So much negativity toward GT in this Gran Turismo forum. We can troll as long as we want GT but as soon as we defend it, we are fanboys or blind people.
This is a forum for all racing sims, click on forzaplanet.net and see where you end up) not just for Gran Turismo, and nor is it a requirement of membership to support only one title.

No one can troll here, for any title at all, however valid criticism is not trolling.

Why would they sell their biggest selling franchise to Microsoft? They already have their own version of Gran turismo. I don't think you can take away Kaz's own creations lol.
Kaz reaction would be like

It all depends how you phrase your post and it goes both ways.

"GT Sport looks like crap, rubbish graphics, everything is crap, looks like a PS1 game"

Shouldn't be accepted and usually isn't.

"GT Sport is better than any other crappy game on other consoles, it's got the best everything, nothing comes close"

Is similarly not going to fly. You are going to be called to task with a statement like that. However I've personally not seen anyone called a fanboy or blind just for saying you like some aspect of the game.

Take for example the Tokyo track. Myself and others posted that we were disappointed with it and gave reasons why. Other people countered that by saying they liked it, which is fine. It's also fine for those who don't like it to ask those who do why they like it. It should always be required from both sides of any discussion, the why. It carries a discussion onwards.

Someone saying "I like Tokyo track" may therefore get a "Why?" reply and that's fine, a "You're an idiot, the track sucks" is not however ok. Just as an initial "You're wrong, Tokyo track is fine, stop moaning" isn't ok.

On the whole that is how I generally see these forums roll along. It's only a few bad apples who go to one extreme or the other that spoil things and they're usually dealt with.

Is there a lot of negativity right now? Yes, but it's understandable, the game just got delayed to an unknown date. That is naturally going to create negativity, especially with a company renowned for delays.

However certain people (not you) constantly claim that they're "not allowed" to be positive or that every time they post anything positive are they're attacked. I do not see this on a widespread basis at all, just as I don't see that many people blinding "hating" on the game.

Never happen mate. The only reason Forza exists is because Microsoft looked around at which games sold the most. GT was one of them so they needed an answer to "PlayStation has GT, why should anyone buy Xbox". The moment Sony shuts down PD is the moment Microsoft shuts down T10.

Not if Forza keeps making Microsoft a lot of money.

That's if it does make money. Licencing costs vs sales numbers might not come out in T10's favour. Might do as well, of course, but it's not guaranteed.

Racing games sell way, way less than before

I think maybe Sony understood only a huge megaton GT would be a big seller, and GT Sport looked a little stuck in between.

That's my thought

Yeah with how much staff they have and how many outsources they hire I would say 1-2 mln it sells is not enough to cover the costs.

I'd say Forza is losing MS money since Forza 5.

It hasn't been delayed for years but it's going to take at least 3 years since the launch of the console to release their first title, no other first party dev has taken that long.

Just over 3 years since their last release is perfectly acceptable and also probably the norm, concerning Sony's first party studios at least. Naughty Dog (barring a break off group porting TLOU), Guerrilla Games, Sucker Punch and Tokyo (barring collaborations) are all in or around the 3 year bracket.

Plus the part about first party devs is just wrong. Sony Bend hasn't released anything this gen, Sony Santa Monica has not released anything other than collaborations, Guerrilla Cambridge have yet to release on PS4, Media Molecule too.

The moment Sony shuts down PD is the moment Microsoft shuts down T10.

I've thought that myself in the past but I'm not so sure to be honest. If it's bringing people onto your platform and in your ecosystem to spend even more money on DLC, XBL subs and other games, it's doing what it was set up to do. I think the biggest threat to T10's existence is probably Playground as I think that Horizon is where the momentum lies going forward.

And it did, in my case. I bought an XBONE just for Forza. Job done.

As for GT, I haven't bought a PS4. I was but, then the delay happened. As good as Drive Club is, from reading trusted gtplanet member's reviews, I'm still not sold on it. I wanted GT. GTS was a case of, I was buying it no matter what. Now, no way. I'm waiting for reviews before and after patches.

SONY needs to sell the franchise/studio to Microsoft.

It'll be Forza, but will look and feel like GT...and on PC.

All peripherals supported.
I have a feeling it will only look like GT and that's it. Dan will still likely have the game continue to play like it does now and won't allow the team to go crazy modeling cars to the most insane details. Polyphony's guys will finally have to work in a timeframe.

Not being delayed as being pushed back (partially true as well I think) but...

They were late on PS2, PS3 and PS4. How long is the PS4 on the market? 3 years? 3 years without their major racing franchise (4 next year). Yes I call that a delay of several years. To add , it is even worse when you think that PD has access to those development kits way before any other game studio because of their relation with Sony and Kaz his position.

What do Turn 10 and Playground (even Codies, Milestone, Kunos, Slightly Mad) have what PD hasn't. I think you will find your answer in there of what is wrong with PD. How come that those franchises manage to produce some great titles with the limited amount of time they have?

I don't say that they are better than PD or that PD is better than them but for the moment it looks like they are much more efficient with deadlines, business decissions, marketing and making games.

I wouldn't have exactly used Slightly Mad Studios as an exemplar about delays :D

If you're talking about a delay from the launch of the PS4, I suppose it's a consequence of the pros and cons of releasing GT6 on the PS3 - Sony were, though, showing support for their console late on in its life.

I have been posting here for over a year and reading the pages on this site for nearly double that and in my opinion, this is NOT a Gran Turismo forum.

The name of this community maybe called GTPlanet, but it is not dedicated to the brand only. In fact, I am willing to bet that GT-only fans are quite out-numbered here. Most of the Gran Turismo fans aren't regulars here.

Absolute baloney. The GT Sport Discussion Thread is 762 pages long. Any threads for other games that long?

Remind me to not invest in whatever company you're the CEO of :P

I get what youre saying though, Turn 10's main strength and also weakness is that they'll do a lot of features very very good, but GT will do less features some of them excellent, some terrible.

I believe you missed my point: GTPlanet (in my observation) is more than just a Gran Turismo website. Plenty of other things to do, with plenty of longer threads.

Every forum on the internet has a 'Rumble Strip' and off course there are going to be long threads that run for the fulltime that the forum has been in existence. If you added up all the threads dedicated to GT they would far outweigh a thread on any other single subject. This is a site dedicated to GT where we are all free to discuss whatever we want. The vast majority of people will come here as a result of GT.

Your point was received, it's just that I don't agree with the second part. There is vastly more GT fans than there are any other on this forum, really. The GT specific forums get the most activity by quite a good margin.

Hell even news posts, good or bad, get loads of activity.

I guess I have never looked at GTPlanet strictly as a Gran Turismo website. Sure, it's the reason I came here, but it's not the only reason I stay here.

That's not what I meant. I was just addressing the second point of your post about GT fans being outnumbered. I agree with the first bit.

I fully agree that it's a wide ranging forum but totally disagree with your second point. Vast majority turn up here because they are fans of GT. Doesn't mean they are not fans of other things and they are free to discuss them. But I feel it's GT that is the common factor.

I see where there is some miscommunication now.. I said in my original post "GT Only fans". You two must have missed that.

I didn't miss it, but I'd likely still wager that there are more of those than not, really. Something all to hard to prove in either direction, though.

Gotta love the internet sometimes friends!:gtpflag:

OT - I sure hope GT Sport isn't delayed all the way to the end of 2017. Issues and all, I still love the series.

I think most genuinely still love the series. For many, and I defo include myself in this, the first GT was where this crazy journey in racing games began. I'd prepare yourself for the end of 2017, then if it turns up sooner it's a bonus!

I will fully admit that I'm totally biased towards Gran Turismo. And being a moody teenager, yeah, that doesn't help.

I think that GTSport will be a good game; I don't doubt PD's abilities to make a good game, but the delays at this point will only cause pain and detriment to the franchise. People were already displeased with the way the game looked and sounds even before release. A delay will, as you can see, anger everyone a lot. I see this as a late 90's/early 10's Honda situation: their cars weren't bad, but they slacked off and they became old and outdated, especially compared to the competition. Now, will they find their magic back and realize their mistakes and become great once more, as Honda has? Hopefully, but who knows.
