One thing I forgot was that alot of PS4 owners were 360 owners, in a way it's a weird positive for PD since these players would have missed GT5.

I think it will be a positive success factor for GTS, there will be a decent amount of players that miss GT and can't wait to jump back in.
I wouldn't read to far into it. How did they even come to the conclusion on those stats? A general survey wouldn't be enough to be able to make the assumption for the whole PS4 base. It's selling better, yeah, but I'm not so sure its going to be from people jumping ship because they missed GT. I would imagine that most people don't even know about it, considering it really has no presence at all on the system, especially at the time of that article.

You're assuming that it's positive because they are potential new customers. The corollary to that is that there are tens of millions of previous Playstation owners and potentially former GT fans, that haven't bought the PS4 and have no intention of doing so and are lost customers. Two sides to every coin.

31% were console owners that didn't own a PS3, and 17% were not console owners. So half of all PS4 owners never owned a PS3?

That sounds...off. Maybe it's correct, but there were 80+ million PS3s sold. Something doesn't quite add up there.

This is nothing against you, you're simply passing on his numbers. But I have serious doubts about a VP of marketing that quotes those numbers, and then goes on to talk about how their primary consumer is "hardcore" gamers. "Hardcore" gamers probably owned both previous gen consoles, and they certainly didn't own none.

I'd be very wary of using those stats at all purely on face value. VP of marketing boy isn't telling the whole story.

There are also the console owners that moved on to PC, or even just stopped gaming. Those figures come from a research study, so there isn't compete accuracy in them.

That was also as of last June. Those percentages could be much different now.

True but it's interesting none the less how this demographic will react to a new GT game.

The way I can see these numbers being true is that the 80 million plus was after 10 years and several price cuts, the PS4 owners then (time of study) would be the early-ish adobters from mostly the USA and UK (MS's biggest markets last gen).

I wonder how the hiring process is going over at PD. I feel the biggest difference will be the sound of the cars. The 60fps will help no doubt.

Wrong thread.
Oh my dear god.

(3/1/2016) A listing on Camco Toys has a pre-order for a five car “Gran Turismo” pack. The contents should be familiar to Gran Turismo fans:

  • Nissan 2020 Concept Vision GT
  • Chevrolet Corvette C7.R
  • Mazda LM55 Vision GT
  • Lamborghini Veneno
  • Nissan GT-R
http://www.hotwheelscollectors.com/news/2016-hot-wheels-entertainment-series

Corvette C7.R, Ford GT (old 2005 model most likely), Nissan GT-R, Nissan 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, and the Lamborghini Veneno confirmed to star in Hot Wheels Entertainment's "Gran Turismo" pack in September, right before the "Forza" pack.

Looks like the LM55 was pulled out at the last minute.

It has been noticed by @Sinyster that the new M6 has a 100th anniversary layout and says "The next 100 years" Similar to how GTS announcement trailer said to the next 100 years. Could some sort of collaboration be going on between PD and BMW?

Edit: Also note that the livery of the M6 appears very similar to a 3D mesh, like the ones used in games.

Also the color of the livery is gold, like from GTS and on the #25 car there is a BMW V12 LMR on it, which is in GT. But this doesn't really have to mean anything at all.

100th anniversary

...Well, there's your answer. It's a 100th Anniversary, so it wouldn't be too weird to make a toast for another successful 100 years, right? I wouldn't read too much into it. I mean c'mon, you don't even see GT or PDI logo on the car even...

Sure, that doesn't mean anything really, but shouldn't that discourage people from connecting dots that are not there?

I thought it went(for wedding anniversaries anyway)

Silver= 25th

Gold= 50th

Edit: 75= Diamond
Don't tell my wife :P

Well weddings are different because I'd imagine very, very few people reach 100, so nobody would ever get to gold. For general use, gold is commonly associated with 100.

But why is PD toasting to the next 100 years after only 17ish?

...I dunno.

Maybe it was a mistranslation. Maybe it was one of those spur of the moment marketing speel. Maybe it's just nice, round, even number to mouth off. All I can say, after looking at what's in front of me, is that BMW 100 years and PDI 100 years seem unrelated.

Of course, I'll change my mind if there's a compelling evidence.
