One thing I noticed that really made me nod and smile in approvement is the track detail. FINALLY! It took PD two generations of consoles to do it right! They look absolutely stunning!

Things I'm concerned about: FPS and sounds. There really isn't much to hear, but it appears to me the sound effects are as bland and incorrect as they've always been. Placeholder? I'm honestly tired of that excuse, since the GT5P days... FPS will definitely improve, as GT has always been the benchmark of 60fps racers. For now, it seems very shaky.

I also don't buy the all cars with cockpits. I saw a couple of blacked-out prototypes (at least from the outside) from GT6. I'm sure PD must've cut corners.

Spoken as if I'm in this community on a guest pass.

If the swear filter was bypassed, sure (I've done that on accident before.) I would understand where you're coming from.

None of this is really needed.

Well, I think all of us besides the moderators are guests here. The posts with stars and negativity should go in the Epic Whining and Crying Thread. It keeps the site from being cluttered with dead horse-beating.

I'm fairly confident about the cockpits. It's 137 cars, most of which were already in existence. I've never been bothered with sound but things seemed a bit better even with the different distractions.

I would say that they wouldn't have hired that guy from Forza to have him sit around and make sure everything sounds the way it has for years. We have 6 months until launch, I expect changes.

Hopefully. There really isn't much to distinguish at the moment really, until we see a real gameplay video. But I feel the "Gran Turismo" characteristic sound is still lurking around there. For now... hopefully.

...and here I was thinking I was the only one who though that sound didn't equal the whole game.
I've never bought a game with sound being a consideration. Would it be nice? Sure. But I wouldn't immediately notice it except for a handful of cars anyways. Physics and replayability are what matter to me with racing games most.

2) Exactly how many disciplines will GT Sport cover? Zero mention of open wheel, stock cars and such.

Well it can be narrowed down to "rally" and "not rally" at the moment :P

3) What will the online be like? If what we saw is a representation of what we're getting, we're hardly getting improvement.

I don't know, aside from some of the bad driving the online races looked fine to me - the jerky car movement still seems to be there (although reduced quite a bit from GT6 I'd say), and some of the camera direction didn't work so well, but apart from that all the key components seemed to be working pretty well - grid starts, flags, safety car, replays, Playstation advertising spam etc. :)

4) Is there even an arcade mode not attached to events?

Answered many months ago - Yep.

I think it was just VGT cars which were blacked out? Although I can't remember if all of them were. Presumably that means they're simply not done yet as they were in GT6, and we hope they plan to get them done for release.

haunting tire squeals
I've never been bothered with sound

/sarcasm - I'm probably missing something.

and Sound, and Unfinished Graphics

You have until November PD, get it done. Please.

I'm sure that many people are bothered by the sound that Gran Turismo usually has because they have

A. An expensive sound system.

B. An expensive pair of headphones or earbuds.

Considering I have an investment in audio equipment that many others have, I would like for the games to take advantage of the capabilities of my equipment. As I've mentioned in my other post, Gran Turismo 4 was one of the best Gran Turismo games, but I played it with the sound off and a soundtrack playing the background.

The same argument can be made with resolution. Why buy a console or game that is only capable of rendering games at 720p when you have a TV that has the fidelity of 1080p. Now, there are exceptions, but we're talking about sound in a game that hasn't changed all that much since it was initially announced as a franchise in 1999.

They do already have Theatre Mode in GT6 audio settings, is that what you're looking for?

I understand why people don't want the current sounds, but I honestly have no real problem with them. I usually play with something else over the top like music or YouTube, and when racing (especially in the early morning), I have the sound off just to not wake up anyone.

Ok now to the important stuff... Where's that gif with Kaz dancing?
Your priorities, I like them.

Back on the topic of the game though, from what I've seen, it has what I'm looking for:
  • New content
  • In-race features (flag system, not that I even expected that)
  • Community features
Yet to be seen, things I would consider to be necessary are:
  • Super GT racing cars
  • NASCAR racing cars
  • Private-hosted online lobby with custom settings
  • Ability to tune cars and BoP them
I believe the last for will come but seeing is better than believing.

I feel they are probably saving those Nascar and Super GT models for 7. Why? The Group. # categories don't match up with any of those leagues unfortunately. :nervous:

Kind of wondering why they would add the new oval then if that's the case. I haven't seen anything from "Group 2" yet and the GT300 cars can slot into Group 3 with a little bit of elbow grease.

Best-case scenario right there. But what is the point of having an FIA-approved oval anyways?

I'm not 100% sold, but could be worse.

Overall I'm kind of excited for the game, I'll get it for sure, but maybe not right when it comes out. It has some amazing steps forward for the series, it has a great photomode, but it still has those "unforgivable" GT flaws we all learn to live with.

Some people snap from those flaws, some people take the axe to their relationship with the franchise, and I understand the frustration they have. But I'm sticking around. GT games have always delivered my favourite style of racing experience no matter the game. Whether it's 1 or 6, it still feels like the same welcoming core game through my entire experience with the franchise

Overall, I rate a GT1 part 6.5 out of 10

Anyone realized that game runs 60fps, but video stream was at 50fps? WTF?
Looks REALLY weird that way. Doesn't smooth at all.
If Jordan somehow reads this maybe he can do something for tomorrow!
