This next race at Spa is going to be tough for me. My FP is currently 5 seconds off the top time in the Porsche Cayman.

RIP to anybody who decides to pit. That entry is just unnecessary :lol:
 
My season so far hasn’t been great. Didn’t get good results from the first two rounds I did at Road Atlanta and Nurburgring, only getting 117 and 93 points respectively. And my SR took a hit from the race at the latter.

I found myself doing all three slots in GT1 for Sardegna yesterday.

Slot 1 - Despite doing a couple of Race C’s, my SR was still not high enough to be with my usual group, so I placed in a lobby with mostly B/S drivers. Treated this as a practice race but the good news was that my SR was back up to S.

Slot 2 - Back into the normal lobbies, I qualified 9th. I felt pretty good about this race. That is until I got punted immediately at turn 1 by someone who braked way too late. They did wait for me looking at the replay, but I was beyond annoyed at having my race ruined by such a careless mistake. I still went ahead and finished the race, placing 11th. I took a much needed break before the final slot.

Slot 3 - I qualified 11th, so I went with a 11H/14M strategy. Managed not to get screwed over this time, but there was quite some chaos at the front of the field, which gained me a few positions. I completed my Hard tire stint, only picking up a minor 0.5 second track cut penalty the whole time. On my Medium stint, I made way up towards 6th place and traded positions with another RC F driver. Fortunately for me, they were on Hards so I had the grip advantage. I was able to pull away from them on the final lap and crossed the finish.

It was a hassle leading up to this but at least I got a decent result out of Sardegna. The final race at Interlagos is the only remaining round I'll be able to do, so I'm hoping I can finish the season strong there, even though I'm not particularly fond of that track.

just checked the standing and noticed who was leading in GT3; what is a top driver the level of @GOTMAXPOWER doing in the GT3 competion? Knowing the sportmanship he has shown in the past I can not imagine he is there to get some easy wins but still...

They really need a good think at PD and perhaps make some changes in these World Series. A+ level drivers belong in GT1 imo.

just checked the standing and noticed who was leading in GT3; what is a top driver the level of @GOTMAXPOWER doing in the GT3 competion? Knowing the sportmanship he has shown in the past I can not imagine he is there to get some easy wins but still...

I suspect that having a meme race like the Alphard at Monza the week before sign-up for Manu and having it count for SR/DR has sent more than a few faster people back to GT3.

just checked the standing and noticed who was leading in GT3; what is a top driver the level of @GOTMAXPOWER doing in the GT3 competion? Knowing the sportmanship he has shown in the past I can not imagine he is there to get some easy wins but still...

They really need a good think at PD and perhaps make some changes in these World Series. A+ level drivers belong in GT1 imo.

It's quite sad, I would've loved to do the Nurburgring 24 race in GT1 with the full 7 laps and mixed weather but I got demoted to GT3 by taking part in the van race at Monza before signing up. Being matched with 15 lunatics rejected from the Yodel delivery driver training program really did a number on my driver and safety ratings 😢, even more annoying I have a second account at the bottom of A+ but entering that would've been against the rules, its best to do things by the book instead of risk a penalty. I'm relieved that the DR has come back up so fast from D tbh.

It does highlight how the driver grading system is not fit for purpose in these GTWS leagues, looking at the top 100 in GT3 only 3% are DR C, everybody else is above the signup cutoff. It's a similar problem to what the FIA/SRO have with grading real drivers in actual motorsport, especially silvers who don't have enough experience for a gold/platinum rating but are far too fast to be racing against the amateurs. Personally I think PD should restructure the GTWC to have a eSports tier for the players who take it seriously, maybe have a time trial before round 1, if you finish with 1% of the top you're in GT1 then put everybody else in GT2 and set matchmaking by DR for each race.

Obviously GT3 isn't where I want to be but it's been nice, there is a nice atmosphere in the races and everybody is really friendly. It's also refreshing to be away from the most serious flaws in GT1, like not being able to race because there are only 3 time slots for each round and half of the Wednesday ones are when people are at work, or the massive advantage wheels have over controller players (thanks to the artificial input smoothing).

I agree. The system is dumb. Worst of it is the only three slots for GT1. The only times I can do a GT1 race are on my - alleged - EMEA account on Saturdays, because they're at like 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00 local time. I've complained about it before so I'll not rehash everything again.

It's unfortunate what happened to your account... but next time use the backup for the stupid memes races and leave the primary alone! Hindsight and all that. By how many minutes are you winning in the GT3 races?

When I picked Porsche at the start of this season I had my eye on 3 key rounds. In order of my expected strength they were; Watkins Glen, Nurburgring and Sardegna. I have just realised that I am going to be forced to miss Watkins Glen because it's my son's birthday dinner and the only slot times are 8pm, 10pm and midnight on a Saturday. I guess this is why I'll never be a proper alien, I won't prioritise a sim race over a family event. (And the lack of talent of course)

It just really irritates me that I have to make the choice. It's even worse for the NZ peeps where it's 10pm, midnight and 2am.

I simply do not understand why they chose these times. It's not like 5pm is super early on a Saturday for Vietnamese racers (the earliest timezone in Asia).

Exactly why i would like to see that DR/SR is seperated from dailies and the World Series, DR drops and gains in the dailies have to much influence on the World Series now. With the exception of a few daily A races I only do World Series races which means that my DR/SR only goes up (or down) with a very limited amount each race. Finally made B recently after the first race and looking forward to get promoted to GT 2, but it a slow process.
I take the World Series competition serious, even though I have off course no chance of actually winning anything.

But one would also think that with all the data that PD has available that it would be visible for their system that someone who was an A+ driver a few days earlier is now signing up for a league that is for C level drivers and lower. Surely PD could have figured out that it is to easy to get in a league lower then one should be and get easy wins and worse, get those at the costs of the drivers that are in the correct league. I get it if one is low B and demoted to high C that the system can not accurately judge the level of a driver and allow one entering in GT3 but from A+ to D level should easily be visible.

I understand that you can never get a perfect and 100% fair system but currently there are just to many issues that allow people to abuse the system.

And to be clear; not pointing the finger at you, @GOTMAXPOWER, on the contrary. I know your reputation as a driver and fully confinced that you are not just there for some seal clubbing. (And at least now I can say that I am close in the standings to a driver of your level!)

And fully understand the issue with the current GT 1 league, with too few slots at awkward times, hope PD will change that in the new season.
 
I agree it would be nice to separate Daily DR and GTWS DR. I rarely do the normal Sport races these days so my DR is quite static, means I can't get into higher scoring lobbies even with good results in the championship races. Never going to challenge the top of course, but would be nice if I had a chance at getting the 60 odd points I need in the GT2 Chevy battle with @OJBrit.

 
Apologies if this is a silly question, but for those of you proposing to separate Daily DR from GTWS DR, how do you then build up the latter enough to have the sample size you need to separate skill levels?

Right! And I am extra bummed because I love WG; it is one of my favorite course. I just realized a couple days ago despite it being the next race after this Wednesday's race at Spa, Saturday got skipped and WG is also on a Wednesday! Why did they skip Saturday!!?? :banghead: That means I can probably do a GT2 race in the late afternoon and that will be it. No EMEA GT1 (because I, ya know... work!) and 99% sure no GT1 on the US side either.

Again, I've complained about this before so I feel like I am just yelling at the clouds at this point. I don't really want to get into why I can't make the US side GT1 races, but just know that similar to Dragline I have other, real world priorities going on that are more important. It just bums me out because the GTWS races are by far the best thing GT has to offer - especially the GT1 layouts with longer races and strat involved - and since the move to three slots it's not usually something I can participate in. Oh well, life goes on...

I agree with this. Didn’t think much of this race when the schedule came out, but Saturday’s race was enjoyable. The ‘20 AMG was a fun car at this track.

I managed a P5 qualy and a P5 finish. The race was fairly uneventful as I was driving by myself most of the time. Could’ve managed a P4 with perfect driving, but made a handful of mistakes early in the race. I believe the guy in P4 was on medium’s in the second stint as he passed me pretty easily late in the race.

DR is too volatile in general, if you race a lot it's measuring your current form on a individual circuit and car combination rather than your skill level, like if you're a lot better in Gr.3 than Gr.4 or the other way round there is no hope in the other half of the races because your score is putting you up against players you have no chance of being competitive with.

Ideally there would be a way to matchmake base on time trial times but that would be abused even more than the current system.
 
This whole season has been a struggle for me. Not sure if it’s Alfa or if I’m just plateauing. Maybe a bit of both. Regardless, had a fantastic race at the back (could barely see @Spider-Racer and @OutlawQuadrnt was wayyyyy ahead). Qualified 13 out of 14 (I guess 2 got scared off when they saw Greddy in the lobby 🤣). Finished top 10!! Lol.

Some actual respectful racing - amidst the usual dirty driving - behind me.

I'm still a bit salty that the entire field went on hards instead of the more typical mixture. Realistically could've only had 2nd at best and so a podium was nice, especially since I actually put in a bit of practice for once.

Already did a mock stint at Spa. As expected, front tires get destroyed and so MRs will be at a advantage. Also, PD's utter obsession of having a no stop Spa race for every other season is annoying.
 
Have had much luck this season so far. Was looking forward to it at the start but just haven't been in a good mental state. Used round 4 has a race to try to get back to feeling comfortable driving and hopefully I can get back into it mentally for the second half of the season and focus harder.

Definitely not a silly question, but moreover…a common sense question.

There’s no way you can separate FIA dr from Daily’s DR.

Yes, there are a lot of A+ drivers who do FIA stuff only, but they became A+ (or whatever rank), by earning the DR through the daily’s. I do think that they should allow people to move up classes during a season as their DR improves, but not the other way around.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’m a fan of the current BOP. I always find it amusing how some people want to choose a non-meta on purpose to go against the grain, only to complain that one - or both -of their cars get smoked. Same for the people that pick a Manu that has a super strong Group-whatever car, but a less than desirable other group-whatever car. That’s part of the strategy of picking a Manu that best suits the tracks you’ll do best on, and weighing out the compromises. If I had it my way, there would be an equal amount of Gr.3 and Gr.4 races that counted towards your final score. This would help some of the lesser manufactures like Dodge/VW/Ford/Chevy/Citroen ect. whom have Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars that aren’t exactly bad…but aren’t standouts either. In its current state, it’s funny that you saw plenty of Ferrari’s at the first 2 rounds, only to see very few of them at the gr.3 rounds.

As far as the GT1 time slots, yes…it kind of sucks, but I kind of get it too. Limited time slots condenses the player pool, which in turn will up the competition and the pressure to perform. But admittedly as someone who also works for a living (and has a goofy-ass schedule at that), I’ll never be able to do an entire season on one account. And for me, this is where Alts, unfortunately come in. I have an account in each region, all the DR’s are roughly the same. This week’s round for instance, I will only be able to do it tomorrow on my oceanic account, being that I can’t do anything on Wednesday. I get that people like to keep score. Personally, I just consider it a win if I can do each round on at least one account 😎
 
Totally forgot to do some practice for Spa tomorrow. Just jumped on now for a quick 30mins in TT and boy the Genesis G70 is so slow! 2.30.407 best lap I can do. 5 seconds off the top times and 2 seconds slower than the fastest G70 time on the leader board. Not looking forward to this race now tomorrow with my pace on TT. Hate to think what it will be on the race.

GT2/3 racers… I assume this is just a straight out sprint for the 8 laps. I mean 8 laps? What are PD playing at with this race? I mean we had this race in Daily C a few months back which had dynamic weather.


Have to be honest I do fear for the future of Sport mode on this game for the next coming months. I just feel like they is no imagination from PD especially toward GT2/3 players. Watching GT1 streams and majority of the races they had all be exciting. For me in Nations it was good overall & Manufacturers it’s been pretty average overall so far (and for the upcoming races).
Also to add to that, the Daily Races are getting very stale too. Getting a lot of repeat races now (same laps, tyres and fuel wear)


Key - ✅ = good, ❓ = average, ❌ = poor
Nations for GT2/3
Round 1 - Spa Gr3 - missed this round but looks like a normal Daily C race in with a tyre pit stop, maybe needed to be 15 laps? ❓
Round 2 - Fuji Gr2 - good distance 20 laps, and also 2 tyres required ✅
Round 3 - Deep Forest Super Formula - distance about right with 16 laps and tyre wear was good for GT2/3 and you had the choice of stopping or no stopping ✅
Round 4 - Lago Maggiore Gr4 - Boring sprint, 10 laps, just hards tyres ❌
Round 5 - Interlagos Gr1 - 15 laps just about right for this, plus 2 mandatory tyres ✅
Round 6 - Dragon Trail Scirocco Gr4 - so on paper this race is boring, but it was the best race I think we’ve had so far in GTWS. 15 laps was just about right, maybe could have added a few more laps. Straight forward sprint, but I think the car and the track just went well together. Felt like, a proper Touring Car race. ❓
Round 7 - Grand Valley Gr3 - 15 laps? maybe a few more laps. Strategy of two tyre types was ok too. ✅

Manufacturers for GT2/3
Round 1 - Catalonia - the mandatory pit stop actually made that a bit more interesting - race distance & the strategy were ok❓
Round 2 - Road Atlanta - race distance was about right 15 laps, but I do think it needed to be mandatory medium tyres and maybe a one or two higher on the tyre multipliers. ❓
Round 3 - Nürburgring - didn’t experience rain in my race so it does drop my rating a little bit, but I would have liked 1 more lap and it been 4 lap race (hour time slots stop us having an extra lap) ❓
Round 4 - Sardegna - was perfect. Good distance and tyre strategy was about right ✅
Round 5 - Spa - too short of a race, 10/12 laps at least, mediums mandatory and make a pit stop happen or even make it a fuel race with a stop. ❌
Round 6 - Watkins Glen - distance I’m happy with 15 laps, forced tyres happy with, should be a good race (hopefully) just hope the x3 tyre wear is enough to make the soft tyres wear that you have to run the hards for a few laps. Prediction ✅
Round 7 - Interlagos - happy with the distance 20 laps, but it looks like it will be just a straight out sprint race on the hards. Don’t think tyre wear will enough to effect the race, and pit stop for mediums could be too long. Prediction❓
 
Just finished a practice race in the RCZ. Oh my this is going to be another rough one for the FF cars.

I started p6 and finished p7 after moving up to p4 within the first few laps but lost enough pace to give up 3 places during laps 10-13.

I ran brake balance +5 and tc at 2 in hopes of saving my tires a little bit. Completely red front left when starting lap 16.

I’m definitely not good at tire saving and keeping pace within the race 🙄

May take a DR hit tomorrow but I’ll see what I can make of it. 🫣
 
Stupid weekday races. Only going to have time for one run tonight after work. As I am way off the pace in the 458 compared to others at my level, think I will leave that one in the garage and race in the Corvette instead. Ready-made excuse with it being so slow.
 
I'm mad right now. I'd smash some heads with a steel bar if I had them at reach.

How can someone be so dirty? And for the third round in a row I am the one being punished for pushing NO ONE off track. I honestly think the only thing I could be blamed for was contact with the Cayman at lap 5 turn 1, and even there I think I was alongside at braking point and therefore he shouldn't close the gap like he did; I may be wrong here.

But specially: How can someone be so STUPID to be dirty while going with the wrong tyres!!!!???? Why push me to the wall when you still have to do a mandatory pit stop? If you are so eager to win start by READING THE ******* RULES!!!!!

Yeah, I could be more cautious, but at some point I want to race someone, not just doing "conservative time trials" behind everyone hoping I will take their positions when they crash. If I can't do that at SR S, where?

After that cycled back with a little detour in this typical Dutch landscape. Nice weather, the heat and humidity is gone for a few days. Then got a cup of tea and a good book, happy to spent a day doing pretty much nothing, no work till Friday night.:)

And there is today's race off course; can the day get even better?

B/S lobby, did two okay qualifying laps and thought I had pole but in the last seconds a Frensch Supra beat me with over 0.6 seconds.

So, I knew this guy was probably faster then me. But not at the start he was, he got away bad and at the Kemmel straight I was already alongside. He outbraked himself massively at the end of the straight and suddenly I was in the lead. Had a big moment in Blanchimont and almost lost it but managed to get back on track and had a narrow lead.

Starting lap 2 I suddenly had a 2 second lead, think because of the cars behind me fighting at La Source. Still in the lead after 4 laps but the French Supra was gaining on me fast and soon we were alongside again at the Kemmel straight. I did not put up much defending, figuring he was faster anyway so gave up the lead and tried following him. Second place was also fine.

I noticed then he was perhaps a bit nervous, he lost some speed, driving a bit erratic and I stayed close behind him and see if i could profit from a mistake by him.

End lap five then this happened:



I am pretty sure he tried to take me out because he got a penalty, but it backfired big time for him. What do you think?

After that I just had to do my laps and went over the finish for another win, and again winning not because I am the fastest there.
Getting a lot of free wins by faster drivers making mistakes. Fine with me, all take them!!

I honestly think the only thing I could be blamed for was contact with the Cayman at lap 5 turn 1, and even there I think I was alongside at braking point and therefore he shouldn't close the gap like he did; I may be wrong here.

But specially: How can someone be so STUPID to be dirty while going with the wrong tyres!!!!???? Why push me to the wall when you still have to do a mandatory pit stop? If you are so eager to win start by READING THE ******* RULES!!!!!

Yeah, I could be more cautious, but at some point I want to race someone, not just doing "conservative time trials" behind everyone hoping I will take their positions when they crash. If I can't do that at SR S, where?


sure, you had contact with the Cayman, but obviously that was just racing. His reaction was ridiculous though! double idiot for not checking the rules prior the race. You were in a bad lobby it seems being forced to the wall twice. But do not give up, still most are out there trying to race clean. (I specifically said 'trying')

Yeah looked like he tried to take you out! Did he still finish 2nd?
He still got second place, a few seconds behind me and left the lobby immideately after. Do think he was fuming with himself. Really the nicest wins one can have.... :lol:

I've generally been okay with the lengths of GT2 races this season, but after finishing the race today, this one, along with the Maggiore Nations round, are definitely the two where I've thought "Oh, that's it?" when I've crossed the finish line.

Also remember to switch tyres before race start! I only remembered I needed to switch to hards with about 8 seconds left on the countdown, it was a very hectic bit of menuing.
 
Well, today started just so lovely; Wife went out early to go to the gym before going to the University so I figured to go out too, so grabbed the MTB and cycled to the nearby 'polder' to go for a run. After that cycled back with a little detour in this typical Dutch landscape. Nice weather, the heat and humidity is gone for a few days. Then got a cup of tea and a good book, happy to spent a day doing pretty much nothing, no work till Friday night.:)

And there is today's race off course; can the day get even better?

B/S lobby, did two okay qualifying laps and thought I had pole but in the last seconds a Frensch Supra beat me with over 0.6 seconds.

So, I knew this guy was probably faster then me. But not at the start he was, he got away bad and at the Kemmel straight I was already alongside. He outbraked himself massively at the end of the straight and suddenly I was in the lead. Had a big moment in Blanchimont and almost lost it but managed to get back on track and had a narrow lead.

Starting lap 2 I suddenly had a 2 second lead, think because of the cars behind me fighting at La Source. Still in the lead after 4 laps but the French Supra was gaining on me fast and soon we were alongside again at the Kemmel straight. I did not put up much defending, figuring he was faster anyway so gave up the lead and tried following him. Second place was also fine.

I noticed then he was perhaps a bit nervous, he lost some speed, driving a bit erratic and I stayed close behind him and see if i could profit from a mistake by him.

End lap five then this happened:



I am pretty sure he tried to take me out because he got a penalty, but it backfired big time for him. What do you think?

After that I just had to do my laps and went over the finish for another win, and again winning not because I am the fastest there.
Getting a lot of free wins by faster drivers making mistakes. Fine with me, all take them!!

Congrats on the win! I think it's possible the Supra also had dirty tires, was on a terrible line due to rejoining, and was desperate to keep the lead, all of which led to him sliding into you at the exit of the chicane. So pretty poor driving, but maybe not intentional.

2:00pm slot EMEA GT3 (Dr C)

Driving for Nissan this time around so had a choice between the Silvia or the GT-R. I had practiced both and at my pace it was a coin toss between the two.

Reading comments in the forum earlier in the week consensus appeared to be no-stop on hards. That being the case, I opted to run the Silvia.

Managed to get out 2nd for the qualifying run and posted a 2:32.3 on my first flying lap which was good enough for 4th. I made a mess of Eau Rouge on my 2nd lap so headed back to the pits for the remaining minute or so. My time stood up and 4th was where I started. Pole was set with a 2:30.2 which for a DR C driver seemed very fast indeed. That time was 2 seconds faster than 2nd.

I changed tyres to hards as soon as qualifying ended!!

Race starts and I am immediately losing ground to the leaders and the 5th placed Ferrari is all over my back end. I decided that safety was the better option and gave them room to pass, which they did. I was hoping folks had started on mediums and would have to pit at some point.

The now 4th place Ferrari was a tad too aggressive several times so we trade 4 & 5 on multiple occasions due to him exceeding a few track limits along the way.

At the end of lap 6, the driver in 2nd had to pit to switch tyres. As he had been on the softer tyre, he had quite a lead on me. As my lap progressed they began to lose places. They were still in the pits after I had finished my lap and I was up to fourth. After the race he reported that his stop lasted for the better part of a minute! He rejoined in 8th.

I held a hard charging driver from Belgium a couple of seconds behind me and I crossed the line in 4th. I was more than happy with this but almost ecstatic when the race screen showed me in 2nd!! It seems the Ferrari driver in 3rd and the 2nd placed driver hadn‘t run the hard tyre at all. They eventually ended up 10 & 11 after their penalties.

The pole sitter and winner ran hards all the way and finished 30+ seconds in front of me. I’ll leave it to you to decide if their Dr C is genuine.

So, best result of the season and “one & done”. :):gtpflag:
