dents and scratches are fine, but where is the detachable damage? ^^ that's what I want
It will, it call super premium for one reason
How would you know that? You're just guessing.
Was going to say that ^. Doesn't matter if it's superpremium or not... Remember on GT5 that all the cars had damages with aerodynamic effects (rally cars with opened or no doors used to ran slower due to air resistance for example), also a standard used to ran slower if it was getting damaged due to air resistance.

Mechanical damage is where it's at for me.

I want to see flat tyres, blown engines, etc.

*Edit*
Actually, not sure about blown engines.
That means end of race.
But flat tyres definitely. :)
I think blown engines are a great feature, so long as it's an optional level of damage in everything but the FIA competition. In Assetto Corsa for example, you can scale damage from 0-100% in increments of 10 which works really well. It prevents one of the exploits that was common in GT5/6 which is to downshift really quickly, far faster and sooner than would be possible in real life, to help the car rotate faster. Completely unrealistic and ruins the immersion, for me anyway and to be frank, that kind of exploit has no place in an FIA competition. Can you imagine the mocking and ridiculing live broadcasts will get in the sim and real racing communities if guys are lightning shifting from 6th to 1st gear entering a corner?

On this board you also find very negative impressions.
Including those that have and those that haven't played it.
Actually, not so much from those that have played it.

What makes you think that those that have played it and given positive responses are simply 'fans' with an agenda?
Or do you dismiss those because it doesn't align with your impressions from YouTube clips?
In regards to one of the people he was responding to, it's very easy dismiss an opinion from someone who claims complaining about the A.I. is not a real issue & that you should go away if you're not bothered about real things such as tire marks.

Yes, that person definitely has a review devoid of bias.
Creating criticism when we haven't even played it, no matter what any of us deem as conclusive proof, is questionable at best.
There's this argument again that you can't judge the game at all until you've played it.

The general complaints about the car list, sounds, graphics, physics, etc. are all very much valid because they're formed off what PD is giving us. For all the positive reviews out there so far, there are enough negative ones to support the criticisms those who haven't played it.

Cosmetic damage would surprise me. Even proper mechanical damage would surprise me.

They are already fixing sound - I can't see PD fixing two major things in a span of one game.

Dark magic.

I expect generic mechanical damage that I will turn off because it's so lame.

Where there's smoke there's fire.

@McLaren just put it best, no there isn't. You could be right or we could post up various pictures showing the same banner on cars that will probably never see themselves in this game, nor haven't in past games while holding the same banner. Just like when people had a cow about Porsche sponsor being left in the La Sarthe model and thinking "so perhaps we'll see Porsche". The more likely indication is simply just advertising.

I hope not. Have you seen the picture of loads of other tracks inside the Isle of Man track? Can you image the tremendous effort involved in that? How many more of the tracks inside that loop would it be possible to make in the same timeframe?

Most of them in that IOM picture, probably.

I'm hoping that this venture into esport will ultimately be a very good thing for Gran Turismo for the reason above. I'm sure the heat will be turned up on PD to nail down their physics simulation when it comes under the scrutiny of the sim racing world once the FIA championships are up and running. This could well fast-track the changes/features we've all been wanting. Things which seem to have not been a priority for PD may well become top priority to keep this project alive. If that happens then it will be great for the future of Gran Turismo moving forward.

Plus it's not just the size. Nurburgring is big but it's 90% trees, grass and fences with no large vistas. IOM runs through many built up areas and once it gets out on the mountain lots of huge wide-open vistas, there is a huge amount of detail to it.

I can't imagine how long it's going to take them to do it with full detail. All for a circuit with next to no history of car racing, it's a bike track. I just don't understand their decisions most of the time. The only way this would make sense if they outsourced most of the work but we known the likelihood of that.

Oh and one more thing, you can forget actually racing cars on it, not wide enough. So all those years spent modelling, time they could've spent modelling several other tracks, just for use in the same way as Goodwood in GT6.

Just to give everyone an idea how big the IOM track is (plus it's an AWESOME picture regardless :D):

There is one IOM floating around made for GPL which has been converted to several games (rFactor and AC), but even that is only an abridged version (30km vs the full 60km of the real one). I think there's a PS2 TT game (not PD's Tourist Trophy) that also has IOM, but I don't know if it's the full version.

If PD managed to pull this off, I will forgive them for everything else

It'd make perfect sense as a track for GT7. For an eSports-focused game like GTS? I don't see it.

Most people (the casuals) don't want to spend 15-20 minutes doing a single lap, I'm guessing.

They could split it up into sections, just like the Sierra event in GT6. But yeah it's probably too much for 99% of players. Imagine being on your record lap and touching a wall 1km from the finish and turning the time red :mad::banghead:

...It'd be nice to have IOM as DLC after the release of the game. This place might be a blast for cruising around.

...Oh wait, this is GT:S, not GT7. Cruising has no place in motorsport. Hmm..... Still, will be nice to have.
