Completely disagree. A cockpit view can be good even without such options.
It can, but only for a certain percent of people.

One thing I've learned from sim'ing on PC is that your FoV is a really big factor in not just the immersiveness, but also your ability to drive well.

For people who play GT on their living room TV's with a gamepad on their couch, having a larger FoV is ideal. But if you're up close to the screen, like at a desk, a large FoV isn't so good. Improves sense of speed, but makes judging braking and all that quite hard to do.

To be honest i'm looking forward to seeing people's scapes, photo mode pics and replays of GTS, just because the graphics are so pretty.

But i wouldn't go near it with a stick to actually play it myself, as it will probably be too big of a downgrade from what i've become accustomed to so far with other racing games.

Hence I said "can." I myself find it easy to adapt to the cars interiors, but of course, that's probably just me and not you.
Other games, particularly sims, even those with tiny, tiny budgets, don't require you to adapt to the game, they provide the tools for you to adapt the game to you. GT is far, far behind in this regard. I'd even go so far as to say that a properly adjustable cockpit view is an absolute must for any game to call itself a proper racing simulator.

To be honest, I don't see how seat adjustment and whatnot alone would make a game qualified to be a "proper racing simulator".

Test Drive Unlimited has adjustable interior views, but does that make the game a proper racing sim? I don't think so.

The thing is that FOV editing isn't an option, it's necessary.

Some people have different preferences in sim racing, and if they cannot edit the view to how they want, it won't be as enjoyable and they can't process information as well as they could if they were to edit the view. It's a huge game changer.

I would agree about editing the FOV and seating position. It takes a while to fiddle around as the positioning is a little different from each cockpit as well as how close you sit from the TV, but it is a game changer. Plus I dislike seeing too much of the wheel and the driver's hands and arms, since GT still hasn't synced the animations of a full 900 degree lock. Or maybe I am getting super picky and want the most immersion in a GT game

A message to PD:
Add Le Man's, Spa-Francochamps, Silverstone, Nurburgring GP and 24 hr circuit, Fuji, Suzuka, Motegi, Autopoils, add dynamic time, weather.
Add the classic nostalgia tracks from the PS2 Era (complex string, SSR11,) add some more orginals like Tokyo R246, Grand Valley Speedway mid filed and more. I would like to see more modern LMP'S like the Audi'S from 2012 to 2016 so 4 new audi'S add the ts040 and the ts040 and add the Nissan GTR LM for fun. ;)
That's a hefty request.

Just wondering if that then makes AC on console not a proper racing simulator? It has FOV only as a 50-60 degree slider, no seat movement at all as far as I know.

The exclusion of full FOV adjustability is not a deal breaker for me personally on any game, but I can certainly see the advantages after dabbling with it on other games and would welcome these kind of adjustments to GT Sport.

I don't think anyone said that seat adjustment alone makes a game a proper simulator. If someone did, you could pose the question to them instead.

I'd have to say no then, as I think proper FOV adjustment is a must in any true simulator.

I don't want all those similar looking LMP1 cars. They're a pain to drive too. I'd rather get the different LMP2 chassis. Weight and power is the same for all of them so it's just your stylistic preferences at play.

I can see you getting PS4 Fanatec high-end steering wheel when out to go with your pedals and then end up getting PS4 for GT SPORT to play Senna events.

Still plenty of time for them to bring game up a few more levels, imagine if they do the same as they did for graphics for AI and sound in time for release. ;)

PC master race likes options.

If there aren't options, they freak out.
I never heard such complain on Forza. Only GT.

There are indeed quite lot things wrong with GT franchise. But selective negative bias can blind.

Thanks for that! 👍

I'm throwing my stick aside and getting as pervily close to it as possible, but I guess that's because I'm an idiot serf.

In Forza, many complain that you seem to drive from the backseats.
By the way, optimisation is the key. They set the camera and let you zoom in. No zoom out to prevent any fps drops.

Woah... So you're a member of the sim racing elite?! It's just a game, not the plague. Try it at a shop, if you don't like it : case closed.

I heard it before and in addition Forza offers a proper bonnet/hood cam on every car and a perfect chase cam. The positions in the cockpits in Forza is sometimes very akward.
As much I love GT when I used to go back to GT6 from Forza I was extremely disturbed by the camera views in GT.

Reason?
Narrow FOV = sense of speed killer in basicially all views except Cockpit.
Sitting on the roof of cars.
Stiff Toy car chase cam with even narrower FOV where you cant rotate the camera.

I found some of my pics from the old times in GT5 where you can adjust your FOV in the secret menu.
No matter how wide I set the FOV the framerate has been never effected.

I don't think i'll spend a 1000 bucks on a console and compatible wheel setup i don't need, just for a game that has Senna on the box. :)

I've heard the; 'there's still time they could turn it all around before release', argument many times before. PD didn't bother with it in either GT5 nor 6, so i guess it will be the same again for GTS. Pretty graphics galore and all the rest of their features basically stuck in the year 1999.

 Doesn't it say 'the real driving simulator' on the cover?

I guess there are so far no news about what kind of PS4 bundles could be released with GTS?
Would love to see a bundle including the PS4 Pro, PSVR and GTS. But I think that would be too expensive :indiff:

Oh, memories. I did the same thing a few years back [1] [2]. While I did go to the ''extremes'' with the FoV settings, it gave me a sense of speed that was sorely lacking before. Best hidden feature in GT5. There was no difference in framerate whatsoever and made the game far more enjoybale.

While PD seems to have improved the FoV in cockpit view in GT:S, I'm guessing we still won't see it being an option anytime soon.

Yeah it was awesome and the extreme FOV when you sat right in front of your TV gave you a proper sense of speed and fun! just when you were far away from the TV you felt like hyper Speed haha :D

none the less super fun and enjoyable to be able to customize your experience :)

I disagree... Gt is not the best simulator, but there are some features like online better on GT than in other games. (No private lobbies in AC for PS4  )

Wheel can be used on other games too, might be also direct drive. Surely will be tempting to go along with your pedals.

The physics, sound and AI are going in right direction on a platform that has more scope for improvements. Doesn't seem like a game stuck in the year 1999, focus is eSports. You'll know about it anyway if improved or not by videos and reviews once it releases and also if you get opportunity to try it out.

Yes, we're all exactly the same. All of us. Every one.

Nothing like a visual demonstration to drive the point home:tup:. The "secret menu" was a bit of a revelation and allowed for many options in GT that were part of the included game code but just were not activated by PD for some reason. It was that ability to adjust the FOV that first turned me on to cockpit view driving after running with hood cam since day 1. The differences are dramatic enough that I made a thread about F.O.V. in the Project Cars Forum last year that included several custom pics and a video from EmptyBox.

GT does have the best online interface, no doubt about that. It's the connection and stability issues that hold it back.

It's been going in the right direction for years, unfortunately, outside of graphics and a couple of things unrelated to gameplay, we never seem to get there. eSports, at it's heart, is just another way to race. It doesn't make any difference to the people who want to race offline, which, as far as I can tell, is the vast majority of the fanbase.

I'd rather accept no private lobbies on AC than totally unstable P2P online in GT.
That's also a worthy argument :D

Physics yes (as reported by people who played it), but it remains to be seen if the cars are also realistically replicated as that has been a problem with GT so far (MR's for example if i remember right). Sounds are a bit better compared to before as that couldn't get much worse, but as of now it's still lacking a lot compared to today's standards. Like I said they sound pretty much as the same samples, but made a bit bassier overall. The 1999 quote refers to offline gameplay, race structure, sounds, AI, damage model and crash physics. For the E sports we'll have to see how their ranking and penalty system works and if online is stable at least, that will be essential.

So you can see, i love the way it looks but that is pretty much where my admiration for GTS stops.

I would expect a bundle to consist of a "GT Sport Edition" PS4 Pro and maybe a code for in-game credits or something.

This has yet to be confirmed. I believe it was @Johnnypenso who said (and I agree) most likely the only Senna content is in the musem feature. Maybe we get some actual Senna content later, but I doubt it. What use will those vehicles be to us if we don't get more "Senna related content"? It kinda breaks the immersion to use the Senna McLaren against Gr1 cars
