No more beef please, don't want no gout.

Back on track,

I hope GTauto, tuning shop etc are features that will pop up as a result of this delay.

I mean I was pretty skeptical at first that the game will release so bare bones for a high price in November but at the same time PD needs to make that delay worthwhile.

In the meantime though, I'm into Assetto Corsa.

I had a few questions I had to ask Sony/PD. Live chat is down, I forgot my twitter password and have no other way to contact them.
Question 1. Does my preorder disappear?
Question 2. Do I get a refund?
Question 3. Will GT Sport be on PS4 Neo due to delays?

Basically GT Planet right now

Polyphony could do the same if they wanted. Hell, Sony had Evolution who were more than capable of making a more casual spinoff of the Gran Turismo formula. But no, let's fire them instead because they released a bad game and worked their arses off to make it amazing.

If Polyphony had put the same level of post-release support into GT6 that Evo put into Driveclub, the game would probably still be competitive with the current gen games. But instead GT6 is probably the worst of all the GT games.
Oh Imari you're right. :P

I wish Evolution Games was back. They were quite a great dev team.

To be perfectly honest, I saw this coming & I'm sure every else did. it's almost expected with this series.

Poor Kaz, Sony isn't going to be very happy with this announcement.

I have to say, it was not surprising at all Polyphony delayed Gran Turismo Sport. I hope this doesn't cause adverse effects for the series. There are many comparable racing games out right now. A long delay may cause some people to start flocking elsewhere. They may come back. I agree, Sony is probably getting annoyed with Polyphony.

Your initial post cast a wide net over any community/game and stated that with PD it's anger whilst with other games delayed it's understanding. Both statements are selective generalisitions, there is both for ANY game. There is no double standard as you claim. You tell me a game that was significantly delayed, i'll show you the majority being angry/annoyed about it. I'll also show you the people being understanding.

I don't know and you don't know. You're just making an assumption because it suits your generalisation and argument.

GTS to date has shown no weather. It was/is also planned to have less cars than Forza 5 and about the same amount of tracks. It plans to have no offline career, Forza 5 does. By your logic, GTS is also "basically a prologue".

Whether they wanted to or could do it is irrelevant, they didn't. T10 did, three years ago.

Forza6 was a proper game with decent tracks, night racing and weather and obviously more cars. That took them 4years. GTS I am sure with have weather, night racing, gravel, snow stage as well for rally, more variety in tracks. Car count will be less but otherwise it will be comparable to Forza6 in same duration including VR implementation.

If you're going to base your argument on lies and what you think a future game will contain to suit your argument then you have no leg to stand on. You are so biased toward GT it's unreal.

I always get a little disillusioned when people compare Forza to GT, but then I guess Microsoft's original aim was to provide exactly this type of GT experience for their console platform, thinking they were missing such a reliable seller in such an obvious genre. They've gone about it a little too mechanically, for my liking, but they've certainly achieved their aim now. Credit to them for that. They've ticked all the boxes, made a great game. (Sega tried it too, and didn't have much success, remember).

PD's seeming slide into 'release it when you like' territory, an apparent Sony 1st party habit, does make it look a bit tardy in comparison, which, for people who don't buy all competing consoles in a generation, or who can't afford/don't want to simply be above it all and own a PC (the majority?) can be frustrating.

So, as much as the comparison seems tiresome, it is actually relevant in some significant ways.

And we're going to see a lot more of it: 2017 is shaping up to be a direct fight between Forza 7 (seven?!) and GTS.

Well, let's just say that I was exaggerating...

I said **** when I saw the news this morning because, like a lot of people here, I'm eager to play a GT game on PS4 in my own house. I hope that this delay stands for something, because if this game isn't polished, it will be a real let down for everybody.
I think the idea of having a driver on the cover isn't bad considering the focus of the game. It could be nice to squeeze a car on there too for clarity, but I could understand if that makes it too busy.

I think what they've got is pretty weak both in terms of the selection of the image and in how they've presented it though. Driver in helmet is a good start, but "hunched over clenching fists" is terrible. Is he excited? Frustrated? Angry?

For myself, I'd go for something with a trophy in it. The driver unfortunately probably needs to have his helmet on so he can be an everyman, but that's OK. Get that model they've got and get him doing something like this:

Get some GT branding on there instead of F1, and it's a clear expression of what the game is about. The joy of winning. The drive for excellence. The ability for you to put yourself in that position.

Even something simple like two drivers on opposite sides of a trophy, like this:

Something like that really emphasises the competition aspect. They could even make it a man and a woman, or an adult and a child if they really wanted to get interesting.

There's so many interesting designs that could be used that speak so much more about the game that Gran Turismo Sport is. Random monochrome driver tells you...motorsport game?
This is so true @Imari. I can't agree with you more.

I'm not sure it is. GTS can't hope to compete with the car and track list that FM7 will have by then. In most other departments it's swings and roundabouts, except that Forza also has an improved version of the traditional Gran Turismo upgrade and tuning system.

GTS has VGTs and an FIA sticker. Completely devoid of emotion, I don't see why a rational consumer who wants a traditional GT-type game would go anywhere near GTS. GTS as it is described now is competing with pCARS and AC, not Forza. Forza Motorsport is in a class of one. There is no other modern game like it, and the closest competitor is probably Forza Horizon.

This is the big thing for me. I'm a forgiving kind of guy, christ I've bought every GT that's ever been released so I must be able to forgive right? However, this time there is a line in the sand. I can accept one more delay if it means GT Sport is all it should be. If it isn't however then I don't think I'll be giving PD another chance.
