Beta during E3? That's like mid-2016, not early 2016. But then again you never know with PD I guess. :nervous:
That's what I mean, there's been very little footage for something that is close to get in the hands of the public, waiting till E3 will give them 5 more months to work on it, enough to include a bunch of new cars and a track or two.

@SimTourist true that.. I just hope they theow us a little bone soon. An informational trailer like the GT6 trailer we got with some info in it.

I know the official Facebook page was telling people who messaged them to keep an eye on the official site for more info coming "soon". Now, this doesn't mean anything concrete, but I get the odd feeling that the recent news article mentioning the Bugatti Chiron's official unveiling at Geneva might be of interest. I do wonder how close the relationship between Bugatti and Polyphony has developed (considering how prominently the Bugatti VGT has featured in any and all GT-related advertising material in recent months). Perhaps the official reveal of the Chiron will tie in with the official release of GT Sport's beta...? I hope...?

April 30th is the last date you can conceivably consider as being in the early part of the year. Anything after that, is the middle of the year.

Uncharted 4 got pushed to the end of April so my guess is they'll want GT Sport promotion and the beta running a while before that, so early March would be my guess. In fact, I'll randomly guess March 8th.

I would take what the official Facebook page says with a grain of salt. Chances that there are actual PD people answering are slim. Most likely (and true indeed for at least some part. I know this for a fact) there are just Sony Entertainment/Playstation guys in USA who replies. When the GT6 First Love (GT6 launch week) livestream ended I was contacted by an american chick from the official Facebook page who clearly worked for SCEA in general.
Why you ask? Because I got Andrew Comrie Picard's autograph upon request on the stream, and they needed my address. If you guys remember, I was the guy who sent in the GT tattoo pic, which fascinated ACP so much he talked with / to me a lot. Awesome and proud moment in my life, I might add.

Which potentially ties in neatly with the Geneva Motor Show (3rd-13th of March).

My guess is the day the Chiron is revealed, is the day the beta comes out. Again, based on no knowledge at all...

I think it's good. We had way to many cars in GT6. What where they there for? 40+ Nissans and 5 Kias in GT6. Maybe they are balancing the cars between brands.

Wait, we had Kias? :odd:

What about the Toyota Barista project. If you have seen the video, then please tell me if it has something to do with GTS. The Toyota Barista video got my attetion because it looked very different than GT6 in my eyes. If you have not seen it, then go watch it here :

I actually don't remember. My point is that one brand has 40 of the same car while another brand has 5 cars in total.

Or we'll have an information blowout like release date, cars in the roster, tracks, features, etc.

Remember this is all speculation.

Fear more. Numerous brands in GT6 has exactly ONE car each.

That's six weeks away, for a game that has a single trailer so far. I mean, it's possible, but it's incredibly unlikely. I wouldn't bet against more info on GT Sport coinciding with the Chiron's debut, but the full beta? Nope.

That should always be the case, though. Some marques will never be able to match the mainstream numbers.

Yes, 80-gazillion R34's is a little extreme, but I'd be disappointing if companies like Ford, Nissan, and other big names didn't have more offerings than some of the other ones. Koenigsegg, if they ever get added, will not be able to fill up a dozen spots (unless you count every small permutation of their two main cars so far). Pagani, same thing.

While Hyundai/Kia is a big company in terms of sales globally, they don't have a lot of enthusiast offerings yet, especially the latter arm. I'd love to see a Forte Koup or even the Proceed GT, but I certainly don't want PD to intentionally limit the garages of certain marques just to maintain a sense of equality.

...Looks like you got yourself a nice bedtime story to tell your grandkids in the future!!

The beta coming around Chiron's first public showing sounds like an interesting idea - imagine the very first car available (perhaps as the only car) is a new Bug; it'd be a nice marketing exercise, right?

If that's the case, then showing off trailers containing Chiron running on GT:S will be tough to show before the launch, unless PDI go down the 30-seconds long "teaser" route again...

Or, they could stick with Bug VGT vids running on one of the tracks already shown in the PGW trailer. Either way, the imaginary and highly speculative deadline for beta is closing in. Hopefully they'll be ready in time.

I get the feeling, however bizarre this may sound, that if GTS is further away than we think, Polyphony/Sony would be teasing it more, if that makes sense (to keep people interested over the waiting period). The fact that it isn't being teased as readily (and the fact GT6's support has fallen of a cliff) suggests it might not be too far off.

All we know is that the track in the video is the GT6 version of La Sarthe 2013, but it's not regular real-time GT6 footage since the image quality in the video is much better than it is in GT6. It's probably pre-rendered in the GT6 engine, though there's no reason why it's couldn't be the GT6 track in the GTSport engine.

(also, the engine sound you hear from 0:53 onward sounds like it has the same interior reverb filter from GT6 so it could be from PD's new sound generation system on PS4, but that's just very wild conjecture at the moment until we hear more)

A demo is just that mate. It simply doesn't need any hype at all. That would be reserved for the run up to the full game release.

I would think that is wild conjecture. Are we sure that's not just the Toyota itself making the sound? Or part of the usual tactic of Polyphony to dub anything and everything to do with GT with actual audio? Mind you, if GTS did sound like that...

As a side note, does anyone remember the dubbed audio from the GT6 Goodwood trailer with the Z4 GT3? They went to extraordinary lengths to cover up GT's in-game audio, with at least three distinct engine/car types used to provide audio which only vaguely correlated with RPM/gear/braking/car position. Truly an indication of how Polyphony seem to realise how inadequate their sound package is.

I'll admit it's not my wild conjecture, it was @Griffith500 who first suggested that the sound could be from GTS. He's the guy who knows the most about sound here. :P

Pretty sure it's not the Toyota making the sound or else all those people watching the spectacle would be permanently deafened by now. No doubt they were using the TS040's quiet all-electric mode to move the wheels with the engine sounds coming from somewhere else, but where? Could be GTS, could be just one of Toyota's onboard recordings that just happens to sound a bit similar to GT6.

The easiest one would be to just ship all the people out after you're done the initial shoot, and do a sound run on the dyno with the engine on. You're correct that you can't run a race car full throttle with a whole crowd of people standing that close without ear protection, but you can do a power run and splice the audio from that over a silent run for the video.

It'd probably be as easy as getting sounds out of GT, after all you've already got the car set up on a dyno.

A demo for a regular game, possibly. A beta for the first iteration of one of Sony's biggest-selling franchises on its current system? Yeah, they'd want to get word out.

Again, I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's very unlikely. PD announced GT6 before giving us a taste of it as part of GT Academy 2013. If the beta is set to arrive in six weeks, I'd imagine we'd start hearing more about it very, very soon.

Especially if the feeling is that GT6 was somewhat of a misstep, and may have soured the perception of GT somewhat. I'd think that they'd want to tell everyone "Hey, we're having a free demo of the new GT, come see how great it is!"

As I recall, there was quite a lot of noise about the Uncharted PS4 beta well before it went active, and that's a similarly prominent first party title.

It's a free opportunity to make a great impression on every single PS4 owner that's connected to the internet. They should be making as much noise as they can. Demos exist to engage people enough to buy the real game, and they only do that if they're in people's faces. It does nothing if only the dedicated few play it, because those are the sort of people who would buy the game regardless.

They should also hype the full release, but not promoting the demo/beta/whatever you want to call it is a missed opportunity to convert customers.

Not only that, but the flames the exhaust spit out would probably fry a few whiskers and eyebrows too. That would be my concern.

One thing I forgot was that alot of PS4 owners were 360 owners, in a way it's a weird positive for PD since these players would have missed GT5.

Well that kind of goes without saying doesn't it? PS4 is selling like crazy compared to the others, whereas PS3 trailed behind both the Wii and X360 in sales, so there must be a decent percentage of PS4 owners that weren't PS3 owners.
