Seriously, you just gotta laugh your arse off! Took them over three years to design 140 HD cars. A game which is focused on online play solely and which has no weather effects. Is that right?

You can have weather. Just not the dynamic kind. All for frame rate reasons. For PVR. Which doesn't allow playing of the whole game.... It's an experience.... being a GT fan.

Agreed.
We've seen tracks run at different times of day, but it's been said it will be static once selected.
Still waiting to see rain though.
Only wet weather tyres available in menu selections at this stage.

I'm not so convinced on the PSVR reasoning though.
I'm no software designer, so I can only go on how I picture it.
But with VR being a limited mode, wouldn't you just restrict variable weather in that mode?

I can buy into the belief of frame rate playing a part across the game in general regarding variable weather, but purely down to VR mode?
I'm not so sure there.

I initially discounted VR as a gimmick. After getting pretty deep into Assetto Corsa and seeing just how many people use it regularly there on PC.. and how well it works.. PD could be omitting a major +1 for the sim fans.

Well.... It didn't bothered them on PS3 when it rained and started to get dark and the frame rate wasn't stable. I can't see any other reason for it now.

Pro Cars isn't 60 fps with dynamic events and Assetto Corsa isn't 60 fps without dynamic effects either. *

* Unless you have a PS4 Pro and boost mode in not yet released firmware update.

A second microphone so that you can microphone while you microphone?

Dual microphoning is an essential quality of commentators and presenters, and it takes many an hour to get the skill absolutely right. As you can tell by some personalities, they have struggled to tell the difference between a pie and a microphone. Critical mistake.

People are raving about Dirty Rally VR (PSVR) on ps4 - even on non-pro consoles. I know that GT games use a lot more resources but they have to be thinking more about it now. Codemasters impressed many people with their implementation of VR on a console.

Looks like GDC is offering mostly the same - http://www.usgamer.net/articles/gran-turismo-sport-looks-utterly-gorgeous-on-ps4-pro
There's been nary a peep about the game so far this year – so it was to my great surprise (and indeed delight) to discover that there's a brand new demo of the game here at GDC this week.
From the way that light glistens off the cars’ paintwork through the sun bouncing off the asphalt to the movement of the shadows around the beautifully rendered interior of the car as it races around the track, the game looks incredibly lifelike – and it was absolutely silky, surely-that’s-60-FPS-smooth. It’s a definite step up from what I saw at E3 last year. And that's when I noticed a small sign saying that the game was running on PS4 Pro.
Slipping behind the wheel of the game, I was presented with a choice of six tracks: Brands Hatch GP and Indy, Willow Springs, a Tokyo street circuit, the full Nurburgring Nordschleife course, and a dirt track.

Hard to say if this is a newer build than PSX 2016 or not, but it sounds like the content is all the same either way.

The author had some nice things to say about the handling model on the dirt course though:
As I slowly began to get to grips with the racing proper, I started to really appreciate the depth and detail of the handling model. The track was incredibly bumpy, and I could really feel the suspension working to keep the Impreza planted. Driving under these conditions just felt incredibly realistic and involving, and it’s going to take a lot of practice to really learn the ropes.

Maybe someday we will all have a chance to have a go

Since GDC is likely to be firing blanks, if this other event that some of the GT Academy guys are supposedly at that's been teased here doesn't show any new stuff either then I honestly don't know what to even say any more.

Here's my theory : as long as the release date is not set or close enough, they won't show any new "features". IMO, it's clear that Poly plays its cards close to its chest. They have more assets ready but probably don't want to give ideas for the other contestants. (Rightly or wrongly)

This game should run a solid 60FPS on the standard ps4.. even if it is not rendered at full 1080p and is an upscale trick like they did with GT6 on ps3..

In another thread, I was wondering when they showed the game running on a standard PS4 last time as it seems like ages ago now but none seems to know.

At this point, I expect subpar performance in comparison to the PS4 Pro. There's no way this is going to run at a locked 60FPS on the OG PS4.

Yeah.. I do not expect it to run the same as ps4 pro (assume 60FPS full 1080p) on original ps4 either. I am just saying that it should run 60FPS. Considering the development time and what they achieved on the ps3, it should run at 1280x1080 or 1440x1080 upscaled to 1920x1080 .. or what ever is needed to hit a solid 60fps.

Considering how other well optimized titles (racing games included) run on the original ps4.. PD should be able to hit that 60FPS solid mark with the use of upscaling. What they actually do with GTS for release not many people know except them and a tight circle. The thing with "should" and "expect" with Kaz and PD are well.. not often a reality.

If I had to bet on it.. I would say that it will be very similar to GT6 in terms of sounds, physics, camera views, controls, FFB, and options. The only obvious improvement will be the graphics and that is a given based on the ps4 hardware over the ps3 hardware.

Maybe they have more assets ready. Maybe they don't. Who knows.

As far as giving ideas to other devs, I don't think there's much danger of that. There's nothing in the game that they've mentioned so far that's even unique apart from Scapes. I can't imagine what they'd possibly be holding back for fear of premature disclosure.

GT Sport will run 1080p, 60fps on PS4 vanilla, and 4K - checkerboard -, 60fps on PS4 Pro.

HDR will be compatible on both.

How sure are you of this?
