I think I'm going to put this note from official website just for a reminder :

BETA begins to increase in size, those who have signed up within the PlayStation Europe forum or received a direct e-mail will be selected to participate in Phase 2 of the closed BETA. Spaces will be limited so, if you don’t get into Phase 2, make sure you stay tuned for future BETA activities in the run-up to launch!

Also, my guess Phase 3 could between Asia or Australia, if there any.

Tomorrow morning: "GT Sport Closed Beta delayed"

sure

Stress testing servers can be done much more efficiently than getting a bunch of users to try it out, and I'd be surprised if they're moving from P2P to dedicated hosted servers.

My 2c regarding this beta:

- Every time PD have publicly displayed anything, they've had a bunch of negative criticism. So obviously, what they think is good is far removed from what their user base / general public thinks is good. I hope this beta is them really wanting to get feedback for improvement.
- However, given their lack of listening to fans in the past, I'm more of the opinion that this beta is just an attempt to stop waning interest in GTS. Are they really going to react to beta feedback now?
- I'm head of testing for a large NZ company, so I know that a beta means more delays, usually means 'we're not sure, so let's see what the public think of what we've got so far', and probably means there is quite a bit of work still to be done.

It's still not enough to get me to go buy a PS4.

At least, something new? Like new cars, tracks? We'll make it : more than a year with Brands Hatch and the Ring. Can we expect a new trailer/screenshots before E3?
Probably new cars/tracks for beta, since all stages will be going for quite a long time. But I wouldn't count on that.

Damn not having a PS4 , much admit, caught me off guard, genuinely didn't expect a beta to actually come, so it's good to see that Kaz has finally released one. Would like to think it's being done for beneficial reasons to gather feedback.

Just a shame I won't be able to play it, and I won't be getting a PS4 in time for the beta for a no. of reasons.
But I'm not going to sweat too much, as I'll be just as happy to wait for the final product, and get a PS4 before the final game.

PD: "Let's not tell the fans that are waiting for this game to come out anything about the Beta. Instead we can bring it as "big news", and make the fans happy with nothing."
In my opinion, it already took this long to produce the game, quality has to be guaranteed. No hype should therefore be created around something PD has to guarantee anyway.
A release date, or the Porsche license, that would be news that fans would actually like to hear.
Unless, there will not be any other "news" announcement, I am rather dissapointed. What did we get after today?

When did Kaz start listing to feedback

You are opposite of me. I sold my PS3 and bought a PS4 in late 2015 when they first announced a beta was coming 'early 2016'. Now I regret it as I have not been able to play GT6 for 1.5 years, and now the PS4 Pro is a thing, so I am going to be missing out on the full GT Sport experience as well. I wonder how they decide who to invite to the closed beta? I hope pre-order holders are invited.

I think you made the right decision to wait to get a PS4 until the game is out. Who knows, there may be a PS4 Pro + GT Sport bundle.

I'm purely being theoretical here, hence why I said "I would like the think...", and you never know, still time for Kaz to change eh?, I'm just very optimistic ok :D

Well I must admit I very nearly got a PS4 last year in advance, but didn't just to wait for the price to drop some more post-Christmas. And, exactly as you say, there could be a PS4/PS4 Pro GTSport bundle which I would snap up.

However, not too fussed over the Pro, don't think there will be a huge difference between GTS on the standard PS4 and the pro. Plus I don't think I get that full Pro experience without a top market TV, along with the price difference over the standard. But if come the time, I see a good deal, things may change so we'll see.

TBH, was kind of calling out the beta yesterday after college, I've had like 3 options for the "big news" in my mind:

  1. Porsche
  2. Release date
  3. (meanwhile college, by hearing @Dionisiy's getting back his ps4 for reusage) Free demo or something finally playable.
Be happy all of you because you will finally get to play this!! :D. I can't badly since I don't have a PS4 yet, so I will not make the same mistake as NFS 2015, but at least the new videos will give me some footage for a music video I'm this close to end, but didn't have enough footage, and now have reasons to return working big time to save money to join the small PS4 pro latiamerican group (have family in the US, so I'm covered) :D

Since its an closed beta why limit it to US only. Not to mention that the biggest customer base is on a different continent...

So if the beta means the possibility of a GTS release soon..

GT5 was released Nov 2010 - 4 years after ps3 launched Nov 2006 - then GT6 was released a month after ps4 was launched in 2013..

PS4 launched in Nov 2013

GTS possible release in 2017 (4 years later right on PD schedule)

GT possible release 2020 - so ps5 in 2020 confirmed.

Obviously we won't know for sure what GT Sport will allow on the PS4 Pro, but I would actually argue you likely get 'more' out of the PS4 Pro without a top market 4k tv. I am sure 4K would look great, but a 1080p tv likely looks better, as the PS4 Pro allows developers to draw better textures when running at 1080p instead of checkerboard 4k. Considering Sony is finally producing 1080p HDR tv sets this year, I would be interested to see how it looks in 1080p HDR with the PS4 Pro. Considering all of the screens shared so far are 1080p it goes to reason that these might be shots from a PS4 Pro running at 1080p.

I just read a rumor suggesting the "PS5" will be shooting for end of 2018, which makes sense to me. If XBox "Scorpio" comes out this year and Sony does not respond within a year they will lose out on sales all through 2018 and 2019, unless they can significantly undercut the price of Scorpio.

I think they filled some of that gap with ps4 pro.. I was just making a really lame joke though.

I am excited to see what PD does with both the ps4 and ps4 pro... not worth talking about ps5 with PD as that will be released in 2018 or 2020 then we have to wait 4 years to see a GT game for it anyways

Disappointed we are being spoon fed something as a big reveal which was promised and then scrapped already.

5 hours ago the big reveal was posted on their instagram account, its received 335 likes, says it all.
