From the Interview with Jordan.

"GTP: A lot of fans have noticed that we’ve seen only new cars in GT Sport so far. Will we see any older, classic cars in the game?"
"KY: Three years ago, we basically reset all the car models in the game, to start building them from scratch. Now, the models have been created at a quality that will last for ten years from this point on. We intend to add more and more models in future updates, so you don’t have to worry about that. We have a lot of plans to add content post-launch." 👍

Alright thanks, Already read the interview though, but still Quattro S1 appearance sure can cause some lengthy discussion right here cause this is so sudden and no one will noticed after that latest trailer

@bdj57 I think it's another proof that Pikes Peak will be in GTSport (maybe not day one). TBH, I don't believe Kaz when he says : "Three years ago, we basically reset all the car models in the game, to start building them from scratch." The 3D models are simply too good, I guess they need to rework shaders and add polygons here and there.

Pikes Peak would be nice whether it will be included in day one or through updates it is fine for me. And about reworking on 3D models, well that is possible explanation I guess.

The Quattro however imo give us, fans of the franchise a bit sign of relief whether old cars below 2010 or older will included in the game. And this is a start. Hopefully all legendary cars from previous series will make a return. That would be great :D

OMG I thought GTS will only have recent models, but this surely a pleasant surprise and open possibilities for older cars included in GTS, whether it is available on day one or DLC.

Also @queleuleu did you surprised? I think anybody wouldn't have thought this after the latest trailer showed up. But I know you and some members here if I remember want older cars since the reveal so this is a good sign  👍
Maybe Sung Kangs FuguZ will be in GTSport afterall. #givemetheZ

Blue Moon Bay.
Also why there's a twinjet plane flying there?

It is an element of decoration to give something more life to the circuits.

Putting the oval circuits next to an airport is a classic in the Ridge Racer saga.
It's not just ovals, and it's not completely unheard of in real life either.

Note that at no point does he ever actually say, "yes, there will be older, classic cars in the game", just a vague, we will add more cars.

Hoping that GTP's meeting with PD clears up this whole offline game progression debate.

So we can make confirmations/assumption based off of screen shots, but we can't make confirmations/assumptions based off of direct quotes from Kaz referring to existence of offline features because we "don't have a clue"?
Soooo I have to point out the differences. One showed pics of races every 5 minutes and the other point was just talk. Are telling me you believe that EVERYTHING is going to be in the game as Kaz said?

Someone should make a thread of all the features that should be making it into the game from GT6 so we can verify Kaz's claim after launch. I have a feeling this is going to make many of the previous broken promises by Kaz and other Sony officials look relatively tame by comparison.

Does 2 years later still count?

Of course we can make confirmations/assumptions based off of what Kaz says, but history tells us GT fans are going to be left making excuses for him. At no point does he ever give concrete answers. Example - yes we will add 500 cars through DLC. Kaz actual words - We could. Note in the past when he has started his answer with "we could" it has never materialized. My last quote in this post is another example.

I would be very happy if the top gear track was back, with those awesome replays it would be incredible, and the correct camera positions..:)
It's a shame that this track will probably never be in another racing game again on PS4.

I wonder, is this going to be a quantum leap in DLC?

Does 2 years later still count?
5 years legally I believe.

Kaz proving once again he is the master of answering questions without actually answering the question.

I wonder, is this going to be a quantum leap in DLC?
Well to be honest, they're already a fair bit over the 140 advertised at the initial launch. If they intended to launch late last year, and have made somewhere around 40~ more cars to introduce before its current release, I would say that so far they are already producing much more cars at a faster pace than usual. They're roughly on pace with T10's DLC-output, if that is anything to go by.

Are telling me you believe that EVERYTHING is going to be in the game as Kaz said?

It's not about broken promises or lingering/believing every word that Kaz says - a lot of the talk revolves around this game being small and not offering much and how the classic GT is dead - a large part of that assumption is based of the game is shooting for an online only experience, which no one at PD ever said or gave any hint of. People are saying that we know exactly what the offline content is for the game based off of a few screenshots and casting verdicts based off of that assumption - when we really only know what about 3 or 4 of those events are.

GTP asked a really straight forward question and it was a straight forward answer - the core of GT is going to be there and there is more of - which from what we've seen so far looks to be the case. More scapes, more car customization, more offline campaign events, better online, better quality environments, better sounds, better physics and a more polished package as a whole. It appears to be a much larger game than any other Gran Turismo before it. In that regard, yes I'm inclined to believe the statement. Now I really don't expect there to be driving on the moon, an Arton Senna tribute, Goodwood and specialty events like that. And yes dynamic weather/time of day is gone, but we'll see how night/rain racing is executed in GTS is, but if it's anywhere near DriveClub, I'll take that over that over the cpu intensive dynamic nature - so in that regard, yes that is better, and of higher quality.

Course maker probably won't be included, but the question was specifically about the classic core parts of the game.

Please quote where anyone said the game is "online only" on this forum. I don't see anyone saying they know exactly what the offline content is going to be, but I do see people talking about what we have known so far. Please quote where anyone says they know exactly what the offline content is going to be on launch day, I'd love to see it as well.

Looks like you didn't read the interview. Here is the exact answer to GTP's question about traditional, classic parts of the game.
Gran Turismo Sport is actually going to contain more features than any other game in the series to date. Nothing has been dropped, things have only been added. Whether it be the campaign mode, or the offline gameplay, or the open lobbies, everthing has been raised in quality and there is more of it, so there is nothing to worry about. Nothing has been dropped.
Key words: Nothing has been dropped. Nothing = 0, meaning not a single classic feature is dropped. The Senna tribute, driving on the moon etc. are content not features. Content comes and goes and that is expected. Features are things like the Course Maker which has been in the last 2 iterations of the game and a huge and expansive offline career mode. These are now features that Kaz has now promised the fans. Massive car customization is also a classic feature of the game. It's a long list.

I don't see a problem holding Kaz accountable for that promise. Do you?

There has been alot of debate about what this game is going for, and a lot of times it is compared to the likes of iRacing - we've all seen it, no need for a quote. And we've all seen where folks have deducted what the offline is comprised of, no need to search for quotes on that either.

Course Maker is not a classic core part of the GT franchise.

The offline looks to be quite huge and expansive from what we've seen.

Nothing wrong with holding PD accountable.

Course maker has been in the game 7 years. That's not a classic feature? I beg to differ.
There is a need for a quote because you are making a very specific claim. I haven't seen anyone make any of these claims so I'd like to see it:
People are saying that we know exactly what the offline content is for the game

So who said they know exactly what the offline content will be (at launch I presume) and who said that game is an online experience only? If it's true it should be easy to find since you are inferring it's multiple people. If not, you are misrepresenting the members here at GTP.

OMG, my use of the word exactly was wrong, jeez dude. You gonna make me separate my desk from everyone and sit in the back of the classroom now? Yes, there is a rumor/understanding floating around that the only racing towards game progression is in the online space, and that we generally know what the offline is going to offer, which is why GTP asked the question in the first place.

You know there is massive comparison to iRacing and how the offline experience is said to be minimal and so far away from core GT. And you know how hungry everyone is for details regarding offline because that is going to dictate how we perceive what the game is going to be. That's the real point of the post. You're awfully nit-picky.

I like clarity and accuracy.

Sounds more like 110% precision from across the globe - most folks could easily take away the meaning of my post.

Now can we get back to the real meat of the my post? I don't think the course maker is a classic GT feature. The question/answer was:

GTP: The competition aspect of Gran Turismo Sport is exciting, but many long-time fans of the series are worried about the more traditional, classic parts of the game. Can you reassure them that will still be part of GT Sport?
KY: Gran Turismo Sport is actually going to contain more features than any other game in the series to date. Nothing has been dropped, things have only been added. The closed beta is really just one snippet of the whole Gran Turismo Sport experience. It’s just one part of it, and it’s also the most stressful part of the experience, so it’s important that we have the support of the community to help test it out.

I don't think we should take that answer as a promise of a course maker. That's reaching a bit far IMO. When I think of classic GT I think of PS1 PS2 - the golden age of GT that is referred to a lot - when GT owned a majority of the market share.

As much as I want to see the course maker in GTS, it probably won't be. Maybe in a couple years. :(

Problem with the course maker is that they need to do new environments with track side detail that looks good for a current-gen title.

Overall thoughts so far:
1.) I'm glad the car count has been raised to 177+ cars rather than 140; this means there's still room for more types of cars to come in. I'm hoping for more Gr1 cars to make an appearance as the Gr1 car list feels the most limited out of the types in GT at the moment. There's only a couple of LMP1s that are out-of-date along with some VGT cars. I was surprised and glad to see the Citroen GT come back, it was one of my favorite fantasy race cars from the past GTs. As for Gr3, they have to be nearly done at this point; I can't think of many more cars to add. I just want the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and Ferrari 488 GT3, then I would be completely satisfied.

2.) Like most people, I'll hold Kaz's words with a grain of salt and just wait to see what happens for anything like the claims of keeping past features of GT games. That and the 500 cars dlc idea, which I really hope is true somewhat this time.

3.) The revamp of the Tokyo Expressway course looked fantastic in the trailer, I liked the additions of things such as the trains and the construction crew to bring some life to the course. I honestly want to see some gameplay of this update track on what else has changed. The other new tracks shown in the trailer have gotten me hooked aswell and I welcome the return of Suzuka Circuit.

4.) Finally, there's more of the livery editor shown! Granted, it's just a tiny bit, but it's still more than before. It seems that we will be able to change the color of the car and possibly alter shapes. On the fact it was shown on the 911 GT3 RS, that at least tells me that normal cars will be able to have their liveries edit aswell. If this livery editor ends up being similar to Forza's, it could lead to a lot of possibilities with the cars.

5.) With the trailer that talked about wanting to change how the GT series has become in the recent years, that tells me Kaz is somewhat aware of the problems. This gives me a feeling that GT Sport may end up being a good game at the end, but of course that's another "wait until we see" scenario. The info I've gotten so far makes me look forward to GTS's release even more than before even though I'm not going to be playing it at launch.

Oh, stop it. Ain't nothing but a thang.

:D

Really, I don't think it would matter. And if it's set somewhere like Andalusia from GT6, then it would be more than fine. Tokyo Bay from GT5 is sufficient in my opinion. I think it's for shorter tracks though.
