PD's "outdated assets" weren't anything like Forza's "outdated assets".

I am not sure what point you are making or what difference it makes?

PD has made it clear that they re-built the cars completely-- just like Forza with the transition to the latest console. I have not see them mention how much of each track is new but it seems like they are also getting a serious overhaul. Forza redid all their tracks and many were from scratch with laser scans etc. So regardless of what the old models were like on each title... both needed to transition to more detailed ones. My point is... that is a lot of work and you can't expect 500 cars and 30 tracks in the first title if you are making the transition to updated content. Forza 5 didn't have it any neither will GT Sport. Not a big deal and necessary to make progress.

I managed to get behind the wheel to try the game out for myself. As you can imagine, everyone there wanted to try the latest offering from Kazunori Yamauchi. My first drive was a half lap of The Nordschleife in a single brand race. Initial impressions for me, being a PC sim racer, the graphics, the polygon count per car and the scenery are almost photo realistic when you see them in person. However, my first driving impressions were a little underwhelming. I did not feel that I was totally connected to what was happening on the screen, in some of the corners the car would wash-out understeer without warning. For me, there was no real feeling of weight transfer and catching a slide was more thanks to the visual cues rather than a tactile feeling through the steering wheel. I guess I have been a little spoilt when it comes to sim rigs and controls lately, so comparing the experience with how I usually sim race, well, suffice to say it was quite a different experience to racing a PC title such as iRacing or Assetto Corsa

You are boring as hell. Am satisfaed with updated handling from GT6 as big majority of GT players. I dont need super, mega realistic handling. Most important is fun game, and balanced betwen sound, graphic, AI, handling. If you want 1000% real game than play other sim on PC. ;)

The cheapest should be Asian reg PS4, buy from HK online store. What's the standard full price reference ? I got my GT6 LE on release with Apex II book for about US $ 45, Asian reg ( JP print ). I never pay more than that for new release full priced game. PS4 games also around the same price range.

I wonder how GTS will be priced for Asian reg ...

Obviously prices vary but when we're talking about price-points of games we have to go by the RRP. The RRP for this game is in line with other full price games, it's not got a lower RRP as GT5 Prologue did, for example, or MGS Ground Zeroes. They never had an RRP of $60 in the US, this does.

I mostly buy physical but since this is a game I won't resell might go physical, problem is I'm running out of space.
You said physical twice.

Also you do realise discs have to be installed onto the ps4 as well? You don't save any storage space (if that's what you meant)

Seems like there's more price difference in Europe and North America than in Asia for full price vs budget title/best title/low price.

Any chance that GTS price will go down near release ? If preorder numbers are low, PD might lower the price point.

I know in Australia, software prices are sky high, I bought Silent Hill 2 Special Edition PS2 back in the day for near AU $100, GT3 as well

You may not but the FIA and PD sure do. I'm not sure you understand how significant it is for them to say an online championship will be officially sanctioned by the FIA and run as if it was a real world event. That is far more than just "an online event with the FIA name on it".

No we don't know how deep it will go yet but that is what they are claiming.

The FIA is barely hiding it primal motivation to partnership with PD in an officially sanctioned online championship. The main focus appears to be engaging with a new audience; it was a key subject of their 2014 Sport Conference:

‘Growing Motor Sport in a Changing World’
Discussing motor sport’s approach to reaching new markets, new fans and how racing can embrace new media in order to reach greater levels of popularity...

Day two of FIA Sport Conference 2014 will feature another key discussion regarding the future of motor sport – how to attract young people into motor sport.

Motor sport has universal appeal but at a time when young people are presented with a vast range of sporting, entertainment and lifestyle choices across a huge array of media platforms, encouraging youth participation and interest in motor sport is an increasingly tough challenge.

Helping to point the way to successful engagement with young people will be a panel of top racers and motor sport industry leaders including Alex Trickett, Head of Sport at Twitter UK, Darren Cox, Global Head of Brand, Marketing & Sales at NISMO, the motor sport arm of Nissan,…

You can still find the powerpoint presentation Darren Cox made to the participating delegates in Munich going extensively over the GT Academy success. A marketing achievement the FIA is possibly looking forward to repeat.

If anything the FIA is probably more interested in GT’s mass market appeal, than it’s intrinsic (in)capability of becoming the ultimate online racing simulator.

Where is it cheaper?

UK £49.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ZG1SVA4/?tag=gtplanetuk-20

US $59.99 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01771L7BU/?tag=gtplanet-20

Same price as every other 'full price' game.

I talked about official prices, of course.

Officially, price is often 70€.

And GT Sport will cost 60€. And on Amazon, I think, I'm sure, it will be even cheaper.

I will be buying a physical copy of GT Sport. I prefer physical games and I want that lovely steelbook too.

Same :)

Forza "needed" to because Forza 4 had a decent number of supposedly modern models (mostly carried over from Forza 2) that were so poorly done that Standard car equivalents from the GT games looked better. It still shows a good lack of foresight on Turn 10's part (or, if you're cynical, a great amount of foresight regarding what Turn 10 can get people to pay extra for) regarding some of the specific cars that were dropped, the obvious touch ups of some 360 models and the quick DLC train of cars that had been dropped from FM4, but there is still a point to be made there especially when Autovista is brought up.

GT6, a game that is borderline unplayable because PD wasted so much effort throwing eye candy and showing off some of the best car models in the business, still had some of the best car models in the business. No less than Kaz himself stated that the cars were pretty much built with multi-generational use in mind. And the only ones that really stuck out as needing improvement were the ones that debuted in GT5: Prologue. For all of PD's varying levels of incompetence over the past, I dunno, 10 years, one thing that everyone has always been able to agree on is that they make the best looking cars on the market. Gran Turismo 5, a game that came out nearly six years ago halfway through the previous console generation, has car models that are so needlessly detailed that you can read the embossed logos on the headlights in game. One can easily cherry pick a photomode picture from GT5 or GT6 and people wouldn't know what console generation the pic was from, and people do exactly that when they make those dumb comments about how great GT6 looked as a whole and how Drive Club/Forza 6 look like crap or whatever. So forgive me if I'm not buying the company line that PD "needed to transition to more detailed ones" to justify a car count that is less than a launch game from 3 years ago from another game developer who actually did need to work on their car modeling for this console generation.

Stop with the large font shouting.

If you can't post constructively then you will be getting a few days off.

Right, so you're trying to claim that when the Facebook guy said it would be a cheaper title what he meant was if you shop around and get some discounts you'll find it for less than the RRP? I highly doubt it, he was inferring the RRP would be lesser than normal.

It's not, it's a full price game.

It s cheaper
Official price is 59,99€ here, and full price is 69,99 for most games
And we can get cheaper with discount so..Mr Facebook is right

I like the sound of tires in GT6, no problem...
Yep, mainly confort tires. Yet, when I said similar (not equal), it's because as in GT6, GTS use different sound samples for each tire type. Of course, the sound levels and other aspects feels different in GTS. Anyway I hope for further developments in GTS's tyre sounds.
