Gotta love Tokyo, right? I don't think I will be doing any more racing there.
Ha, I never did a one. Mostly because I didn't get a chance, but also because I knew I'd take an SR hit. What I love most about that video is the official Playstation lead in/out.
I don't think the SR is related to the DR as I understand it. DR is how fast your race/lap times are. SR is how clean of a driver you are. Those that are >C get more accurate/realistic races where you can't just ghost through someone after wall riding to keep momentum. It really waters down the GT brand. But maybe getting into C class isn't that hard? I've only done maybe 10-12 races so far.
Right now, the top guys are all B's and C's. Eventually they'll get to S/A and B, then C will be made up mostly of average to good drivers who race a decent amount. There is more opportunity for crossover right now I think (D's and E's with fast qualifying times competing up with C's) while the number of total players is low.
I would expect that any server with a high SR requirement has no ghosting regardless of driver rating. Remains to be seen if PD will configure such servers, or always couple low DR with low SR requirement.
Has anyone been able to confirm whether leaving a race due to quitting or disconnect has any impact on SR or DR? I know DR would be impossible to tell unless you got demoted to a lower rank by quitting or something. I'd like it if clicking on the DR or SR in your profile gave you a rundown of your last 10 events and how they affected your score.
Well, they'll probably have those, but I don't think that's it. We'll also probably see a Cayman Gr4 Race Car along with a 911 GT3 Cup for the Gr.3 class aswell. I've seen more GT3 cars revealed in the recent months such as the AMG GT3, BMW M6 GT3, and the Honda NSX Gr.3. So, I don't think it's unbelievable to expect a GT3 class car from Porsche.
I'm very happy for Porsche to finally be in GT. There was a legitimate reason they weren't in the game before, but it's no longer the case so I did expect it. PD is on time here if anything. My excitement is tempered quite a bit though by how this game works. There are a few different reasons.
1. I get no sim value from GT Sport. Feels like an FR car is an FR car, an MR car is an MR car, etc. The feelings and sounds do little to differentiate a 4C Gr.3 from an RS 01 Gr.3 from a McLaren 650S Gr.3 or whatever. Mustang, SLS, Corvette? I'd never know, I use bumper cam. The different makes/models might as well be different liveries. Even the tuning settings seem to be same across the board for a class of car - how could that be? And if a car had any sort of character to begin with, you'll have tuned it completely away in the quest for speed. So what's it matter what the car is called, or what it looks like? The signature tail-heavy, oversteery nature of the 911 will be neutralized in a flash by tuning.
2. Because of this, I feel no reason to drive around just for the sake of driving. All that will matter is whether the car is competitive. And to use it for cool pictures.
I think there is less uniqueness between cars in GTS than there was in GT6, to be honest. Why would that be? I think it comes back to the purpose of GT Sport. They're doing everything they can to facilitate close competition. Big differences in the way cars work and drive could lead to physics or tuning exploits, or at least PD having to manually adjust BoP more often.
