Two GR.4 races for this weekend is a bit unimaginative.

Started testing for the Deep Forest round. I’m sure the GTR will be the fastest option for most but I just can’t get the hang of it, too much understeer. The Alfa will likely chew through the mediums. I’m liking the Trophy so far - it lacks a bit of top end speed but is very smooth through the bends and on the brakes.

WRX seems to be the pick here at least for hot laps . According to leader boards.
one thing to keep in mind is the x4 tire wear on M, the 4wds will tear though tires pretty quickly. Megane seems really slow here and unless you can skip pit stops with it will not be worth. Silvia is fast and good on tires but I can nt get used to it. Going to have to do some 18x lap practice races to see what tire wear will be like.
I've done some testing. Tried the GTR, WRX and 86 so far.
The GTR laps slower than the WRX for me and wears the tyres quicker.
The WRX's early laps are quickest but the tyre wear gets to it around lap 14. By the end I was lapping 2 seconds slower.
The 86 is slower on fresh rubber but is way better on tyres.

Ultimately the WRX and the 86 were about the same race time overall (within 2 tenths). The GTR was 2 seconds behind.

The Slophy would be next on my list. Its single lap speed isn't superb, but its usually great on tyres. Silvia is similar and might actually end up the best option. Not sure what others might be competitive.

Did some tire testing for Nations Cup (Gr. 4, Deep Forest). It was tiring. 0 stop for all runs listed below.

Silvia is best on tires, as it's one of the lightest Gr. 4 cars. At least for me, it was the most consistent, and tire wear didn't become much of an issue. Also drives pretty nice everywhere at Deep Forest, which is a plus.

Megane Trophy is good from T1 to T10 (left turn into the back straight), but lacks the power and speed for the straights, making it a sitting duck. Also a bit harsh on the rear tires, so it gets sketchy from laps 9 and on...

WRX is a time trial/qualifying car. It'll do well in qualifying and the first 9 laps, but the front tires wear out too quickly, and its pace will fall off.

The 155 is like the WRX, but with: less speed, more handling, slightly better tire wear. You still get front tire wear issues, though.

Watched your video - absolutely brilliant work, thank you for that.
Both the lap guide and the strategy part are really useful.

It pushed me to try the Silvia, which handles well on that track.
Got a 1:33.6x with a bit of effort - that is bound to be good enough for GT2 I'd think, so will go with that car for the race.

I’m A+, I have the second best time on my friend list full of A and A+ drivers. It’s a 33.3.

33.6 Will be absolutely lightning in GT2.

I don't have a picture for it, but I did the same test with Silvia and GTR for tyre wear and the GTR was bad, like the Subaru. I can get a quicker lap time with it but it bleeds lap times after lap 10.

Another potential to look into would be for what car is good on tyres but uses a lot of fuel, you don't need to worry about fuel anyway but less fuel = less weight thus better on tyres and potentially more consistent times from start to finish and therefore better overall time for 18 laps. I wish I could test this myself right now but life as usual gets in the way!

I also wonder who wont read the rules for the Manufacturer's race and get a minute penalty... 😂

Don't tell them - it's the only way I'll make up any places.

Sorry if this has been covered already. I signed with Toyota for my Asian alt account. Want to use my Supra GT500 as my GR.3 car solely so I can use my sequential shifter. Is there anyway to change into his car? Haven't done a round yet.

You can use any GR.3 or GR.4 car from your chosen manufacturer - so with my Aston Martin contract I can use either the Vantage or DBR9 for GR.3 races.

I thought you had to make your car choice when you sign up if there are two cars in Gr3 for that manufacturer. That's how it works for me and you cannot change midway through the season/series.

No. I signed for Aston and chose the Vantage. I have routinely run the DBR9.

You only pick a car to borrow now. You can pick any car of the class for your chosen manufacturer from your garage (which includes the loaned car.)

Am I crazy or is Jaguar absolutely nowhere at the HSR manu cup?

Couldn't see an F-Type anywhere in like the top 300 (last I checked) and I'm struggling to even drop into the 1:15s. Not gonna be a fun one, it seems.

Or that too :)

Has anyone tried doing Free Practice laps on the next Mfg Cup round @ High Speed Ring in Gr4? I'm WAAYYY off pace and by the looks of the ghosts I loaded folks are cheating and wall riding the first hairpin.

There must be a trick to it because sometimes I get hit with a 1.5 sec penalty and sometimes I don't

Nevermind....looks like I was practicing on IM tires instead of RH lol.....but it does still look like a tad bit of wallriding might be occuring from the ghosts I've watched haha.

I just lost my A+ thanks to a bad race C....wondering whether I should try and get it back before Nations cup, or just practice for Nations. I've managed a 33.0 in the Alfa, but haven't been able to get close to that in the Silvia.... I haven't had time to do a lobby yet (I'm moving house on Friday), so thanks @Mistah_MCA for your videos! I really appreciate your efforts!

Tápai is at 300 exactly right now :), with 1:15.4, and Iseri at 389 - so even the guys in the showdown are not close to the top.
This being said the first 100 are probably using the wall, which is not possible anymore - so they are not really relevant.

The car speed makes a big difference for the track.
I could post a 1:15.2 with the GT-R - right now I'm ahead of a bunch of World Series drivers, so I'll take a screenshot and frame it.

I just have one question about this weeks race at High Speed Ring.

Are we going to be able to bump draft or will there be a SR penalty for rear ending?

I have never seen SR penalty for bump drafting before (at least not in GT sport)....but we don't get the little arrows like we used to....

Did a load more Deep Forest testing. Think I’m going to risk the Alfa, as it’s half a sec faster for me than anything else. Hope for a good grid slot, try and build a big enough gap before it shreds the tyres.

Right now, you’re in a group of 4 on my friends list who have the Jag within a tenth of each other, including @Redneckchef. All of you are generally similar pace to me. So I’d say you’re time is about right for the car.

I’ve only managed a 16.2 in the Vantage. The GTR and the WRX look to have a huge advantage.

I've only had it out for a few laps, maybe 10 or so. I know there's another tenth or 2 I can squeeze out, but after that I'm lost. Only hoping I can slipstream using the high gear to get a little extra speed come race time. Definitely looking like a 3 tier race except for the lightning fast guys.

Same here. I think a high 15 is possible. Not much more. The best legitimate time for an Aston looks like a 15 dead, so that’s probably about right for me.

This is going to be a frustrating race for anyone not in the metas.

Im going to try the Mitsubishi lancer out today, maybe can compete with the metas on that track, if yall do try it before me, let me know how it does

How can i test a car in racing conditions (BOPed) so that i can simulate tomorrows GTWS race?
custom race with the same BOP/fuel/tyre settings. Professional AI is still very slow though but at least you can get an idea of your own race pace.
