And 57,880 people replied to it, and it's not manly to chicken out of a conversation, so now I have to get you to understand my side so I can get out of it the right way. Unfortunately, as always, people are hell-bent on taking what I'm saying the wrong way, so I have to keep correcting them even though they want to believe I'm some horrible person I'm not.
And that's what happens when you post things like that publicly. Either way, that's your problem, you're trying to force people into seeing and agreeing with your side to stop an argument you created, and the problem with that is that it's just not going to happen. What you're saying is understood, it's just that it isn't going to be something that some will agree on anytime soon. Not one person is saying anything about you being a horrible person, you seem to try to put words into peoples mouths often though.

No it isn't. I just want people to focus on topics and activities they enjoy. How are you not getting this?
Which is hypocritical.

Unfortunately, as you can see, I'm not in a position to do that right now. First I have to get people to stop thinking I have some agenda against them.
You absolutely don't. Just stop replying to them and start posting your opinion on GT. You aren't going to change people's minds by continuing the back and forth. You just need to learn when to stop hitting reply ;)

Well, I guess that's your perception. But if you don't enjoy the series anymore, wouldn't it be more logical to just move on to something else? I don't get this mentality.

Not asking you to pretend that you're OK with it. Just, if you don't like it anymore, or prefer to play another game nowadays, why not do that instead?
Did you miss this part of my post?

Ironically, the reason we keep bitching about the flaws in GT is because we want to see something done about it. We don't pretend that we're okay with something if there is something plainly wrong with it. We want the GT series to be back at the top like it once was because we still have an affinity for it.

Besides, with how visible GTP is, I'm pretty sure PD is well aware of all the problems with the game.
Same mistakes time and time again. Yeah right.
And how do you expect me to behave when I'm stuck trying to justify myself and get people to see why I have issues despite the fact that the very people I'm trying to talk to seem intent on vilifying me?
You can start by not initiating these arguments in the first place.

That's because you're only seeing what you want to.

Ironic.

Insinuating I become distressed when I think of negatives? No. I do not. However I do choose to move past them and focus on stuff I like, which is healthier for me in the long run.

Moving past:

And happy anniversary from me too, although coming from me it probably doesn't mean anything at all.

I'll take it. Cheers.

And my complaints have fallen on deaf ears for 8 - almost 9 - years in a row. All of my efforts to get people to see any flaws in the way people behave and treat others in this community have done nothing. All I get is people who falsely accuse me of wanting to turn GTP into an echo chamber. Do you see why I'm frustrated now?

What, you mean comments like this, from the front page a few weeks back?

"Protip: don’t scroll past this comment if you don’t want your sanity brutally ripped away from you.
You’ve been warned."

I'm not sure how or why you think that's some sort of constructive comment to improve the community. It's yet more of the same: passive-aggressive sniping aimed at those that don't share the same view.

What else do you expect me to do when you get me into a situation like this? Just stop replying? Surely that would be even more childish?

Childish would be posting on another member's profile, after months of no interaction, simply to tell them you started ignoring them.

For the last time, I beg you to understand that I'm not complaining about people complaining, I'm complaining about people focusing their GTP activities WAY too much on something they don't like when their time on here could be better spent on something they actually enjoy.

It's like you didn't even bother to read what you were responding to.

You are not the arbiter of what is and isn't an acceptable amount of attention for people to put towards GT. You're yet again painting every person with the same brush. If people want to be upset by this news, they have absolutely every right to. It's not even 24 hours old.

This is a Gran Turismo Sport discussion thread. Expect people to, y'know, discuss the game. The good and the bad. This off-topic whingefest has gone on long enough.

@TeamCZRRacing you were free to express your opinion on the news as everyone else did, instead you decided to comment on what other people were saying and your skewed perception that it was unique to GTP/GT.

Why? Because you think people not happy with this news should not say so, and instead go and post something positive and happy?

This isn't your forum, it's not up to you to be concerned about what other people post.

Then that's enough. All I ask is that people get it.

Personally, it pisses me off to no end when I'm trying to have a conversation with someone and they just up and stop replying, so that's something that I'd never do to someone else.

No, I just don't understand why you keep coming back again and again when it's clear to both of us that GT isn't for you anymore.

Same mistakes time and time again. Yeah right.
Well, they are getting rid of Standards and focusing on quality over quantity this time. Personally, if it takes more time to get the game to a point they're comfortable with, so be it.

You can start by not initiating these arguments in the first place.
Sure, but a) people can choose to just ignore me, and b) like you, I'm calling it how I see it.

What if it was your favourite restaurant, you had many amazing meals their, it has inspired your love of good cuisine but in recent years mismanagement had seen it decline to such a level that it had become a bit of a joke, would you be wrong to keep pointing out it's flaws if you just longed for it to return to its previous glory?

Pretty much, yeah. The ability to accept certain things that you can't change and move on to other things which have begun to appeal more is part of how we grow... IMHO.

Just my two cents of course. I'm aware that complaining about complainers is the complainer's 'get out of Jail free' card.

@TeamCZRRacing you were free to express your opinion on the news as everyone else did,
Which I already have on the news article and in a status.

instead you decided to comment on what other people were saying and your skewed perception that it was unique to GTP/GT.
Which was a gross exaggeration, but I still don't see most devs getting this much hate over delays.

Why? Because you think people not happy with this news should not say so, and instead go and post something positive and happy?
Have you just flat-out ignored everything I've been saying these last few posts?

Of course not.

I think what many people maybe don't realise is that some of us who complain are life long GT fans. For me personally, GT1 was where this whole crazy adventure of racing games began. It's given me so much pleasure and fun over the years. And for many of us to see it where it is now is a real injustice against it's great name. To see the same mistakes being made over and over again makes people sad and angry. It's a bit like supporting a football team. No matter how bad they play you still support them but you'll let them know about it if the decisions the management and owners are making are detrimental to the club.

Ironic.

I'd like to reply to you in a conversation, but you'd ignore it.

Anyway, back on topic. This is the last time I'm going to let the community kick my teeth in like this.

Devs have received death threats over delays, people mocking PD for something that is factually true (constant delays) is nothing. It still just seems like you don't like to see negativity or criticism towards PD, which is fine, but you don't have to keep highlighting it with false claims or the childish remarks Slip highlighted.

Fire away. You know what they say about assuming.

I think the reality lies somewhere in the middle. Naturally, some people will respond differently from others.

I loved the Maple Leafs growing up. They were hopeless, and the stories of the 60's glory days always followed them around. Yet for a good chunk of my formative years, I blindly supported them. I knew they had been great before; surely, they could be great again.

Eventually, I stopped caring. When I talk with friends that are hockey fans, I'll joke about the Leafs dismal chances at the cup, or how they'll be able to work on their golf swing extra early this year. Some small part of me recognizes they never lived up to expectations, but I don't really go out of my way to complain about it. I'd also love to see them succeed.

For the majority of the folks expressing displeasure about this delay, I imagine it's a similar situation. They're not going out of their way to complain about it: it's understandably big news today. If they're repeating themselves daily for months on end, yeah, that'd be a little unhealthy.

I skimmed through this thread and I saw this. I don't know you (you seem like a good guy) but I recommend you put several members on ignore if what they are saying is bothering you that much.

Just a suggestion, friend.

I can understand that to a point, and I've stated my reasons for feeling that GTS will most probably be the point at which I leave the series after all this time (again, an original GT player), I've just not felt the need to bring it up every time there's GT news.

Simply for the sake of trying to get back on a more GTS orientated topic, I will mention it again... I'm not interested in an online-centric e-sports platform.

Back in the days of the original GT, it was more like an episode of Best Motoring, and just as fun.. it was about cars. Now it seems to be about the simulated racing series, it's about leagues, and competition, the desire for flags, tyre temps and safety cars, I'm just not interested in that - or at least not enough for it to define the experience for me. We've got people complaining about framerate drops destroying the immersion... (people who are sat in their house, with no G-forces, risk of physical injury, or financial loss involved -- immersion?). Back in the days of the first GT me and my mate Kev were blown away when we thought, "If you squint, it's like watching real cars on TV!".

... so for me, if the delays are to add a more expansive offline mode I might be happy enough to buy it... we'll see.

Let's not all gang up on the guy who said something mildly inaccurate eh?
The original post wasn't that bad, I've seen a feckload worse on here, plus he apologised about two pages ago!
Restrain yer selves a little, it's unbecoming.

let's all just have a  and chill

The good news is that the majority of others aren't either. Sure, there are those obnoxious ones, but that happens whether its a group praising or damning. What is happening here though, is a discussion of things being brought to light about the game. I don't think I've even seen anyone that is a usual to these kinds of discussions start or end their post in "That's it, I'm not getting GT!" or even anything similar to that really, beside those over-the-top naysayers/praisers(in the opposite spectrum).

...On a related note, I'm kinda relieved the game's been delayed somewhat.

Because, on November 18th, Metallica's dropping a new album and by my estimation, I'd need a good few weeks to totally rock out to my heart's content. I ain't got no time fo' anything else, quite frankly.

Oh and then there's new Alter Bridge album coming too, this time in October. Uhehehehehe.... :mischievous:

December?

I had a few questions I had to ask Sony/PD. Live chat is down, I forgot my twitter password and have no other way to contact them.
