Damn I got confused with so many tabs open and posted this comment below in the crying and whining thread, I was meaning to post it here. They're just a few concerns I have with what I have seen. Here it is...

I was trying to be really positive last night so as not to ruin anyone's fun, after all it was the unveiling of a game some people have waited for years but I had a good night sleep and thinking about what I saw yesterday is that I'm really underwhelmed.Seriously I was waiting for something that would have made me regret having bought an XBone instead of a PS4 but although I sort of liked what I saw I just wasn't blown away by it.

The lack of damage at this stage I'll not say it's laughable but it is a serious concern, I don't know how GTS as an esport will be taken seriously if say a guy leading a World Championship race screws up hits the barriers hard which in real life would wreck the car and in this game he just bounces back onto the track.

The other thing were the sounds, from that gameplay trailer and the online event I couldn't hear anything that was greatly different with GT6 and GT6 was bad, bad in terms of sounds so that's another worry.

Lack of weather night/day cycle? That's fine with me especially if it was taken away in order to have a more stable frame rate. Same as with the graphics, it looked really good, maybe not as good as Driveclub but I see that as a good thing as well if they are leaving more processing power for other things.

Something I am not sure whether I got right or not is that GTS is only going to have grids of 20 cars max, Is that right?

Realistically, they have 6 months to improve on the game. I hate saying this, but they really need to start outsourcing their work because this could be the last GT Sport ever, especially considering how strict the FIA is and if they screw this up, it'll take viable nuclear fusion power to restart Kaz's heart.

Is it me or is Gr.3 more like GT300 regs than strictly GT3? I love it but I was just getting that feeling from the Subie and Evo.

Also, glad the F-Type and Z4 actually sound at least like V8's in a sense. They didn't do to well with the Aston sadly. :(
Just hoping the F type R and SVR will be in the game, along with the Huayra BC and Tempesta since those could act as halo cars since the holy trinity have been taken and are a few years old now

I guess they could do 32 players, since Battlefield 1 is supposed to support 64 players battles.

No they don't. Don't forget the final testing stage, at least a month. Time to press the discs, package them, do a final inspection before ship them to various parts of the world for launch. And also to factor in some buffer time for any last minute shipping mishaps. So discount at least 2 months of time off the launch date for any additional "development".

Which is why 50% complete sounds improbable to me. Unless they are planning to launch a game that's not complete.

Still a little upset that there is no interchangeable weather system in the game. It feels like a pretty damn big feature to skimp on.

Day one patch.

And now that I think about it, I often see people complaining about day one patches, but I don't get why. Do they not understand that it gives the devs more development time?

Thing is we don't really know anything about the build of the game that was used in the livestream - it could well have been a stripped back version that they could guarantee was a stable build. What we saw was a test run of the esport competition aspect rather than a full demo and Kaz's presentation was focused on what new things GTS was bringing to the table and nothing was really said about any returning features such as weather/damage/tuning etc...
For now we are almost as much in the dark as we were yesterday - until more specific details arise concerning all the questions this event has thrown up I'm keeping my toys in the cot. ;)

Remember these concept arts that came out early?
It's the Scapes!

Well, at least, very much unlike usually, we have been given visual and substantial proof that all of the features do in fact exist, and will be in the game. That was were the majority of complaints about GT6 came from.

Hmmm, I hope that's true, that would give them an opertunity to show off a more flashy build on E3

I don't base my expectations on "demo's" these days. It can change for better or worse. But I'm a GT loyalist. GTSport will be a day one purchase and a pre-order in the coming months. I've seen enough racing from GT6 to know that the laggy replay or race viewer mode isn't representative of how gameplay is. I know they showed gameplay during the stream, and it had issues, but I fully expect everything to improve.

I think PD (or Sony) wanted to push the envelope and show off GTS because the lack of news could dwindle the expectations and possible sales. We know it's nowhere near ready yet. They admitted as much. Whether it's 50% or 99%, it's not done. I kept that in my mind while watching today. Hopefully some of those on the fence keep that in mind before casting judgement.

I see a few people are playing counselor here. Maybe by the weekend, or even tomorrow, people will have calmed down and clearer thinking, and discussion, can resume. Thank God I missed the usual GT Planet implosion. :P

I think everyone needs to consider what GT Sport is: a placeholder for GT7, which likely is being worked on diligently behind the scenes by at least a fraction of the team. So what can we expect from a super-Prologue? Not as much as the full release title.

But what we're getting is a lot, really. Many of us wanted to see something bodacious, but the cautious warned to not expect much. 40, 50, 70 cars or so, 8 to 12 tracks. A bit more than GT5 Prologue, which would be enough for an eSport stand-in for GT7. For a while. Race Mod, Livery Editor? Don't even think it, you'll just be disappointed. New sounds, fairly realistic damage, world class A.I.? Yeah, don't go there either. Just expect a nice, prettier, shinier, MUCH smaller GT6 without Standards - cars anyway, maybe tracks. Samus and I both were gently evangelizing more, though of course in my typical TenD manner, I'm always a scouche more ambitious on what might be coming, so mentioned up to 150 cars, a number of car classes, 20 to 30 tracks, and I even tossed out the "livery" word now and then - hopefully, to be sure. But I was prepared for the much, MUCH smaller, prettier GT6, with a scoop of cars and a handful of tracks. No Race Mod, no modification at all, little or no damage, marginally improved A.I., maybe, and for sure no Livery Editor outside of a few templates per car, if that.

Well. And then the presentation began. Well... ;)

I'm happy. I got WAY more than I expected. No, not everything, as I'd asked for quite a bit, but what I'm getting is pretty substantial. My various car classes, and the sports cars are lumped into an "N Series," which says to me there will be more than one class of sports car racing - like, how does a Miata compete with a Focus and Corvette? There is a good selection of cars. The tracks look great, and the Nurb returns! Rally racing! We get Photo Mode? Awesome, and so many locations! And ZOMG, a Livery Editor! Online racing with championships with those real prizes. Offline, nearly 120 events! And more to come I believe. Who expected all this?

Oh yes, people wanted world class engine notes and radically different physics, simulator level damage, night racing, and weather up to severe. To an extent, not unreasonable wishes. Well, we can't have it all, that's just life. I didn't get everything for Christmas I wanted either. Some things are unclear. Will we get an Event Maker to make our own races with, online or off? Will we have private lobbies, or user lobbies at all? Can we manage anything in online racing ourselves? What will the bots race like? Don't know.

But, there is a "but." ;) The game isn't done yet. It will have around five more months of work done on it. You could be polite and lobby for things. A lot of our wishes will likely be put off for a Spec II update, or most likely GT7, but we can ask. Kaz does pay attention to his fans. Maybe I should emphasize... faaaans. People who want to dialog, suggest, make requests, not throw their egos around and bully like Donald Trump. Could we get some more goodies trickled down from GT7? Maybe, but I can't think that being belligerent about anything, threatening to run off to Those Other Games, will be anything but counterproductive to your causes.

And keep in mind, GT7. It's being worked on. Who knows what we'll be getting with it? Let's not have epic tantrums just yet. Like trustjab and a few other diehard loyalists, I'm the eternal Gran Turismo optimist. I think my optimism in the game, Kaz and the team, was justified today. I got some GOOD stuff in Sport to look forward to. Maybe more than that when it nears release. It bodes well for GT7. In Kaz and PD I trust. Mark my words.

Good Morning people what a night. We finally getting a Gt game on ps4.
I think it looks good, people expecting Driveclub visuals are mad.I just hope performance is rock solid.
Sound I could not hear anything over the tyre squeel and commentary but this is Pd's kryptonite.I hope for better.
I really liked the yellow flags and pace car awesome we need more of that.
Collisions need to improve massively even more than sound.
Pitch fork put away for now but I have it at my side.

DRIVECLUB is a fine game. It's fun to play, car list is pretty good and, from a technical perspective, It's a masterpiece. The lighting system is the best one I've seen so far (I was used to Forza's, which is static and kinda meh) and I was blown away. Same for the weather effects and the cockpit views. Poor/weak sounds and not enough city tracks would be my only two complaints. And yes, I bought a PS4 a few months ago mainly for DRIVECLUB (and Bloodborne).

Yeah, NFS titles these days are still poor in the physics department. I have fun with them still, but they're not titles I would buy at launch anymore.

Driveclub is not the worst, Need for Speed is by far. Driveclub actually has physics and not "insta-D1GP drift" physics.
Eh I feel that need for speed has an actual target audience. DC is just drifting through space, waiting to pick up the occasional straggler.

Haha like they've never done that before... sigh...

As far as the uproar about sounds go, I'm confused. Although it'll be pointless saying anything positive, I will anyway. Whilst watching last night's final race I tried to pay particular attention to the Renault which won the race. I like this car on pcars, it's a definite favourite of mine and sounds great (and very distinctive). It's impossible to talk with any accuracy after only watching a live stream but the Renault sounded just like it sounds in pcars to me. Also the Z4 had noise coming from it rather than wind coming out of it. As for the people who appear disturbed, alarmed or offended even by this latest pd game, what a huge suprise!
