GTS looks better by quite a bit margin and even in E3 video the fps are better in comparision. It is not fps issue they could fix it via patches after release too. GTS now will be released after 1year I guess. Usually Nov-Dec is the time they release the game so this was obviously a tough decision.

F1 2016 was also released in same month. I was pretty sure AC was going to get buried this November. But now if they can fix some issues via patches the game will have more users and I might also buy this game next year.

Sure, AC has issues, but none to the point that it's unplayable. GTS is unplayable. You can compare all you want, but in the end people are playing and enjoying AC right now and GTS is a piece of demo/vaporware. It's sad really, because GTS looked really promising in the demo's and from the feedback from the peeps that played it.

Isn't it the whole purpose of this thread is to compare both games. I'm not sure what sad about game getting delayed, it will come out around next year anyway.

The perfomance of AC on PS4 is not good at all. You know what? It's alright that PD delayed GTSport, so maybe they can improve the framerate and polish the game even more.

Here's GTsport fps for comparison.

Yeah, AC really isn't great when it comes to a frame rate. It is not very stable and can prove a bit of a hassle when you're dealing with a complex physics engine.

Ẁell having played both I can say that the GTS AI is better than the AC AI, and that's something I never thought I would say about GT AI in comparison to a competitor.
Rest assured, i'm pretty confident this will be sorted out quickly. We're on 1.8 on the PC and the AI is quite good. Besides the updated AI we have it's then just a matter of adjusting their pace on 'easy' as they are way too fast, which should be something fairly straightforward to fix.

And the pitting car bug.

That too. I recall the first months of PCARS in comparison, remember driving out of the pit @Zolder? :D
That scared the crap out of me.

On PC Kunos have always been good at patching their bugs/ flaws quickly, probably won't be long before PS4 is coming up.

I certainly hope so, as the physics and feedback make this a title i want to succeed.

That's what they said about 2017. Why not 2018? There's nothing stopping them getting to the end of next year and saying "you know what? Sorry chaps, it's gonna be another year".
The time gap between GT4 and GT5 was quite substantial and GT5 turned out as quite a nice game, better than GT6 and GT4 imo. That said I really dont know why Kaz doesn't want to make the FIA series game into GT7 with a full single player and all the usual 700+ cars.

Better than GT6 certainly, but that's not a huge achievement. I doubt you'll find many that disagree that it's the worst mainline game in the series.

You'll find a lot of people that disagree with you about it being better than GT4. In final patched state that's probably correct, but it was a horrendous buggy mess when it released. The fairest you could say for it was that it was wildly inconsistent, there were parts that were incredible and well beyond their time and parts that were significantly worse than a last gen game from 5 years prior.

I imagine he doesn't want to reach big again for the simple reason that he's aware of what happened with GT5 and GT6. I think it's safe to say that they're not the games he wanted them to be. He tried to scale his vision down to something more compact, which was smart. Unfortunately, it seems that even that is giving Polyphony trouble. They can't actually scale the game down any further without it being largely unsaleable at $60. It's already smaller than FM5, and people moaned like hell about that at launch.

To be fair, it's not the same budget... We expect much more from Poly, maybe not on simulation side but everything else like sounds, career, AI, collisions...
How can we compare a small studio with a first party studio like Poly and its 70 million copies. If one aspect outside of simulation is better in AC than in GTSport, there is a problem IMO.

Which makes it worse actually. Even with all those resources and money, they're still not able to beat other developers to market. GT used to be a system seller. Today people are selling their systems because there is no GT.

Codemasters, SMS, Kunos, Milestone, etc. etc. all have at least one (and some multiple) titles out. PD should be ashamed.

Its a good point and gets more interesting when you stop and think about how many they have put out this gen and across multiple platforms.

Codemasters: F1 2015, F1 2016 and DiRT Rally
SMS: Project Cars
Kunos: Assetto Corsa
Milestone: Seb Loeb Rally, Valentino Rossi and a bucket load of MotoGP and Bike titles.

Now some of them (OK mainly the MotoGP and bike stuff from Milestone) are not great, but you have in that lot at least four great sims released across multiple platforms by studios who did not have the same level of early access to the PS4 that PD certainly did.

It's also worth noting that the three best (though 'best' is a bit subjective) in your list had extensive public/semi-public early access periods, where the community helped to shape the title into what it eventually became. The biggest credit IMO must go to Codemasters, who got slammed for previous DiRT titles (and probably rightly so), but really managed to turn around for DiRT Rally. This shows it's not impossible for a company to do a 180.

A lot of those are PC ports though, to be fair.

(but yeah PD are slow haha)

This is true, and it's why they all were able to have a large amount of people play around with early builds and gather feedback. Is there even an early access thing on PS4 (or XB1)? I know EA, etc. have some multiplayer beta's, but that's about it I think?

That is true, but they still had to make the PC version first (however a lot of the Milestone stuff is PS4 first and then ported to XB1 and PC).

Many of these have managed to be developed on the lead platform and be migrated to two other platforms in less time that the PS4 has been around!

Nothing the same. However Sony does have a closed beta team that provides feedback on Alpha and Beta products and does result in changes being made (I'm part of it and have been since the PS3 - PD has never made use of it).

Then you have the use of public Beta's, which can be marketing exercises a lot, but as the recent Titanfall 2 one showed can also be used to put changes in place based on feedback gained.

No, playstation don't allow it, but they should! I saw that there is early-access on Android now, incidentally...

No, you're right, of course. But at least PD will be quicker than the Last Guardian devs*

*fingers crossed

Ashamed sounds a bit too strong^^ but yep I agree.
