Why is it that people neg on the slower heavier cars when they can just, you know, not drive them?

Don't like em, you can always go back to your (IMO) less interesting super fast sports cars.

Small cars like the Honda Jazz, Renault Clio, Toyota Corolla, Citroen C4 and heck, even the Toyota Vitz/Yaris should very much be included in a GT game - everyday vehicles have been in previous games and it adds variety that no other game can offer. So many games include sporty cars with over 200 HP and some fancy badge without really considering the cars that real people drive. I think that connection is critical in a video game.

Absolutely!
Gran Turismo may head to new roads but, good to see, won't lose its essence.

Dont understand why people keep claiming that hot hatches or small utility agile cars are fun. Nobody have said the opposite.

Explain me the fun of driving in a circuit cars like volkswagen sharan, toyota prius, Honda crv, Ford Cmax, Citroen C4 Picaso...

You never heard of "Track Day"?. Take your own car to a nearby or local race track and push your own Daily car to the limit, that's quite fun actually.. If you have a driver licence, and you have driven a real road car like myself you know what I mean. That's what is so great about GT, for me personal!.
Though I like true racing in GT, I find all the road cars as much fun:)

People can drive cars like these and appreciate them.

Driving something heavy... Even if the car may be low-powered, they still can be nice to drive. I don't understand as to why it would be such a criminal thing to add regular vehicles in a racing game.

Hmm... that thing with pitting to change time is interesting. Would work very well for endurance racing.

BTW Any info on Shuffle Races? That was the best thing to do in GT5.

Once again, he can't do what he wants to do(change ToD/dynamic weather), because of a limiting factor.

Why can't they do time change in these recent builds? Just to showcase 6am-6pm. it's like the ToD option when using course maker. Yet, he wants to put in time change at a pit stop? I just don't get it. Sacrificing that for graphics. Sacrificing game play, game immersion, for vanity. So to speak.

"Linear time changes we won't be doing again," Yamauchi says bluntly when asked about the feature. "We do give a selection of being able to choose times, and we're considering a system when you pit in with the car the time of day might change again."

Source

....:odd:

Uhm, surely, he forgot to add that what he meant was there wouldn't be time changes in GT:S.

...

......

I mean, surely, it has to be. Otherwise, he's painting himself into a mighty uncomfortable corner there.

This is a stupid excuse, simply look at Forza Horizon 3 , it looks beautiful on the X1 , and it's an open world racing game with dynamic time - weather . I don't think it's so impossible to do this on a race track ( which is obviously less bigger than an overworld) with 22 cars ( FH3 has also traffic ) .
Just think about it , GT5 added this feature and GT6 implements it on more tracks, and the only thing I want to see on new GT is this feature on all the tracks without any limitation .

And also, there's one feature that I like a lot on GT5 Prologue : shadows. It looks better than the full GT5 and GT6 , I don't like those "puffy" shadows.

FH3 runs at 30fps, though. That's why it's so beautiful. You're better off comparing GTS to FM6, which also had to sacrifice dynamic weather and TOD to get a solid 60fps.

As has been said hundreds of times PS4 is more than capable of running dynamic time and weather at locked 60fps. The limiting factor is Kaz and his desires to add as much visual eye candy as possible. Just look at all this focus on HDR, new cameras for lighting, focus on the scapes mode during presentations, talk about future technologies in the visual department.

The focus is all on the visuals. Does someone want to remind him he's supposed to be making a focused racing title with FIA championships? He rather seems to have forgotten.

I'm glad PD are keeping the rest of the tracks/cars secret.

I wish to see them when I play the game, like the old days.

I rather doubt it's through choice, just that the rest isn't in a state to be shown off. Half of the stuff they have shown off wasn't even really ready. I'm sure we'll see much more content when it picks up on promo again, probably next year.

I guess day-night cicle is a visual thing , I am correct? Ok , it could be a variable thing for ambience temperature, tires consume , etc. but mostly for GT it's a visual thing.
It looks cool on GT5 and it's even better on GT6 , imagine how it could be on GT Sport.

Not sure I want to sacrifice the game looking like PCARS rather than Driveclub for dynamic weather to be honest.

Then why suggest these changes could potentially be implemented during pitting?

...I dunno. Maybe he had one too many cups of sake? Maybe something was lost in translation? Maybe he got his notes mixed up during the interview? Who knows.

All I'm saying is, something's not quite right with those quotes by Kaz. He can't be saying "no time changes during a race on future GT games". So, logically, it must only apply to GT:S, which we've come to understand that there wouldn't be any.

On the other hand, maybe he means what the article's implying...

I strongly disagree with this. Maybe one or two as a novelty, but I have no real interest in ever driving a Prius or anything like one.

I think every one of those cars that was posted in that quote would fit perfectly, especially in a lower tier racing category in the game. It would be nice to have something like that, rather than an over abundance of really fast cars.

As for GTS, from what we've seen so far, it seems to be lacking in that department which is weird since they are bringing in low powered cars in the first place. It would only help that group.

Maybe you, but there are others who wouldn't mind driving hybrid cars or race them in a series.

Surely, as someone who's thrown a lot of dubious modifications at a car that isn't an ideal platform for tracking, you appreciate the David vs. Goliath factor that those "novelty" cars bring. Just about any car can be fun to drive. 👍

Though there is certainly an argument to be made that, in light of GT Sport's competitive slant and limited roster of cars, only groups of similarly-performing cars should be included to ensure classes aren't lop-sided. If Kei or sub-compacts aren't really included (we've seen the Mito and... that's about it), it may not be possible to put them in, at least at launch.

You don't have to though. GTSport has a big enough budget that you could have multiple levels of settings to accomodate dynamic time and weather. Tiny little sims produced by relatively tiny little teams provide a range of settings and levels of detail to accomodate various ages and configurations of hardware. There's no reason why PD can't do the same except it would be having a dynamic mode that reduces car poly's and environmental detail to maintain framerates. IMO it's one of the real downsides of much of console gaming, the lack of options provided to the user to customize their personal experience and to customize the game overall.
