Yeh, can't seem to find it now either.
I did watch it (not live, the Playstation Underground clip) earlier.
It was a guy in a checkered shirt sitting with Kaz. on a couch.
Kaz was behind a wheel.@CoolColJ

Yeah I was watching it live and then Spiderman interrupted the stream just when they were going to talk about sound 🤬. I then had to do things and I come back to see what I missed and everything is gone :(.

One thing that did stand out to me that no one mentioned yet was the opening scene they showed for Nurburgring, the amazing looking trees are actually 2D sprites. As the camera was panning slowly towards the track all the leaves and branches started to clip into each other as they kept trying face the camera.

This is the best we have so far. An AF Corsa-like livery.

What's the difference between VW GTI VGT Gr3 (S) and without (S)? Only 6 PP separating them. With less than 200 cars if PD is still padding the car list like crazy I'm gonna be seriously pissed 👎

The leaves maybe, but the trunks are really 3D :)

I'm on my phone now so can't check it properly, but I believe you are talking about the loading screen, that seems to be the 3d track, but actually is just a scape with the car driving on it. Scapes are 2d, but the trees when the 3d track is finally load are clearly 3d.

Not sure I like it, but it was interesting that the new Hyundai had red front and black rear wheels.
(First evidence I've seen of that)

Wonder if that's a set livery or if it's something we'll be able to do ourselves?

Well, still a lot of footage and it is looking a lot better. There is no way they made that much of a jump in less than a month, that 'beta' build at the London event must've been several months old. Probably the build they were planning to submit to Sony for the public beta, that they then (seemingly quite rightly) decided wasn't good enough. This is several steps on, visually.

Yep, no way they made that jump over a small period of time.

THIS IS INSANE

@Shinu and I both said this a month ago. You were probably too busy being outraged.

Stage demos and main builds are probably different. Usually developers do separate builds and that does not permit them making changes to it. What is strange that demo builds are usually made weeks maybe months ahead so they probably noticed critical bugs or missing trees :D.

A new version of the branch of code on what they would have tested to death to make sure it was a stable build what worked for what they wanted to do. This branch is probably a good few weeks old at the very least. As @Shinu beat me to

There is no way they would turn up to host a tournament on fresh code. That branch of code would have been tested for weeks for stability to ensure the competition went off without a hitch, you just don't turn up hoping for the best on the fresh branch, even if it came at the cost of not being able to how how far along they were at the unstable end. Won't be anything to do with the public beta either.

IIRC the build wasn't even a day old, it looked better than trailer footage IMO due to improvements made. I think it's a case of a lot of their development now starting to take shape, probably getting things they've been working on for a while running well. I wonder at what % quality the game is now, looks incredible.

What do you mean, the sounds are a huge improvement, listen to the bit at the Nurburgring

Also the gameplay bits look lower quality than the replays.

But I can't believe I'm saying this for a GT game, but the sounds are decent.

I hear some improvements but the car sound at 1:16 and 1:20 kinda reminds me of hissing sound in GT6

That new screenshot set looks very nice. Picking up on a few posts from past pages...

I think is a way for them to stop wasting their staff's time with 3d photo locations and just have everyone focusing on track modelling.

I mean just look at this:

ronda-spain-gt6-5.jpg

and imagine how much time they wasted scanning, modelling, texturing, setting the lighting and optimizing it to run on the ps3 just so we could put a car on that bridge area.

And all of that had to be thrown out now because it just doesn't look good enough anymore.

But the scapes require minimal work to be done (judging by how they have 1000 already), and they can keep them forever if they want because a photo will always look good.

Their ways of dealing with Ronda have been extremely weird indeed, along the lines of showing off how much of the town they've modelled I think they also indicated it would be a course maker location, plus they showcased photos of rolling cars outside the bridge area. On the other hand what's actually been put in the game was the extremely limited bridge stage, textured in very poor quality.

I fear they might be taking a quantity over quality approach with the Scapes once again.

Sport mode will have dedicated servers with higher player count
Normal online lobbys will have P2P servers/mode with less player count
sry for my english

That's very interesting info I haven't heard anywhere else, so we have yet to see if the P2P online play will be improved. The other answers Kaz gave confirmed once again that there will be a damage model and again, that their approach to time of day and weather is different with GTS, letting the player choose set conditions before the race.

Looks like there's a rainbow

Rather more colour banding. :indiff:

It wasn't the scape loading screen, it was after the track finished loading, the menu and everything was on screen.

I just went over more videos and it just wasn't that one scene, I can only speak about the Nurburgring but most of the trees are 2D sprites.

From the looks of it the entire tree isn't a 2D sprite, the base trunk is 3D but it has independent bunches of leaves and branches that are 2D sprites it seems. Maybe its like that cause of overwhelming number of trees on that track. I just hope the other tracks aren't filled with 2D sprited trees.

Hi Guys you should be able to still watch it here, I just watched it back it starts around the 20min mark early on the feed 👍

I captured this off screen so not HD! But this shows the new marker system for the apex/driving line to help learn the track and position to be in for a faster lap. Great idea as I was never a fan of the driving line and always take it off. I also note the (red) recommended gear to be in is there still, this has really helped me for a quick look before the corner if I am rusty on a track 👍
