Watched some videos on Youtube today, these are my impressions:

- Sounds improved, cars finally sound real (R8, Ferrari 458 exprecially...)

- Physics seems still a bit arcade compared to Assetto Corsa: hope this will be hugely improved, starting from collision model.

- Graphics are stunning

- There was a video with a race on an oval, in every turn there was too much noise from the tyres...after 10 laps this starts to be annoying to me. In real races u can't even hear tyres because of the noise by the engine.

Why do i have the feeling that PD have finally lowered the Tire Noise?

Unfortunatly I don't think so

It seems that with the newer 458 vid, they've quieted down the sound sample, although I hope there's a different sample soon. The one currently is just not cutting it TBH.

I'm really feeling the menu and music combination that PD has been doing for GTS. The beginning of that 458 vid is cleeeean:tup:. Even the way the game previews the car on track is a nice touch.

Plus that music sounds like it could be GTS's own theme for the Nurb whenever you load up the track.:D

Now onto Graphics. The track looks great, not much more to say there for now.

Now onto sound. The 458 sample sample is correct but it needs some more layers of brutality like induction noise, exhaust crackle and bangs, transmission noises and the sound needs to feel like it's part of the environment, right now it's more in its own bubble. I'd imagine in real life you could hear that Ferrari scream in the distance.

Still though, for now it's nice for a beta, just needs some more work.

Did you watch the 458 Challenge onboard cam video that I posted ? What do you think compared to the GTS ?

What the what.

@Ridox2JZGTE nah, please link it me.

I just compared the sample, or whatever PD is using for sounds on GTS, of the Ferrari in that video with the one in FM6... Pretty equal for me. I mean, is like FM vs GT most of the time so I went for that.
Now, as everyone said already, we need more violence in the sound and yep, that's it :)

Forza "needed" to because Forza 4 had a decent number of supposedly modern models (mostly carried over from Forza 2) that were so poorly done that Standard car equivalents from the GT games looked better. It still shows a good lack of foresight on Turn 10's part (or, if you're cynical, a great amount of foresight regarding what Turn 10 can get people to pay extra for) regarding some of the specific cars that were dropped, the obvious touch ups of some 360 models and the quick DLC train of cars that had been dropped from FM4, but there is still a point to be made there especially when Autovista is brought up.

GT6, a game that is borderline unplayable because PD wasted so much effort throwing eye candy and showing off some of the best car models in the business, still had some of the best car models in the business. No less than Kaz himself stated that the cars were pretty much built with multi-generational use in mind. And the only ones that really stuck out as needing improvement were the ones that debuted in GT5: Prologue. For all of PD's varying levels of incompetence over the past, I dunno, 10 years, one thing that everyone has always been able to agree on is that they make the best looking cars on the market. Gran Turismo 5, a game that came out nearly six years ago halfway through the previous console generation, has car models that are so needlessly detailed that you can read the embossed logos on the headlights in game. One can easily cherry pick a photomode picture from GT5 or GT6 and people wouldn't know what console generation the pic was from, and people do exactly that when they make those dumb comments about how great GT6 looked as a whole and how Drive Club/Forza 6 look like crap or whatever. So forgive me if I'm not buying the company line that PD "needed to transition to more detailed ones" to justify a car count that is less than a launch game from 3 years ago from another game developer who actually did need to work on their car modeling for this console generation.

You make a good point. My PS3 died 2 years ago but I do remember that even the GT5 garage/store car models looked fantastic. And the lighting on them was phenomenal in that static scene. But I don't think we ever saw interiors modeled at that level of detail. Perhaps that is why PD are building them new?

Some nice new videos are surfacing now but I have a feeling my most wanted cars to see, the TS030 and 908, were not loved the way I hoped.

Regardless, I am pleased by what I have seen so far.

AI
Not much has been seen but the insultingly rubbish effort we have been subjected to until now must be scrapped.

GRAPHICS

Everything looks sublime. There is some optimisation required to eliminate the pop-in of self-shading on trees and to at least reduce shadow detail pop-in. The HDR lighting is gorgeous and I cannot wait to see the sunset and sunrise at Circuit de la Sarthe.

SOUND
There certainly has been some improvement since GT6 but it would appear there is a significant way to go before Polyphony can be compared to Project CARS and Assetto Corsa. The engines are too clean sounding. Tire squeal is still too pronounced and needs to be reduced so as not to be so obtrusive.

CARS AND CIRCUITS
The initial feeling over GT Sport having 137 cars was disappointing. There is no other way to put it than disappointing. However, getting 137 cars, plus presumably some DLC, may not be so bad but that is relying on Polyphony not taking the proverbial and boosting the count with pointless duplication. Project CARS has about 125 (Exact figure welcomed) and that never feels a paltry offering due to there being no real duplication. I hope we see a few recent LMP cars.

In terms of circuits we are far more in the dark. We are all but guaranteed Fuji, Suzuka and Spa-Francorchamps will return along with what was likely an early GT Sport build of Circuit de la Sarthe in the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo unveil trailer. I think GT needs to start bolstering it's real world circuit offering though.

PRODUCTION VALUES
The area in which GT is always strong. The UI I have seen to date is quite spectacular with a contemporary minimalist style which I love. The car list thumbnail screen being a real highlight.

LIVERY EDITOR
All I can say is... yyyeeesss!!!

I think the engine sound itself is very good but there are so many sounds missing like brake squeal, transmission noise, interior noises/squeaks etc. The stand out thing is the tyre squeal. It just doesn't exist in real life (or is drowned out with all other noises) at least when it comes to slick shod race cars.

I hope these will be added as they present it at Nurb/E3/Gamescom.

I'd rather have them focus on engine sounds since they are the most satisfying.

I remember that particular sound in real life, but it depends as it does in the game, on the type of tire you're using. I'd not dare to say that's realistic, but is something that is present.
That being said, I also remember a comment about being too loud to give information about the tires to the player. I'd have to look for the source but I'm pretty sure of that.
