which is a response to the "it has more cars argument". The focus of the two games is different (which is why I'm excited for both). But every time any new information about this game comes out, it's always the same response from a select few, PCARS 2 is fantastic and GTSport is terrible.
Well because on paper, comparing the two games, it looks like Pcars has done so much more. It's also the most like for like game within all the competition. It's a natural comparison.

You don't need to keep defending PD, they can handle it...they will directly be compared to the competition, as they should be.

It is a natural comparison to compare them yes in a fair manner. That Ferrari red comment for example isn't what you call a fair assessment of GTSport.

@SpectralGas I was mr doom and gloom post GT6, so that's a nice change.

Yeah, and then you labeled someones post as a drive by statement, even though your initial post was basically "Yeah, well GTS is prettier." It sure is prettier, but Pcars is looking damn fine too. So was that really necessary?

Writing being on the wall automatically means that everyone should shut up about it? The writing on the wall is the exact reason its being discussed, and has been for a long while. It's a massive chunk of a game missing for some people, and that is making or breaking the game for some. Its a strong point of discussion for a reason.

Where am I implying people should "shut up about it"? I'm simply saying this shouldn't be a surprise since its basically been indicated from the start. I have no problem with people feeling the way they do (Its their money and their decision, something some people here seem to forget), just find it odd that this seemed to have been basically the direction it was going yet somehow, people still had expectations (which if we've learned anything from this series, should be tempered).

I was asking you a question. That's why there's a question mark. Either way, the way you worded it essentially just sounded like "we already knew that, get over it." People had different expectations because things where being changed within it. Never thought that was an unreasonable expectation.

Also the fact that we didn't see a good chunk of it until now. We held on to hope there was actual races somewhere in there.

To me, part of the problem, was that KY said this game would have the most depth of any GT game. I think many of us assumed that it would have an offline career mode along side an in depth online mode.

No I didn't. I said the cars are of a higher quality, hence the reason for the smaller car list.

And if the visual quality of the cars is the main point for someone then GTS is a no brainer.

However outside of that PCars 2 appears to be shaping up better in just about every other area.

Which one will end up 'better' will be down to individual preference and what the final releases will be like.

I personally have them both pre-ordered and it will be interesting to compare them.
Agree i would love to see the P1 with those beautiful gts graphics

Agree plus Projects Cars 2 has the P1 And P1 GTR  I yet to see any signs of even the P1 in GTS

I Would buy GTS in a heart beat, PD Just has to show me the P1 :D:)

I know you didn't literally say that. It's just what it sounded like in reply to a complaint about the content about the game, as if the visuals are so vastly superior. They're definitely nicer, but are you going to sit here and look at those pictures of PCars2 and continue to bring up the advantage they have in a department that absolutely no one is complaining about? Pcars definitely captured that life-like qualities as well, they just choose to not take too much resources to inch them that much more into outright beauty. They balanced it perfectly, great visuals, great content, and apparently great physics.

You keep talking about the visuals yet I mentioned the car quality. As in polygons, shaders, LOD, etc. Increasing those increases the amount of time it takes to put them in the game.

Not sure why its a massive surprise that Campaign is basically Licenses test central. Its been clear from the beginning that this is an "E-Sports" Focused game (as has even been made evident in the Beta) so I never had such massive expectations for a Traditional GT Offline Mode. I'm honestly lost on how even you guys that played GT for a While didn't see this coming, the writing has been on the wall since the delay of the open beta.

Even knowing full well this isn't the traditional title of the past, I'm still getting it. I gathering my money and getting this pre-ordered along with PCARS 2. I got one game for my up to date racing needs and I got a GT Game (and finally, a game that I can create liveries and racing online without needing to give money to EA) so I'm pretty much liking what I see.

Eh, there were a lot of people convinced that the campaign mode wouldn't be mostly license test-style short events when we first saw the mockups at Copper Box last year. I wasn't one of them, and it sounds like you weren't either — but either way, it was hardly unanimous. So it's not a surprise to see the responses now.

Hell, when we pushed out the GT Sport car list on FB, there were people on there that had no idea the game was going to have <200 cars. There are a bunch of people out there that don't keep up with all the details: we're the weird ones!

Nope, just felt confused at how everyone again fell for expecting something only for it to not materialize. If anything, I expect the people that get hurt because "how dare you talk like that about a game I loved since childhood" to be the ones trying to silence everyone.

Also the fact that we didn't see a good chunk of it until now. We held on to hope there was actual races somewhere in there.

Honestly, the waiting for that alone (something that seemed like it would've been elaborated on from the beginning) had me feeling suspect about it. The fact it took so long for it to have this much shown after the brief portion they showed (can't remember the event per se) sorta gave me the feeling we weren't getting those races (as much as even I would've liked it to happen).

To me, part of the problem, was that KY said this game would have the most depth of any GT game. I think many of us assumed that it would have an offline career mode along side an in depth online mode.

I can sorta understand that then, though its worth remembering that Kaz tends to have ambitions that either exceed his teams capabilities or is farther out of reach then first thought so it tends to be abit dangerous to assume anything.

Sorry, but to get your point, your not even talking about outright beauty over the game as a whole, just specifically the modeling and the visual structure of it alone? I can't think of one reason why that would make a better game, for the comparison at hand.

How much longer does it take in comparison to what Pcars is doing?

Visual fidelity makes it a better game for me, but that is not what I was getting at. No idea to the latter.

Probably because the lack of info that we had on the subject, and how long we had to wait for anything to come to fruition(over a year now, correct?) So at that point, with what we didn't know(which was vast at the time) it was too much to think that we might get actual races in a campaign mode, even when they said that in comparison to past titles, GTS is not missing anything, but only doing more in every regard?

They delayed the game, so thats why it took so long. With that, everyone thought that they might get more, which I believe is a wrong assumption. However, they started making changes to it, so it brought hope back, to me at least. Now we know more information and it looks like it really didn't change its structure.

Visual fidelity makes it a better game for me, but that is not what I was getting at. No idea to the latter.
Well then I suppose GTS is going to be the game for you. It's not like we expected anything less in that department, in fact, we just expected more in other departments.

@ImaRobot That's what is confusing me. I was bashing PD a lot during the PS3 era. But GTSport is a lot more fun with proper online, has a livery editor, decent sounds, and Scapes mode. It's the biggest evolutionary step in the series. Will the actual racing be better than PCARS? probably not. But my experience with the original PCARS which promised a lot is still in the back of my mind. So, who knows?

Yeah, it seems so. I was just under the impression people would've finally grasped not to expect so much when it comes to this series or the things Kaz says but yet again, here we are.

And here I am finding these people weird. Its a wonderfully Mad world I live in

I haven't even played the game yet, and even with all my gripes about it, I'm still considering picking up a PS4 and trying it out. It's not the only reason that I'm planning on getting one, but still. There are just certain aspects of the game that I'm not liking. The good news is that I likely wont be getting one until after the game is released, so it gives me time to be able to actually check out what we get at release before I dive in.

Even with a lack of offline content in terms of racing, I know for a fact that photomode is going to draw me in so much. I've created a thread for ever Forza game that has came out since I joined this forum, as well as participated in other threads for other games. It's what I like, and it at least has that ground covered for me. However, I still do enjoy racing, and being tied to online isn't sitting too well for me. Has there been any kind of confirmation of a rivals type system much like Forza, where we can race friends leaderboard times and go back and forth? That would be another aspect that would greatly draw me in.

@ImaRobot I wouldn't buy a console for one game though. Waiting for reviews and impressions is fine but it's a risky move.
Well that's why I said I wasn't going to get it for just one game :P I have Crash in mind, as well as the new God of War. Another fact is that my girlfriends friend is taking her PS3 back cus shes moving, so I'm thinking of getting her a PS4 because she also likes Crash, but also uses it as a Blu-Ray player. Its a win-win.

There is so much to play on Ps4 you cannot go wrong getting one at this stage, they are pretty cheap now too.
There hasn't been much that caught my eye yet. It's the only reason I don't have one now.

WOW really? You must have incredibly narrow gaming tastes,

I really don't, but I just didn't find anything worth it to make the jump. Especially considering that at the time they where a good bit more expensive. Now that they range from 250-300 It makes it easier to bite the bullet. Xbox was holding me over for the time being, and even though it still is, I feel that this is the year to get one.

There are far more games on Ps4 then X1...that console has a far worse library.................... so it's kind of weird you felt that was worth getting but not PS4 like most. So yeah you must have very narrow/specific tastes.

Forza alone has been worth it. I've had 4 games this generation, the 4th coming up in a few months, and I still jump between the two most recent, even though one is already reaching 2 years old. Also the simple fact that I wan't people to play with, and quite frankly my friends are on Xbox. There where games that I definitely thought looked nice, but like I said, it wasn't worth the 350-400 at the time. PS4 might have more games, it just didn't have games that I was interested in that deeply.

So like I said narrow tastes...PS4 has a lot of high rated, quality exclusives this year alone. Heck Ps4 has more this year then Xbox will have had in several years. I mean there is a reason PS4 is outselling it 2:1.
