Can we expect some news before a main event like gamescom? I don't see a lot of hype for this GT with so many unanswered questions like career mode, sound, car count or collisions.
By the way, I hate the VW VGT engine sound, there is something wrong.

The structural piece in the middle reminds me of the old 30's car with the riveted seam running down the center of the body.
The magnesium alloy bodied* Type 57 Atlantic?

I think I see it, too.

*production version was aluminium, but they kept the riveted seam, because style.

Full car list, full track list, full Campaign Mode details, more on the livery editor, etc.

Need I go on?

Exactly. What's left for them to really showcase? The remaining cars? The remaining tracks? The Scapes were a nice surprise, but as someone previously mentioned those will get exhausted relatively quickly.

While the Livery Editor is exciting, it isn't much off from other livery editors we've seen in other games. The potential of the new sound model (AES) which will supposedly be ready for launch is what many of us are banking on.

I'm more than willing to welcome more surprise features, which PD have been known to just spring on us (remember how we were all both excited and perplexed when they showed driving on the moon?) But given the e-sports nature GTS is based on, they're running thin on things to catch us off guard about.

Damage, both mechanically and visually, is definitely something people would look forward to seeing/experiencing.

And weather/night racing. We know they'll be there, but we haven't actually seen either.

I would love to see the night/weather racing as well, though I don't think it'll be much of a deciding factor on whether or not to purchase since we already expect it to be there. What would be lovely to see is the eye-candy it may produce. However, with dynamic weather knocked out the window that leaves a lot of mixed emotions.

Imagine how amazing it would've been to race the Nurburgring with fireworks flying and illuminating the forest only to see midway through the night the heavy fog rolls in obstructing your vision with only your headlights trying their best to show you the F-Type GT3 in front of you.

The implementation of weather makes a difference to a certain extent. See FM6 and their puddle and hydroplaning system. It actually makes a pretty big difference to how you drive over a track like GT4 Tsukuba that is just uniformly "wet". How the physics system responds to wet surfaces and puddles is a question that needs to be addressed.

And don't dismiss the eye candy aspect too much. Eye candy is a big part of Gran Turismo, see Scapes for reference. Polyphony haven't really nailed rain in a game yet, both GT5 and GT6 in particular had pretty lackluster visual representations of rain, even for the time. Polyphony needs to make a big step up to be on par with what FM6/FH3/pCARS/F1 2016/Driveclub are offering.

Until we see the in-game equivalent of this, I think it remains a valid question.

Night would be good to see too, although their implementation is already pretty good. The only problem with night in GT5/6 was the low number of light sources, which should be less of a problem on PS4.

Expecting to see GTS footage and stuff from now until November would be like trying to wake up animals from winter hibernation.

Did I mention it's cold this side and that blankets aren't working?

The graphics in that comparison video between GT6 and GTS are like day and night. I though GT5 and GT6 were impossible to improve upon, but I was wrong. If there is something PD never fails at being ahead of the competition is in graphics. Too bad there won't be any day/night cycle... That I'm sure would be a hit on performance, but so far no other racing game did it as well as GT.

Still not an instant buy. I'll give GTS the benefit of the doubt though. Let's see how it stands a year or two after release and then I'll blow the dust off my PS4 to try it out. Hopefully more content and improvement of sounds.

Gran Turismo Sport right now is in my view, an impending disaster.

Firstly, Polyphony has not released all the details about the game, like the full track and car list, and other important details. Secondly, Polyphony is releasing a game that is so different than past games, that it could just bomb on release.

I hope they are certain this game, they believe is a "reboot" of the series, is actually revolutionary for the Gran Turismo Series. From what I have seen, Gran Turismo Sport is more like the boot for the series. :(

Firstly, Polyphony has not released all the details about the game, like the full track and car list, and other important details.

To be fair, no racing game that I can remember has listed its entire car and track list over four months out from release. That'd be a poor decision.

I think a trickle approach a la T10 would be a nice move for PD from a PR perspective: releasing a new group of cars every week is a great way to keep your game in the news cycle. On the other hand, they don't have as many to showcase this game (especially if they skipped those we've already seen), and part of the fun of previous releases – for me, anyway – was trying to figure out the car list based on revealed screenshots.

Secondly, Polyphony is releasing a game that is so different than past games, that it could just bomb on release.

It could. It could also prove to be just what the genre was looking for, and become a breakout success story. I'll admit I'm leaning more towards the former than the latter – I can't imagine this has the same sort of draw for casuals as a more traditional GT – but I'd be happy if proven wrong on release. I've always said that success for GT – or Forza, PCARS, AC, or any of them – is good for the genre as a whole.

Uh huh.

GT5 and 6 were fine for their time, but it's been three years since and there are are other games that have taken what they did and moved further with it.

Two things those videos had me thinking:
  1. That PCARS transition is stunning. It almost makes me want to load the game up.
  2. I've only just now realized the wet weather physics and general improvements from FM6 should carry over to FH3. Most excellent.

If this was Codemasters coming up with a Grid for the current gen I would be very intrigued and interested. But this being PD I am very worried.

GT6 threw out a lot of the freedom that made previous GT games fun to play even when you didn't feel like racing. Things likely setting up imaginary One Lap Magic events with the beginning races for example. GT5 still had that anything goes feeling after leveling up, not hard for veterans to the series, but maybe frustrating for a casual looking for domination with a 900hp Skyline.

GT4 still had the magic, R5 tires cured most of the understeer, and nitrous was dirt cheap.

Plus casuals had a secret weapon called the Gameshark here. Rendering all grinding null and void in one fell swoop.

I think the casuals started leaving once they actually had to work to get ahead. They want their 900hp racing slick monster from the word go.

I have been with GT since the first, I own all 6 of the main games. I want GTS to be amazing, but I am not very confident it will be. Especially if it comes across as super serious, and sterile of the dash of fun that kept me playing the old games to this day.

I did not know Horizon had that :embarrassed: And I have never tried it in Project Cars since the game stopped working for me on Win 10. I got Assetto Corsa now which is pretty decent.

Darn. I can't wait for Horizon 3 now :D

I'd blame Windows 10 more so than Pcars. That OS is awful to games in my experience.

I only have time for a few hours a week on GT so consider myself as a semi-casual player.
But the combination of the Seasonal Events which pay big bucks, Quick-Match and Arcade Mode, especially with the Course Maker and the modded tracks available.
That's pretty much all a casual gamer really needs. and it has plenty of freedom.
I can earn cash quickly and just go and race either online or offline.
