Oh well, so close, yet so far away from happiness. :D:lol: So even if you get a code from someone, it won't work. (thought about it before, but still wanted to try)

I couldn't stop myself liking your post. hehe :D:cheers:

"Huge strides have also been made in landscape expressions. See each and every leaf on a tree as it sways in the wind. Weather, time, and the age of the tree are considered when reproducing it in the game, right down to its bark. Even the asphalt possesses unique characters, regarding its size, grain and distribution of the asphalt surface. Thanks to advanced data capturing and the perceptional talents of the artists, Gran Turismo approaches landscape reproduction from every aspect."

The 2d sprites are "surprising" to say the least. Beta, placeholder trees, 2d trees before optimisation... better see some 2.5d trees in the final version.

Sorry to bust (or burst?) the Kaz 2D "inception" bubble (a.k.a 2D within 2D within 2D)...But scroll down a little further and it goes on to say...

"While you may not notice the level of detail in the cars and tracks while driving in normal gameplay, you will see it in replays and in Photo mode where you can study the images up close."

So there you have it. This is how it will look in game. You want real bark and leaves? Go to Kaz's beloved Photo Mode.

Just out of interest has anyone seen the pace cars on track or had one gifted yet?

Do you think it will keep your cars & progress if you upgrade to the full game in the near future?👍
I asked on the beta forums, about progress (and garage) transfer  I highly doubt it. But would be a nice little bonus.

finally got in late last night. quick question doesnt the Arcade mode track rotate every day?
No, seems fixed on Brands GP since the beginning.

Yeah my hub should show up tomorrow. I believe I have CronusMax set up properly. I guess it all depends if they still let the G27 wheel be registered as a G29 wheel, when on PS4. I may try it tonight and see if being a beta. I can get lucky and just plug the Fanatec straight into the PS4.

Edit: Done installing, now for some fun time!

Hi just wondering if you tried your Fanatec out with GT Sport beta? I got my invite to the beta last night so I need to know if I should get my wheel setup again. I'm in the same boat as you with Fanatec, might need to invest in a Cronusmax.

Not yet, still waiting for my hub. Was supposed to show up today, but looks like USPS is a day late. Hopefully tomorrow, after work I can try and set it up.

I don't think any of the pace cars will be gifted.

IIRC, the two pace cars that we know of (the M4 and the AMG GT) are both in the N500 category, and all of the road cars in the beta thus far are in N300.

I own a Region 2 PS4 (Middle Eastern Version) and my primary PSN account is US. The code worked fine for me.

I'm just gonna continually get beaten down about being wrong, aren't I?

BTW, finally using that avy I made for you :P

I've been thinking about that, wonder if Phase 2 will introduce more car classes.

It looks like the trees "rotate" to face you so it gives the illusion of 3D sprites. IIRC that is the technique Forza uses and I think it can look fine. Trees look good enough at the ring in my opinion but this generation with games like DC, foliage in 3D spoiled me.

Not that DC's foilage is entirely 3D either -- the tree trunks are 3D models, but the leaves themselves are clumps of rotating 2D sprites with some cool tricks to make the leaves react to light realistically despite being static graphics.

I'd love to see this fully 3d trees in the full game, but then again I'd rather have a consistent performance than an eye candy. You won't notice them while driving at high speed anyway.

It's weird isn't it, how what we're beta testing right now is the first Gran Turismo game on this current generation of consoles. The PS4 launched in 2013, it's three and a half years later and we're only just now testing out the new GT game.

The current Gran Turismo title is GT6. Think about that for a second - that's the latest Gran Turismo game you can go down to the shop to buy or recommend to a friend. And it's out on a console that's probably not even plugged into your TV right now. :boggled:

To put things into perspective, between GT6 and the GT Sport Beta, the following racing games have been released for the current generation of consoles: Forza 5, Forza 6, Forza Horizon 2, Forza Horizon 3, Need for Speed: Rivals, Need for Speed, DRIVECLUB, Project CARS and Assetto Corsa. That's nine games, all released on either the PS4 or Xbox One.

That list was off the top of my head so apologies if I missed any out! If GT Sport releases late 2017, we could also add Project CARS 2, the next Need for Speed game and the next Forza game to that list. So potentially twelve racing games from other developers in between Gran Turismo releases.

The point being it feels kinda weird testing a Gran Turismo game after all of that other great content is already out. It never used to be that way. We'd always have trusty ol' GT to stick into our PlayStation and play. But on the PS4, it's been three and a half years of playing other people's stuff!

On the PS3, at least we had GTHD and GT5: Prologue to tide us over until GT5. And they both released pretty soon after the PS3 came out. This is the first time we've been fully GT-less on a PlayStation console for this long.

I want to make it plain that I am in no way complaining or being butt hurt. Just pointing out how strange it is that Gran Turismo is so late to the party on this current generation of consoles. :odd:

I would prefer the trees of Assetto Corsa, less eye candy and dynamic time and weather.... And rock solid 60 fps.

They haven't done it because GT must look good in order to divert attention from the serious lacks of the game. Because they have talent, resources and hardware to do it (in comparison from what forza has achieved with the XONE).

Was about to get a Top 5 in an Arcade Mode N3000 race.... only to finish 7th cause i absolutely blew the last turn. :guilty:

So now another sign that GT is flawed is because of the detail in trees (nevermind a post literally just showed that another developer basically used a trick to hide their 2d branches and leaves).

The fact they allowed this beta to be shared at all in the state its in (2D trees and all) doesn't exactly line up with them "Diverting attention" from anything.
