more "spice." Maybe some more colorful advertisements (they're currently very monotonous) and other small details such as that which could take the track from a 7 to a 10.

On another hand, there are moments where you can definitely tell that the track is unfinished. A lot of the background scenery isn't complete.

It's ironic you say that when PD have made tracks in the past based on other real cities like Rome, Hong Kong, Paris and Seattle that have a much more lively atmosphere than Tokyo Expressway. Asking for a race event to actually feel like a race event isn't unreasonable.

They definitely did. I don't think this track is terrible, I was expecting a more technical city track. However, PD wants to have a free flowing track suited well for street legal cars. I respect that.
Yes, normal cars in a normal track. Good combo.

Just finished the race at Brands Hatch and I didn't have that issue this time and got my safety rating back up :D

Had abit of a challenge as I didn't have a Qualifying time so I started last, but I managed to finish 12th without going off the track or hitting anyone. Whatever happened Sunday night, didn't happen this time around 👍

Exhaust blat on down shift! Got the 4C as a gift car today. Heard the blat on down shift. Don't remember that in any previous game in the series.

Tokyo Expressway from what I see is quite challenging. To be honest, I already try it at the public demo last year and the sensation is really good. You have to concentrate hard to apply braking and find a way how to not hit those walls. Also, more effort on steering, which is pretty fun. Something that lacks maybe it need some trackside spectators with adding more flags and banners. Overall, it is a good track and I really enjoyed it 👍

Also, don't forget guys, with track twisty and sharp turns, it would be fun having a Drift session here. I mean come on be able to drift in Tokyo streets is dream come true... (or maybe I'm too much watching Tokyo Drift that's why )

Tokyo looks fine but it's not a PD classic for sure. Let's hope they have much better stuff saved for later - like a night city track :dopey: And I mean night , not these evening shenanigans.

i like evening light too

I wouldn't expect any night tracks. You'd need headlights to be casting light for that and we haven't seen that in any GTS footage yet as far as I know.

I don't know why, but when I hear drifting and the new Tokyo track, I think of Initial D. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

Did a race at Northern Isle Speedway and despite a somewhat glitchy warmup, the race itself was trouble free and again, no flying cars 👍 SR is finally getting back to where it was before.
I did a round of that race, thought it went OK but apparently not, my SR went down. Something about slamming walls = bad. I also became dizzy. Ain't got what it takes! :boggled:

Yeah, I'm also think of that in the same time. Because Initial D is Japanese anime so that might be the case, along with where drifting came from.

Probably unrelated but working headlights have been seen in scape's stills and "gas-station" demo. The "HDR Feel the light" trailer had a few shots with them during racing too. If memory serves me well the Red Bull blog (p)raised night racing at some point, although it's not the first time they mention things we do not see coming. I do hope it's one of the cards PD is keeping hidden; if they can implement night racing and maintain the lighting quality they showed so far it sure should be stunning...

haven't we really?

btw...are you hinting at a possible double standard in peoples' opinion of the track?

There's no possible about it. Some people on this forum absolutely have double standards when it comes to Gran Turismo. Not saying that you're one of them, but they definitely exist.

And that makes me seriously think of Ridge Racer :)

And yet this time I suspect that you're using the comparison as a compliment.

IMO PD made a good job creating the Tokyo Expressway

They did.

It's just that as far as tracks go, even tracks set within Tokyo and being reasonably faithful to real roads, it's pretty bland. There are literally hundreds of parts of Tokyo that would look great with a race track through them, and plenty of roads that offer more than some fast bends with undulation. If what we see was only one layout of a set of Tokyo tracks then I could accept that it has it's place. But for a developer to present that track, in a game that already has few tracks and even less new ones, is just disappointing.

It's very much a case of working for years and saving up to be able to go anywhere and do anything in the whole world, and staying at home to watch the telly. Sure, it's kind of fun. But if a bunch of artists are going to put all that effort in, why not put it into something that shows some passion, some excitement, some artistic value. The Tokyo track is just some prettily rendered apartment buildings and highways, something many of us see every day in real life as it is.

No, it isn't. But the Tokyo circuit is not a street circuit. By even the standards of the lowliest motorsports club in the world, holding an actual race on it is a recipe for getting someone killed.

If the FiA don't have a problem with it than why we should?

Well, because the idea is to get us to pay for the game.
