I did indeed - because it isn't. As all of the in-game information exchanged between consoles occurs entirely within the confines of the local area network - ... - it behaves AS a local area network.
In this special case, I agree.

Some people will just buy it. Some will have an opportunity to try it. The rest of us will make up our mind based on what we see and read. As with most games there will be positive and negative reviews to read and we will need to sift through those and determine our impressions from those. As you can see on these boards there are plenty of people who have been burned enough that they have no faith at all and just a feature they want missing is enough to say "enough PD wont get my money". I really want this to be good but I'm not going to support it unless it is. PD are going to need to show me something much better. I'm fine with the features what I am not seeing is something that matches the authenticity Graham Stoker spoke of and now I'm even doubting that the service can provide a credible racing championship. This game has a lot of potential and I want to see it reach that potential.
If you wish to make up your mind from things you see and read, then that's your perogative.
Personally, I prefer to experience it myself.

People have their own wishes for a game.
It it doesn't fall inline with their wishes, I have no issue with them complaining.

I too think the game has potential.
I fear that some expect it as the be all and end all of online gaming.
Actually, truth be told, all I see is some bagging the game because they anticipate it won't be.
All I see are 2 Championships over-seen by the FIA.
The rest is a game.

Like the game, don't like the game.
Buy it, wait for the bargin bin, or never buy it.
The choice is yours.

Judging via YouTube clips using an early build as the definitive argument point as to why the game fails seems moot to me.

Not everyone can try it, I sure can't since they decided not to go ahead with the beta.
Yep.
Biggest disappointment so far with this game.

*Edit*
Here's the truth.
I will buy GT Sport.
Looking forward to playing GT on PS4.
Will it live up to my personal expectations ... who knows?
Does everyone have the luxury to purchase a game they question? ... probably not.

I get what you are saying.
Not everyone will buy it to see.
Some will buy it, or not buy it, after reading internet critiques.

My issue is with the criticism from people after seeing YouTube clips from an early build.
My biggest issue is with people making claims of which they have absolutely no clue.

Until I see definitive proof of race settings, making a comment either way is moot.
eg. I have not once seen any race options set.

Making claims regarding this is nothing more than assumption.
Was boost on?
Was it off?
Is Boost even a setting in GTS?
Answer ... no-one knows.

Criticising, or questioning the game when these facts are not obvious is pointless.
Why some wish to pursue these points without knowing the facts boggles my mind.
The question is why?
You seem happy to ignore those that have played the game and given positive responses.
And yet you don't question why others make claims towards the negative when there is absolutely no evidence.

Bias is a two-way street.

Another topic:

At the same time, this makes me wonder why they didn't increase the rates for the connections (at least the ones) to the streaming client (assumig that's how it was done) in order to make it look smoother.
Maybe the impact on performance would've been too much, which could've resulted in bad frame rates...

Or maybe they simply didn't want to change anything, it just seems a bit strange in terms of promoting the game.

Someone near me at the Copper Box on Thursday commented, during the Nations Cup, "How on Earth have they managed to get lag on a LAN?!"

You better hope it was, imagine if it was forced and without option to turn it off...
One does not simply drive 10 seconds faster for no obvious reason.

Is it by any chance possible that the spectator mode source was being fed through a server back at PD's offices?
It is possible, but the question remains about whether they did it or not.

Almost no doubt.
There were 2 junior Go-karters in the field.

It was though, originally blamed on rubber-banding.
Very few questioned this assumption.
And many jumped on the band-wagon.
Rubber-banding with no AI?

My point stands.

Few questioned it because doing so would just be being pedantic for no good reason. The meaning was clear.

Pedantic?
People on this board?

You can't be serious.

LOL, you know what I mean though, having waded through posts quibbling over rubber-banding vs boost I really couldn't care less what we call it.

I hate the idea of anything artificial helping people catch up. And actually, I'd hate it most if it was helping me catch up!

Fair point.

But it is a game first and foremost.
And it's made for people of all skill levels to enjoy.
I think some lose point of that.

A bit of boost, given the option, in that sense is good.
Even rubber-banding AI.

Whether that meets the requirements of all playing is a different mater.

Will GTS maintain tunning ? Its impossible to adjust gear ratios in Project Cars. A longer 2 gear will became a 3. A shorter 2 will became in 1 place. Other than that there's no option. That makes no sense at all if you want to race seriously.

I have seen no evidence of a tuning menu so far.

The only thing I can offer is that cars still hold a PP value.
Whether that suggests tuning in the form of engine upgrades or aero tweaks, is questionable.

It makes sense in a game that purports to be a Sim to only be able to make the tuning adjustments that are available on the real car. I know there are some exceptions to that in Project Cars but for the most part that is the case. It is no different in Assetto Corsa and other sims either.

There's no limit in real car though, the limit is only in the regulations in a organized event. Xtrac gearboxes fitted on GT3 cars have wide range of ratios available, the possibility to use them depend on the regs. For road cars, there's nothing in real world that limits what gearboxes can be fitted, one can fit holinger or hewland boxes on Mustang GT or BMW 1M road car if wished to.

A road car also often can switch final gear from similar model as they are interchangeable.

Same with LSD, a road car came with viscous can be easily exchanged with clutch pack or spool of needed.

If the car in real is based on a a series where the car has fixed parts, then it's reasonable to impose similar limits.

I don't know, but maybe that's the case. After watching videos from the streaming and videos recorded offscreen, both about the spectator mode, I believe they have different quality, the offscreen having much better quality, specially regarding car behavior.

So it seems something is wrong with the source of the streaming.

What's exactly the source of the streaming ? Another PS4 in spectator mode, but not in the race ?
I don't think it was another PS4 handling it. I think it very well could have been something off site running the broadcasting portion of the game.

@Tassie_tiger Is this the same Tassie Tiger over on the PSN forums who helped everyone out when Drive Club was first released with all those great posts:tup:..I don't go in there much now but I believ ol' Ford Gord is still posting away pics Mine go in here now..Welcome to :gtpflag: (if it is)

Possibly. It could be there or at another place, receiving the data from the race server and streaming the video.

All I know is that the streaming looked different from the spectator been shown at the event screen.
