Don't you think those 140 new cars means actually "new cars" on GT Sport (I mean first apperance on GTS)? As a GT fan, I think the only one reason why I love this game is the number of car list. I don't speculated anything, just share what I thought. Traditional GT games always have a huge car list.

No. 140 is, currently, the absolute total.

Each vehicle has been recreated in remarkable detail, from the internal structure of the headlights to the gaps between the body panels and the stitching of the seats. We have strived to instil the passion of the car designers themselves who brought these cars to life from the sketch pad.

The full lineup consists of 140 vehicles, including original cars.

Probably not.

Not really. GT1 and GT3 were small, but bigger than GTS. GT2 and GT4 were huge. GT5 and GT6 were either small or huge depending on your opinion of the standard cars. They didn't actually incorporate that many newly modelled cars, if we're looking at it that was.

Hey guys, big GT fan since the first, but haven't kept up with news on GT Sport. will it be more like "gran turismo prologue" than a full fledged gran turismo 7? if so, I might have to skip it and wait for 7

It will be less like a Gran Turismo and probably more like iRacing without the subscription. Relatively few cars organised into classes with a heavy, heavy focus on online. We haven't seen much offline play outside of training and arcade mode yet.

If you want something that is like GT1 through 6 but on PS4, this isn't it. The closest we have this generation is FM6. It's possible that Forza Motorsport will be the only traditional Gran Turismo-type game we get this generation, at the rate Polyphony is going. They're probably at least a few month shy of releasing GTS, and another three years after that we'll be pushing up against the release of PS5. I doubt Polyphony/Sony want to do the GT6 release-on-old-hardware thing again.

Right, since there is nothing worth discussing, time to speculate on GTSport's release, now looks like God of war is likely to hit this year so since it's probably the big holiday game, I'm guessing Sony wouldn't want GTSport and GOW releasing close to each other so this could see GTSport releasing around the summer rather than the holidays (which I still think is most likely) granted this is all speculation but it could have merit.

More than GOW, they should release it before FM7. Even if the cars or tracks assets look "10%" better in Gtsport, it can't justify a small car list, little diversity, almost no car modification...
In fact, FM7 will show all the missing things in Gtsport. I have a bad feeling for GTsport, it will look gorgeous for sure but that's not enough.

My guess is that GTS will look rather silly going up against Forza 7 content wise, especially if the latter is on Scorpio, unless Turn 10 pull a Forza 5 (we have to make all new content) that is.

Anyway, January sale on PSN. Project Cars Game of the Year Edition is £15.99 and Assetto Corsa £19.99 with Season Pass at £11.99. If you have a force feedback wheel and you don't own one or both of these. Now is your chance. Neither is perfect of course, nor is Assetto Corsa that polished either but both are very good at what they do. That's if the GT blinkers allow of course. Although I'll repeat this. "If you have a Force Feedback Wheel" I have no opinion about pad use.

It's new GT on new PlayStation and it looks great - it'll sell. Forza's quality is hardly relevant and applies to people that would sells their PS4s and get an Xbox or get a 2nd console just to play Forza instead of GTS.

Then we have aficionados with all the consoles on the market and those folks most likely did that to NOT skip major releases - so at least part of those people will get both games anyway. I know I would.

So given all that to me it seems like Forza's quality doesn't really matter that much for GTS sales. (and vice versa)

What could (and probably will) impact the sales are multi platform games like Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally and PCars.

Well that's good, no one really mentioned that though. It was never compared in sales, but rather what lies within.

Well to be honest, should it even be compared in that way to FM anymore? I think a fair comparison now would be against games like Pcars and AC. My reason being that GTS is going for more of a restrictive feel, where as FM is more of an open range and doesn't seem to have such a serious focus in comparison. That's why GTS would seem "lacking" in my opinion.

Eh, as long as they're not within a week or two I don't think it will matter all that much, they're different games. One could be October, one December.

@Samus If this was Microsoft I'd say yes, but Sony don't do that, they like to have their games breath alone.

October-December is possible though I agree

:odd: You seem to assume that everyone who plays games right now has a PS4. Forza is very much relevant because it's on the other 2 major platforms and already offers taglines like e-sports and 4K HDR today. Forza 7 will offer all that on PC and console and a full GT-style single player.

Cool, thanks for the info. reminds me a bit of capcom and street fighter 5 releasing without an arcade mode and focusing on online and esports.

I think I might skip this one and check out The Crew or something a little different

You can interpret this is many different ways, mate. However, I assume you mean this in a bad way, right?
Just saying a shame GTS is nothing like the groundbreaking game GT1 is.

Since you're asking. I'll ask, What is groundbreaking about GTS?
If PD crossed GTA V avatar interactions with Gran Turismo online play, that's groundbreaking.

GTS is nothing like GT1. People are peering in(we'll see if it reaches 10mil purchases when it's all done). Players are curious. Videos and pics look interesting. The world has changed and made vehicles accessible on just about every continent.

Anyone can race a GT3 car anywhere. What is going to make GTS the one that breaks the mould?

Personally what keeps attracting me is the feel. I don't mean physics either. Every Gran Turismo game has a certain feel to it, where you could see gameplay and go, "oh yeah, thats Gran Turismo, no doubt."

Pairing that with the little, often unnoticed things PD does to the game, it always draws me in.

Ok so I'm not going through 866 pages to see if this has been posted! Has there been any comment on qualifying in GT Sport? Given the focus on actual racing I'd assume it's going to be included.

Here's how I would answer that, going by my observations :sly:.

Consider that GTS is basically broken down into 4 game modes.
Arcade, Campaign, Online lobby, and Sport modes.

Arcade mode: As perhaps is expected, no qualifying.
Everything I've seen is events with the competitor starting in 12th position, in a grid of 20.

Campaign mode: Everything I know suggests no racing (as such) here, only challenges.

Online lobbies: I anticipate a similar set-up as per previous GT games.
Therefore qualy is available should the host deem it as such, or not.

Sport mode: Qualy has been shown working here, so it seems a given, and possibly/probably mandatory.

It should be noted that we have only seen video footage of Arcade and Sport modes, so the others are my best guess.
