Another frustrating race. Qualified P9 with my fastest lap of the event. Gained a position as someone had spun on the exit of the first tunnel. Another Subaru was all over place so I had a look but they moved in the braking zone and upset my car enough that I went wide. Then the car just understeers on the entrance into the long tunnel. I glance the wall but this is enough to upset the car (like in the manu final) and I spin. The tunnel is strangely narrow and it takes a few turns to get straight again.

I am now DFL and 12 seconds off the next guy. They pit lap 4 for mediums. Next guy is again 11 seconds ahead. A few laps later they have spun and I am on their tail. Next lap I get close enough for a move into the downhill left before the last chicane. I am past. A few others had pit and I have naturally caught up to people too. A couple of laps from the end I am also able to make a move onto a McLaren into the final chicane. I gain another place on the line due to a tyre penalty to come P10 in the end. Currently my goals are top 10's which I achieved here, so took the result.

Did save my gameplay. On further viewing I’m still not sure if it was deliberate. I was very slow through that chicane all race so maybe it just caught them off guard. My response was way too aggresive anyway so I think I owe them an apology for that.
V.harsh response friend. Far too much of a vigilante move to wall him like that. At least you recognise this.

Just my 2c.

I mean, if you're going to constantly drive into the back of someone from turns 1-5 of Trial Mountain, with all the elevation change and crazy camber, don't be surprised if the car gets a bit squirrely and hard to control...

Just did the Mfg Cup race @ Deep Forrest. Started 8th, made a couple of passes and was gifted one to finish 5th. Fun all around. Now off to try my hand at the last Porsche Cup race @ Daytona.

I was planning to do the first slot, but was a bit early so started with some free practice to try to figure out how to rotate that GT-R.
First mistake of the evening - missed the time, and so the slot :boggled:

Second slot, this time I join properly. But forgot to change tyres, start the qualif on hard, and have to pit to get the medium. Add a penalty on the last lap, and I get a single, fairly average, qualif lap putting me P6.
I'm well aware the 1 pit strat doesn't work, so thinking I need to get the tyres right for the race, I somehow manage to change the hard tyres to medium after qualif. I'm still unsure what I was thinking there.

Did an OK race, pace wasn't very high. Got into a bit of a battle with a Supra, but turned out it was on medium as well and with its speed on the straight I gave up and cruised 2-3 seconds behind.

P3 on lap 9, 10s ahead of P4, and went to change to hard. Out P6 - around 20s loss, as other said that wasn't a viable strategy.
One guy got the last left before the chicane completely wrong, giving me P5.

Pretty sure a podium was completely in reach, but clearly I wasn't very focused today so decided that will do.

Except for me being an idiot it was a pretty good race, a great track and clean driving by everyone.
Lots of different cars on that slot as well.

I'm back after missing last season due to being busy with stuff. I switched over to Ford after liking the Mustang in daily races. Trial Mountain isn't my best track but I'm decent enough to make laps. I enter the 20:00 GT2 East Coast slot and hope for the best. I qualify in P9 with a 1:52.315 which is what I expected. The screen freezes after the intro as 2 drivers dropout/disconnect. We get underway.

I warm up my tires and completely forget that slipstream is a thing and I miss my apex on turn 1 and hit the barrier. Get going again with damage and settle into P12. A few laps later, I get hit with a 3 second ignoring the yellow flag penalty and I'm shocked it happened. I was in P8 at the time and turning some decent laps. Turns out that someone spun before the tunnel turn, the driver in front of me lost control and I passed as I was close enough to do so. I thought the yellow flag was for the driver in front of me. I then get hit by the same driver that I passed under yellow when we entered corner after the long backstretch and we both got to the apex at the same time. Fortunately, I don't loose that much time and kept going. They apologize post race chat and it's all good.

After I serve the penalty, I'm in P11 and have a nice battle with P10 in a Supra. Every mistake they made I couldn't capitalize on. Mainly due to me making a similar mistake. But, P8 and P9 are battling hard and it keeps us just in slipstream range. So I finish P11. Or do I? Thanks to 2 drivers not using the hard tyre, I finish in P9 with 82 points.

Overall, I don't think I did too bad. Some mistakes like hitting the wall and pushing a bit too hard didn't help, but I still had some fun. I'll take my points and move on to next week. I've also added a picture of the liveries I'll be using that are based on the helmet of my local NFL team of the Buffalo Bills as the American football season starts soon. And some battle damage from the race as I thought it looked cool.

Slot 1: Qualified P8, was overtaken by a GT-R on the back straight on Lap 1 as I got a poor exit due to my tires still being a bit cold, and dropped to P9. I stayed in P9 for a few more laps until a Supra ahead messed up somewhere between the first tunnel and the end of Sector 1. This allowed me to draw alongside down the back straight, then pass at the banked left-hander. The Supra then blew right past me in the same spot a lap later with much less effort. A little later, the same Supra got the first 2 turns completely wrong, which left it on a terrible line for the turn before the first tunnel, and giving me a massive run around the outside. I was hoping he'd realize there was no possible way to defend without wrecking, and fortunately he did and he yielded the spot and put me back to where I started in P8. He then served his track limits penalty at the end of the lap, leaving no one in my slipstream. The rest of the race I was basically in no-man's land, with nowhere near enough pace to catch those in front, but enough to keep extending the gap to those behind. On Lap 9, someone ahead who'd started on Mediums pitted (and took more Mediums...), giving me P7, which is where I would finish (unfortunately the worst of the 2 Corvettes in this race - the other finished 5th). 7th place was worth 224, which is honestly very low compared to all of my counted scores from last season, but I was literally at my limit in terms of pace, so I likely wouldn't be able to do any better in later slots.

My race was OK. Had a good battle for a few laps which was fun. The end was not as fun.

Anyways... before the race some nice person typed "don't forget to change your tires back". I had already but one person said thanks so they probably didn't. 1 person I guess didn't even notice that and finished with a penalty while holding up a pack of cars.

Why can't they add a bot to the lobby to remind everyone of the race details before the race with a simple message? That would be a kindness and improve safety. :)

Kinda made the same mistake as you. Quali I was on mediums, but during the 2/3 minute break between quali and the race I went off to grab a drink and when I came back I just remembered that I needed to switch back to hards, but as I was changing the time expired.
After my pit stop I was P6. I’m pretty sure a podium or even a win was possible for myself but when decided to not run any more races.

Isn’t they a big blue box on the lobby screen showing the mandatory tyres required?
What would be better is in the lobby if they had a clear “Car Setup“ button. Sometimes I forget about car setup as the current button layout has car settings hidden in a general setting button.

Normally before a race I will quickly look through the race requirements to make sure I don’t miss these rules. They is a race coming up soon in the manufacture that has no required tyres, x1 fuel & tyre wear but they is a mandatory pit stop required.

Just got tested by some other drivers. Wall penalties are cranked back up now apparently. Just like the Porsche Cup issues they had in NA. Fixed in time for the race, but TT board could be wonky.

I hope they have fixed it. I loaded the quickest Vantage ghost after finding I was around 4 seconds off the top times. I was right with it until turn 2 when it rode the wall and exited a good 3 seconds ahead. I then watched several of the top times and they were all doing it.

It’s hard to know whether my times will be competitive or not. Even one of the guys on my friend list who is generally the same pace as me has a 14.4 which I assume is wallriding.

Also, it’s a fictional track. Why not just put a small kink in the barrier to stop it ever happening again.

Well you won't be changing tyres or refuelling so it'll just be pitting whenever you think you're being held up.
But yes they could've come up with much more creative multipliers than this
I imagine I’d just depend on how influential the draft is, which being high speed ring I’d assume it would be. In that case I dare say everyone will just wait until the last lap

Yeah true, though my car will probably struggle to stay in the draft 😂😭

Hi Everyone,

After a 7+ month hiatus I hoped PD had fixed enough of the bugs and what not to start joining the the FIA races again.
Turned out they did fix stuff but I also noticed a LOT of changes that really have me puzzled.

But first the race.

Apparently I am in a league of some sorts GT2 I believe with unknown DR (one of those baffles) and in the new Genesis XG70 (what a smashing car!)

I have never driven Trail Mountain in my life, nor with the Genesis before and jumping back in the races you can bet I was rusty.
But that's not all. I found out have to buy all the tyres (?!?!?) I want to use before the race and keep my engine fresh by revising it every so often (?!?!?), after each race (?). A lot of surprises indeed.

I decided I didn't want to cause any problems for others so did my quali on the hards. But that was not smart, 'cause I hindered others more than anything else. So pulled over and switched to meds. My times are way off and I was lucky enough to start 12th.
Drove conservatively for the first part of the race. It was a good clean race although I did get hit hard accidentaly by the only Audi driver (at leas THAT hasn't changed, Audi seems still a poor drive) in the game.
I recovered somewhat from that and had a nice race with the people just behind and in front of me. In the end I finished 10th, so very pleased about that.

Next two races I'm off on holiday but I'll be back for Laguna. I hope the GT4 Genesis drives just as good, if not better than it's GT3 counterpart.

One question for you all though: I noticed most people in my race in the top 5 had more driver assists on than usual (being none). The winner for example drove with TCS, Counter steering assist and ASM on. Others used assists as well. From what I could read and from my own little experience I could tell cars are more sketchy than in GT Sport. Is using more assists becoming the norm? What are the drawbacks of counter steering and ASM in particular (TCS I know).

Cheers,

Seth

The blue box is enough. Let's not hand hold people who should learn after 1 mistake.
I get the feeling Ferrari strategists moonlight at PD for race combos.
Beat me to it.

I only ended up doing Manufacturers this weekend, but what a brutal race!!

Firstly, I qualified almost last. Just couldn't put together a lap in the ten-minute qualy window. That wasn't a problem though, as gaining spots in the race seems to be what I do best.

Before long I was sitting around 12th, but my slow rise up the ranks was blocked (literally) by this hugely defensive Mustang who just would not let me by.

I was right on him, clearly had pace and really wanted to buy into the battle pack ahead of us, but this guy would not let me go, even squashing me when I tried to make a move in the first tunnel.

Eventually I got by, and of course he couldn't keep up, but the pack of guys ahead of me were now out of reach, so the only spots I gained were those of people who had crashed or made mistakes.

The runner up also didn't race on hards, so that was a free spot! Ended up P8 which wasn't the worst, but I just know it could have been better if I simply got by the Mustang sooner!

I wish they would add a driver assist for automatic pit stops. If on, forcing the car into the pit on the last eligable lap if they haven't already. Also safely going in and out of the pits without triggering a penalty. Would be useful for novice to intermediate drivers to focus on racing before worrying too much about strategy.

Why? All you need to do is not touch a line and read the race requirements. You make that mistake once max and after that you should know.

Nothing wrong with asking for at least a bit of skill and not holding ones hands.....

Two GR.4 races for this weekend is a bit unimaginative.

Started testing for the Deep Forest round. I’m sure the GTR will be the fastest option for most but I just can’t get the hang of it, too much understeer. The Alfa will likely chew through the mediums. I’m liking the Trophy so far - it lacks a bit of top end speed but is very smooth through the bends and on the brakes.

Then I have bad news for you, as the event was at Trial Mountain.
Or that too :)

Has anyone tried doing Free Practice laps on the next Mfg Cup round @ High Speed Ring in Gr4? I'm WAAYYY off pace and by the looks of the ghosts I loaded folks are cheating and wall riding the first hairpin.

There must be a trick to it because sometimes I get hit with a 1.5 sec penalty and sometimes I don't

Sorry if this has been covered already. I signed with Toyota for my Asian alt account. Want to use my Supra GT500 as my GR.3 car solely so I can use my sequential shifter. Is there anyway to change into his car? Haven't done a round yet.

WRX seems to be the pick here at least for hot laps . According to leader boards.
one thing to keep in mind is the x4 tire wear on M, the 4wds will tear though tires pretty quickly. Megane seems really slow here and unless you can skip pit stops with it will not be worth. Silvia is fast and good on tires but I can nt get used to it. Going to have to do some 18x lap practice races to see what tire wear will be like.
