If it has taken Kaz 20 years to wake up, so be it. GT 1-6 are history. Those games are in the archives. I'll look at GTS in the same bain as AC and PCARS from here on. For me, I have to. I won't compare this game to the past games.

Yeah I think PD wanted a break from that GT tradition, and I'm all for it.
I honestly don't think we'll have a GT7 in that normal way anymore. It's too old-fashioned.

This isn't necessarily a good thing for me, I loved the old style games and I hope they return in some way or another. I don't mind an eSports focus but I'd similarly enjoy a comprehensive single player experience that acts almost like a racing RPG.

GT games have stood the test of time due to their game design(for the most part) - how relevant would something like GT Sport be looking back in 5 years?

It seems to be the way of the industry now to create games that are exemplary in their time-period but when looking back they aren't worth your time because they tried to impress with the constraints of the console rather than chasing a timeless design like MGS, Mega-Man or Zelda.

GT3 will never feel outdated to me - but I understand that may be nostalgia speaking.

There was a lot that was good about the old games however, would hate for them to throw the baby out with the bath water and be left with not very much.

Yeah, you guys are right, I went a bit too far with that.
I'm here because GT has always been the main racer for me, and I've loved every one.

I guess my hope is that they can strip away all the things that annoyed people about the old games (grinding, boring events, etc) and produce an amazing DLC package perhaps, that covers all these things that people want in a numbered GT game. Like a 'Career DLC' or something.

One thing won't be returning though - the huge car counts. It's too much work nowadays to get one car right, so 1200 at once? No chance.

PD with GTS now be like...

My guess (this might've been said already) is that there just isn't a model ready in any of the current builds - there isn't much point in having a selectable brand with no cars in it.

Also, if you notice, Subaru isn't listed in that first image, yet it was in the first public build. For that reason I'm betting barring sudden legal/license conflict, any brands you've seen on any sort of public or promotional material will make it to the full game - less than half of the content car/track-wise has been revealed, so there's a lot to come yet.

I do think it's odd that so little new content has been shown (two-ish new cars and extremely brief and obscure video footage of the unnamed dirt track I believe?), especially for one of the biggest gaming events of the year. However there's still quite a few more shows and events coming up that'd allow for more extensive reveals and coverage. It wouldn't surprise me if Sarthe gets revealed at Le Mans (especially considering the ties to the Bugatti announcement), and if the Copper Box event actually "leaked" it's existence, Pax Prime wouldn't be a terrible place to show off a playable build of Seattle. As for cars, in the past PD has revealed full lists anywhere between a couple weeks to a month before launch, but they could also take a T10 approach and slowly unveil the list piece by piece to steadily build hype up to launch day.
I agree with you and it's sound reasoning. 👍

Although as pointed out by @Traviizter Honda and Citroen are shown in Brand Central but we are yet to see cars from either of them.
So there is that.

There was barely any promotion to it , it released on a console only few were still playing , when everyone was buying PS4's , full of flaws and still sold 5 Mil. How is that bad?
Just the 85 million installed userbase you mean? Even now PS4 is not even half of that. People are not stupid you know. They read reviews and base purchase decision on information they get. Likewise I do the same. The series is dead for me. I suspect it is for a lot if people.

You may not enjoy the series , but millions of others do. Were you expecting 85 million people to buy a single game? Just because the series is dead to you , it's not dead to others including me.

You where suggesting that the lack of sales was down to eveyone dropping the PS3 for the PS4. I stated why that can't be the case. You are looking forward to this game. Good for you. I hope it lives up to your expectations. I really do. I just can't look at it like that anymore.

GTS not appearing in the press conference is made all the more stranger when you see how relatively well Forza Horizon 3 did in terms of buzz...I hope Sony don't botch the marketing of GTS or it may struggle to hit 5 million units:

Did you see the latest trailer direct from the GT site?
I'd be interested to know if that changes your mind about GTS or not...

Gt6 was launch at the start of PS4 life cycle, and they still flogged 5 million and counting....

And If people didn't buy it then it was possibly to similar to gt5 in format, and I for one didn't bother buying GT 6, then maybe the game format was geting long in the tooth.

The physics of GT 6 were vastly improved on gt5 but that wasn't an issue as I had not played Gt6 and assumed it was the same game but the next instalment.

With online FIA sanctioned league racing then interest is likely to be more from media/magazines then if it had been another GT7 game.
With all these factors it's gonna be bigger sell

@Brend that infographics is irrelevant because it shows that Infinite Warfare interested people more than the original Modern warfare remaster
BTW to receive more informations on GTS we might aswell wait for september, i don't see anything of much importance anytime soon.
It's all about chatter though, there's not much to say about a remaster of a game most have played. That's probably why more people were talking and/or slating Infinite Warfare more. No such thing as bad publicity.

Aero and camber both went backwards from GT5 to GT6. One could make a case that physics were better in GT5 vs GT6.

GT5 is regarded as one of the worse GT games and it was the best selling exclusive on PS3. Go figure. If GTSport does the same, it will be pretty good for a "dead" franshise. :D
If this "dead" franchise continues to be biggest selling Sony first party IP, I think will be a great achievement. IIRC so far highest selling on PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3. Hopefully they can achieve the same on the PS4, which is probably a "dead" platform.
I expect a huge presence at gamescom as racing games are huge in Europe.Racing games seem to be dead in America.
GT SPORT looks like it will be releasing at an exciting time for PlayStation with VR and maybe Neo being available. Hopefully Gamescom they have such a setup that utilises both, higher frame rates and better IQ should help a lot the experience.

Trailers do very little to change the mind of some, as they are usually tarted up and not exactly representative of gameplay, or sometimes even features within the game. They are mostly just pretty videos, more often than not. What would be more convincing to me is actual seat time, which is hopefully something that can happen in the form of a demo.

But it was gameplay and replay only... Not your typical GT fare.

Confused...

But yeah, playing it for sure is preferable. GT Academy demo soon eh?

Yeah and watching cars drive around the track does not help me in deciding if I like it or not. Sure it may look pretty, but like I said, its just a video. What usually does it for me is seat time, like I said, because we already know the game is going to look nice. I'm not sure how that was confusing.
