Gran Turismo Sport delayed to 2017

Well i must be the only one ho think that the delay is just to finish the game and achieve the solid minimum 60 Fps needed for the PSVR.

I don't think there will be any "extra" content.

The delay didn't even surprised me..but it's beginning to become a real shame.. Cause the first competence of the GT series (forza) got already 4 really good games on the "new generation consoles".

Hopefully PD makes the best GT ever to demonstrate that the await was worth! (personally and after GT5 & 6 really doubt it)

It depends entirely on what the new date is. If it's Feb/Mar then obviously that is not enough time to add anything else, if it's another year and November then it seems more probable there is scope for additions/big changes.

I don't think its going to be Feb/Mar based on the cancelled pre-orders. I've had digital pre-orders delayed that long (AC) and they didn't get cancelled.

As such I think this may well be a big delay.
 
I think as well that the delay is a pretty serious one. A few months wouldn't be a problem but when I see that all preorders have been cancelled there must be a problem with GTS and not a little one. The lack of content being showed, the less enthusiastic reactions of the public, the complete focus on e-Sports. I assume that GTS is currently a pretty big mess and that Sony has pulled the release of GTS and called PD to order. The headquaters has had and will have heated debates about the series.

Gran Turismo is one of Sony's flagships and I don't think Sony wants to take the risk that a dreamer ruins their most succesful title while on the other hand they need the dreamer to evolve the series.

I find it simply stunning that every other big developper gets the games out on Xbone and PS4 without massive delays (years) and that PD just doesn't. Pretty sure that Sony has had enough of this never advancing and always delaying series.

I agree, I do honestly think the reason for the pre-order cancellations could be because the game they pre-ordered isn't going to exist anymore. GT 2000 and GT HD all over again is my bet with a rather different game shown at some point next year.

Oh that is a good point. Maybe Sony told them that not calling their next GT a true "GT7" instead of a "lesser" GT is not acceptable if they delay the game. There may also have been some problems with the FIA or Esports or whatever.The GT Sport that exists for now may just be a place-holder until the big announcement much later in 2017.
 
It's a vicious cycle at this point. The longer the delay, the higher the expectation. The more PD fails to deliver the bigger the discrepancy between gamers' expectations and reality. They just can't win.

IMO, I have never heard of any pre-orders getting cancelled and refunded. Like many others have said this sounds pretty damn serious. I sincerely hope Sony will notice how awfully inefficient PD is at time management. Either they get an iron-fisted project manager for the next GT, or we are left watching this once great franchise slowly crumble and die.

By the time GTS/GT7 is released, we will be more than halfway through the PS4 lifecycle. What an absolute mess. Thank god I've decided to go the PC route early this generation.

It would have to be 2020. From what we have seen so far there is not much 'game'. If they have taken this long to produce relatively little it's going to take them an awful long time to add to the game and do it properly. If they are planning to add to the game and hit a 2017 release I can see the game being a hodgepodge of different ideas and it will all be a mess again. How do they continue to get themselves in this situation? Mismanagement of the highest order.

What, having to delay the release of a game? It's not that uncommon that you could say it's down to mismanagement

I seem to recall that a refund was offered for UC4's delay, perhaps it depends on the publishers' policy??

You would think after GT5's less than smooth development, they wouldn't allow something of this scale to happen again. I don't see how anyone can think this is okay just because "delays happen".

And why someone would wait for another forumer "to tell us exactly what will happen" is equally ludicrous.

It hasn't been delayed for years but it's going to take at least 3 years since the launch of the console to release their first title, no other first party dev has taken that long.

As for Zlork that is just a bit of friendly banter since he's previously been absolutely sure of events that have all been wrong.
 
Or maybe at TGS Kaz will go on stage and say

"It's all right guys, we just had to update our PCs to Win10. The game will be available in january"

As for choosing to single out one particular former, friendly banter or not, it's not neccessary.

Not being delayed as being pushed back (partially true as well I think) but...

They were late on PS2, PS3 and PS4. How long is the PS4 on the market? 3 years? 3 years without their major racing franchise (4 next year). Yes I call that a delay of several years. To add , it is even worse when you think that PD has access to those development kits way before any other game studio because of their relation with Sony and Kaz his position.

What do Turn 10 and Playground (even Codies, Milestone, Kunos, Slightly Mad) have what PD hasn't. I think you will find your answer in there of what is wrong with PD. How come that those franchises manage to produce some great titles with the limited amount of time they have?

I don't say that they are better than PD or that PD is better than them but for the moment it looks like they are much more efficient with deadlines, business decissions, marketing and making games.

Am I the only one thinking that the delay is because of a new license that PD feels has to be implemented? I can think of a few..
