That's the difference between a compressed youtube video and high quality, uncompressed footage.

It's not this. Compression will introduce artefacts not aliasing. Also, the direct feed video came from youtube too. It just shows how different the builds are in all these videos.

It gives me hope of the final game having a good image quality, because the high bitrate direct feed video that was uploaded to gamersyde, despite having a much better image quality than GT6, still has a lot of aliasing.

That's one thing I didn't quite get actually...
Why have a racetrack scape?

To set up racing shots with specific cars in a specific positioning.

^ this

As someone who spent hundreads of hours in photomode I can say it's pretty annoying to try and make the AI drive and postion themselves as I had imagined. Having the option to set everything up is a lot more fun and easy.

We're not sure what this is though. I think it's a Scape because of the background looking so real.

Oh dear. I remember trying to organize a shot in GT4 with every generation of Z car, in order. It took something like four hours of ramming and brake-checking!

Having an option to stage something like that on a track would be handy. Letting us pick our opponents in Arcade Mode would be too, of course.

It really doesn't matter if GT Sport doesn't have dynamic time and weather, as long as it has its newly-developed physics and sound, as well as the fact that if it has some really hot rides, good tracks and awesome gameplay (the Arcade/Free Play mode is one of the modes that can determine that), then it's fine with me.

That is a scape. Just like this is, taken from the Scapes section of the website

You can tell by the quality of the track, no textures are that good or detailed in game.

I'm looking forward to see how the weather look in GT Sport :)

I was wrong.

In your life, you're never wrong ?

Absolutely, I was more curious how you were so sure it was going to be included but now it's not you're only a little disappointed it isn't. Personally I'd be very disappointed if something I was certain to be included wasn't.

But wouldn't this create huge discrepancies between photos taken in replay mode on the actual race tracks, and these fake photo scapes with better detail...?

(if the scapes match the tracklist, of course)

It will, but that is seemingly what they're doing. The comparison shots between scape and in-game should certainly be interesting!

Isn't it more than that though? The Scapes are real life photos that you place the GT models in, right? I can see the in-game, replay and Scape track comparisons already!

There is so much confusion with the Scapes/in-game/replay graphics I'm not sure what is what right now.

Ha, quite. Anyway changing subjects somewhat but since I was reminded about it in the master thread, are we going to speculate/discuss what the location/track list could look like?

19 locations and 27 layouts doesn't give a lot of scope for tracks with multiple layouts, only 8 extra over 1 per location. First of all though, the locations.

These are confirmed

  1. Brands Hatch
  2. Nurburgring
  3. Willow Springs
  4. Unnamed dirt track location
  5. Northern Isle Speedway
  6. Tokyo
Which obviously leaves 13.

This is what was in GT6, minus the 4 above known to return:

  1. Fuji
  2. Suzuka
  3. Daytona
  4. Tsukuba
  5. Circuit de la Sarthe
  6. Indianapolis
  7. Monza
  8. Laguna Seca
  9. Spa
  10. Motegi
  11. Silverstone
  12. Ascari
  13. Goodwood
  14. Bathurst
  15. Red Bull Ring
  16. High Speed Ring
  17. Cape Ring
  18. Autumn Ring
  19. Deep Forest
  20. Grand Valley
  21. Eiger
  22. Trial Mountain
  23. Kart Space
  24. Special Stage X
  25. Apricot Hill
  26. GT Arena
  27. Matterhorn
  28. Sierra
  29. Mid-Field
  30. London
  31. Roma
  32. Madrid
  33. Cote d'Azur
  34. SSR5
  35. SSR7
  36. Toscana
  37. Chamonix
So the question is, which will make the cut? Personally, this would be my guess, based on their GT6 quality. In brackets is where I think the 27 variations will come from.
  1. Suzuka (1)
  2. Circuit de la Sarthe (1)
  3. Monza (1)
  4. Spa (1)
  5. Silverstone (2)
  6. Bathurst (1)
  7. Red Bull Ring (1)
  8. High Speed Ring (1)
  9. Grand Valley (2)
  10. Apricot Hill (1)
  11. Mid-Field (1)
  12. Tsukuba (1)
  13. Autumn Ring (2)
  14. Brands Hatch (2)
  15. Nurburgring (2)
  16. Willow Springs (2)
  17. Unnamed dirt track location (2)
  18. Northern Isle Speedway (1)
  19. Tokyo (2)
I don't think R246 will return for Tokyo, I think it'll be two versions of the new track. Only thing I'm not really sure on is there being only one dirt location, they could add more, and perhaps Autumn Ring or Grand Valley will get cut.

What is worrying though is there really isn't any place for more new locations, or if there are, some big name old locations won't make the cut.

Adding only one dirt location almost implies as though the rally aspect was merely an afterthought; something they decided to throw in there just to say they have it. However, I wouldn't like to think so considering the Group B concept cars PD threw into the mix, so I'd like to bet there will be another location thrown into the mix.

Bet most of the promo shots will be just that; track scapes. It's going to fool a lot of people thinking the game actually looks like this...

IMO that reeks of false advertising if they do not specify it for what it really is.

Well, to be fair, all previous GT trailers and promo stuff has been a little bit crafty, if we're generous.

Also, there's no direct confirmation of these track shots as 'scapes', right?

I'm sure we'll get more info at E3 anyhow...

@Samus I think there will be at least 5 or 6 new locations. In the interview at the CB they said that more never seen before locations would come to GT Sport (sorry I can't back that up since I got lost in all the info released).

Seattle is probably in and with the FIA connected I expect an overhaul of a few classics plus new race tracks. If La Sarthe makes it, it will probably have the Bugatti variant included since this version is used by FFSA for their French motorsport activities. It is why my guess as well is that Paul Ricard is going to make it in.

Bathurst probably isn't returning due to the more "European oriented" GT Sport.

You could happily lose tracks 10-13 and whack some new ones in, no trouble, inc. another dirt track for sure.
Also, guaranteed: tracks as DLC, and probably ready to go at launch.

And more scapey promo shots :P

You're right that they have been pulling these tricks before though, also in the sound department when they used real life recordings in their trailers in order to hide the 'Dysons'.

I don't think they're even "scapey". They just look like pretty pictures that were nicked from Google Images.
