Turn 10 has ~70 full time employees, the rest of that 400 is the contractors and outsourcing.

Ah, I see, cheers @Imari - didn't know that.

A very different way of working than PD, it seems.

I guess we'll never know the budgets for both titles, but would be interesting to know how many $ per title are being poured into these things.

If that is the case then they pay-outs in the arcade mode should be generous otherwise it will be pretty impossible to get those 137 cars.

I really doubt there will be credits/earning in arcade mode. It'll be all online, I'd bet. Cars will probably be handed to you for a lot of things as well though.

It's possible that the game is not centered around car buying or collecting and might even restrict your ownership of cars until you've reached a certain level of proficiency in driving and safety rating. It's also possible that, in order to encourage online participation, you have to race online to earn most or all of your credits. The success of this game is going to depend on having a huge and robust online community and my guess is everything will be done to encourage that.

Different track layouts has different TOD?

Or just white balance and or exposure was very different in every photo?

Also cockpit view at least in GT6 iirc was always a couple steps darker exposure wise so that could be why you are noticing something different but they could very well be showing the same TOD.

Kaz has said that you may change the time of day before the race, it just wont change during the race.
Before it was hidden from public view, the Mazda MX-5 video showed the time on the dashboard display changing with each passing minute.

White balance and exposure don't change shadows.

So interestingly even Brands wasn't fully finished at the start of the event. Look directly above the steering wheel in the top photo, there is a row of...portacabins, billboards or something. They're not there in the bottom one.

Of course it is not finished, it will not be finished until release. Some asets will be straight up changed, some assets won't even exist yet, many asset will be optimised at a later stage too. That's the way development works.

I noticed flickering ("moving") shadows in live streaming video - it seems that build has TOD change. That also explains horrible shadow resolution. Compared to GT5P were lighting was pre-baked.

So maybe just different builds.

I think it has nothing to do with build. It's just different time of day. Clouds are in different positions too. Also light temperature is different.

But will you have to buy cars? Or will they be unlocked? Will credits just be reserved for stickers and such?

Preorders start with 1,000,000 credits, what does that buy?

The limited edition comes with 2,500,000 credits.

What if online racing has an entry fee?

Or no entry fee and prize credits for various position but also loss of credits for repairs?

What if you had to buy every car in the game?

PD could make so much money selling credits in the PS Store.

Fantastic stuff man, thanks a lot for the write-up

With this mention of other events, inc. the Tokyo one with guest drivers in competition, will you be attending any more events before release?

I haven't been told of any events as of yet before release but I know that I will be pushing very hard when it's released to attend the live finals as I'm sure we all will.

Not sure why you're posting a photo as evidence against the words of the person who makes the game.

“We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the framerate and the quality of the image *during* the race. So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on.”

Plus as noted, that is a photo scape. Presumably for the exact reason that shots like that won't be possible with the in-game track.
