GT2 race finished better than it started. As soon as qualification began it was apparent I was at least half a second off the pace for even the midfield. A 35.255 was my best of the week in the Vantage, only good enough for 12th. Even my best lap of the week in the Alfa would've only been 9th.

First few laps were manic in the midfield as I tried not to shred the tyres but still hold position. Some great 3 and 4 wide racing.

Got caught as an innocent bystander in a crash amongst that lot, dropped me a few seconds behind 8-12 battle and I couldn't close the gap. Got a big shock around lap 9 when people started pitting - thought I'd missed a memo about a mandatory stop! My tyres were doing ok so I soldiered on and gladly took the gifted positions.

Last few laps were a bit sketchy, 2 seconds off my early pace so I didn't fight anyone coming up from behind, just nursed the Aston home. 7th place hit my season target of a top 8 each time, so banking that one and moving on. Front right tyre was very worn at the finish but still drivable - those WRXs must've been destroying their's. I think I was amongst a small handful of no-stoppers.

Also, no road rage this week! Didn't put a single person into a wall or onto the grass (there were opportunities).
Ugh I thought it was the other way around and this was today's, and I'd skipped the high speed ring, sigh!

Well that certainly went better than expected! I did a few practice laps earlier this week with the GT-R, WRX, Silvia, and Supra. My best time was in the WRX so I figured I would use that. As soon as the lobby opened, I decided to test again and tried the WRX and Alfa 155. I bested my practice time with the Alfa and then tried the WRX again and bested the Alfa time. For whatever reason, I liked the 155’s feel better even though I was slower by .1 or so.

I end up Q1 by .135 ahead of an Aston Martin. Race starts and I slowly start to pull away. I had him beat all over the track except for the final stretch to the line. He always gained on me there. At some point, I was up by over 4 seconds when I caught a 1 second track limit penalty. The Aston slowly started catching me and by lap 12 was right behind me coming to the line. I stayed right and signaled for him to take the pass on the left. I followed him for a few laps until lap 17 when I retook the lead on turn 1.

It seems from there he was planning on passing me on the final lap but I think his tires were dying. I made a great exit on the last turn and crossed the line .122 ahead to win. It was a great race and I don’t know what happened behind us but we were in front comfortably.

I wasn’t planning on racing but decided to at the last minute. I’m glad I did! Kudos to P2 for a very clean race!

Welcome to the High Speed Ring festival of Wall Riding. Please do not disturb the wall riders or attempt to kmpede their progress. Deliberate wall riding will not go punished, but slight accidental taps of the wall will receive the usual 1.5 second penalty. Proceed forth and "enjoy."

Anyway. Qualified p9 with an unflavored Jag. Did my best and was looking to bring it home p7 after some iffy encounters and getting only a random tap from a deranged punter who took out a few other drivers when I accidentally touched the wall exiting turn 2 while refusing to wall ride. My mistake as True to FIA rules, deliberate rule violations are ok, accidents get the penalty hammer. 1.5 seconds and a p8. Front 7 were in the Corvette, Supra and GTR and wall riding the hell out of it every lap.

I improved my points, but this round is a joke. Complete and utterly ridiculous test of how much you can exploit their algorithms and systems. Enjoy or engage at your own risk. I was mostly ok with my race but by refusing to wall ride I was completely uncompetitive.
See ya next week.
Hang on. I thought they had put a stop to that nonsense? So you can’t wall ride to practice/qualify but they haven’t fixed the race?

wall riding... I categorically refuse to participate in a round when you are forced to cheat to be competitive. Hats off to you for entering the race anyway and refusing to wall ride but it makes me wonder; if everybody that refuses to cheat would boycot a round like this then maybe, just maybe, PD would take action and fix this event. But propably not....

They haven't fixed it properly; I saw most of the drivers in Chuupagetti's livestream wallriding, in both qualifying and the race....

Did a Nations Cup last night on the 2 account and ended getting a win. I'd never done a Nations before and jumped on with enough time to put in two practice laps (though I did watch a guide on YT) before quali. Quali'ed P1 by less than .070" but it was a Subaru behind. I knew he'd be faster but also knew is tires were going to wear out quick. If he was really pressing me early I'd have let him passed and then got him later after his tires fell off. Luckly, even though it was ~.750-1.250" back for the first 7-8 laps, he started falling back bit by bit.

It was fun. Nations is basically a longer sport mode race with pre-race qualifying which was really cool. Will do again some time. Only thing I'd have liked to see was a mandatory pit stop; I think that would've added a lot of strategy and the cars would've been changed up quite a bit.

That being said, and on a side note, I am a huge fan of 90s JDM cars and the S15 is one of the most beautiful of them ever made. I'd have 100% owned one but they weren't sold in the states. My love for this car has not faded one bit.

Got disconnected before qualifying in the one slot I could do last night, disappointed since I really struggle to get my head around the new Deep Forest and Trial Mountain, have been avoiding racing online at them but had to learn eventually.

Won’t bother with the race tonight if it’s just a mess like everyone says it is.

What? I thought PD had put a stop to all this wall riding? That is disappointing to hear they haven’t sorted this issue out. Genuinely contemplating whether to race or not now? The fact that only some rounds count towards your total points tally I can afford to miss it I guess.

I missed the first round, but entered the Silvia I mean Nations Cup race last night. Using my usual Corvette I actually beat my practice time in qualifying with 1:34.1, good enough for P3 in this low end GT1 field. Had some close racing for the majority of the race with a 155 and a Silvia, but around lap 14 or so I seemed to have roasted my front tires way more than the Silvia's in the race and couple more caught of from behind. Shortly after entering the hairpin with 2 drivers on my tail I slid into the guy in front of me and bumped him off. His tires were so much better than mine he still came back and passed me and was a bit angry with me afterwards. I finished P5 for 145 points.

I had a very different experience. I also refuse to wall ride. Q6 in the Vantage with a GTR on pole, another Vantage Q2, Gtr 3rd, Supras 4&5.

Turn 2 on lap 1 the GTR in p3 tries to wall ride, messes it up and ends up meeting Barry R on the inside. Final turn on lap 1, both Supras ride the wall and both get a 1.5s penalty. By the end of lap 2, p1 and 2 are a coupke of seconds clear, I’m p3 with a Corvette and a Viper for company. P6 is 2 seconds back. The groups stayed like that for the entire race and I finish p4 behind the Viper and in front of the Corvette. Clean, smart racing, no wallriding. Good fun.

250 odd points.

Boycott is very tempting….

On the off chance folk at my level may not be that great at wall riding, Im going to try slot 1 and if it happens, I’ll be done for the day. Probably being v.naive.

Can i just say that that is a very elegant livery! Less is so much more here.....👍

Wasn't sure what to expect going into this one but started 12th, finished 6th, can't complain with the result and I didn't notice anyone cheating at least from my position anyway.

Pros for this were the setting and circuit looked fantastic under the lights, visually impressive I enjoyed this a lot. It's a decent drive of a lap and I kept it out of trouble and at a consistent pace to get through the field.

Judging by the amount of time I gained on everyone around me in the pit it looks like people were changing tires out of habit

I hoped I'd maybe nick into the top 5 on the back of some forgot-to-pit(ters) but it wasn't to be, seems like everyone remembered their one job this time.

I said catastrophe was coming, today was it. Awful, awful round.

My pace at High Speed Ring is just not there. How on earth people do the sweep around the green bit on turn 2 without touching the wall is well beyond me. I qualified P13 with a 1:16.307 so at least not at the back!

I ended up in a Subaru sandwich shop in the first few laps, there were that many of the things. On lap 3 one of them spelled my doom when this happened:

The game decided to give me a barrier collision penalty for that as well, just to add insult to injury. :irked:

The only reason I didn't finish last is one of the Subarus got taken out (by the same one that caused the chain reaction that finished me, no less) and then picked up a 3 second penalty from taking the last bend wrong on lap 8 and grinding the wall.

P15, no idea how many points as I didn't bother scrolling down to check.

Manufacturers GT2 Asia-Oceania slot 2
Nissan GT-R Gr.4

I don't think anyone on my race got the message that wall riding was still possible, maybe the good think about B lobbies...

I qualified Q2 with the GT-R, Q1 was quite far ahead on a Supra, and Q3 and Q4 close on AMG and Supra#2, then a big gap.
I was thinking it would be nice if the 4 of us collaborate to escape.

But second corner P1 completely messes up, hit the wall and loose a lot of speed, and nicely let me pass without fuss. Then he also messes up the last corner of that first lap, hitting the wall again and getting a penalty.

This created a gap of almost 2s between me and the next 2 cars, putting them out of my slipstream. And the gap kept on growing over the next few laps.
Checking the replay, the AMG was struggling with the last corner, taking almost the full straight to catch up the Supra, giving very little bump draft opportunity. Eventually the AMG got a penalty as well, leaving the Supra#2 alone, and my pace was a bit better and more constant so I just completely pulled away.

Out of pit I was still P1, with 2 laps to go and around 7s ahead of Supra#1 who did manage to recover quite a bit from his poor start.

Wasn't the most exciting race, but very happy to bring back a win.

So after seeing that people were wall riding I was in two minds as to bother with with this round. In the end I gave it go as I might as well.
Quali I was on P4.
Race start all ok and a few hairy moments while tyres still cold but got through that fine. So P2 at the start was I guess taking a comfort break as they missed the start so was then running in P3. The Porsche ahead was slow in some sections but quick in others, it made the bump draft thing awkward as when I closed up it was the wrong corner to bump them. On lap 6 the Porsche made an error and hit the barrier on the final turn and spun. Stayed in P2 all race with 2-3 second gap to 1st and 2-3 seconds gap to P3. End of lap 12 I was now 1.2 seconds off P1 so decide to offset my stop and pit here to try and hopefully get an undercut. Lap 14 P1 is exiting the pit the lane and by the time we get to T2 I was only half a second behind. Couldn’t pass on the final turns so finished P2. What’s annoying is technically I should have won this race (as I explain below)

D315045C-AD0D-40CC-9ED5-1C63374651EC.jpeg

Good race and didn’t have too many issues myself……but then we come to the big issue... Wall Riding.
So during the race I could see P1 blue striped Subaru, P3 White Subaru & P4 Blue Evo all wall riding every lap. The white Subaru didn’t wall every lap but was they were doing it at times. As for me I never wall rode once unless I made an error and just clipped the barrier.
Video shows several laps on the wall riders and then me in the AMG not wall riding. P1 by the way stopped wall riding on the last 2 laps for some reason.
I’ve been told I can send this footage to a World Tour driver who works for PD and they will investigate and potentially ban drivers who cheated. I don’t know if is worth the hassle of sending it or not, plus the rumours I’ve seen it looks like this round will be null and voided.

My poor TT isn't so good at High Speed Ring - 14th lol , yea people are wall grinding and thus getting away easily

what a shame really , i expected really good race but i just wasted my time on it :(

Checking the replay, not as much wall riding as I thought, at least in the race, just a couple doing it consistently (the showers of sparks did look very nice).

How can I have been racing that track for 25 years and still be so slow?!

Really was just a slipstream make or break race for me, did 1 slot and qualified 15th, lost the slipstream after pitting and just trundled around in 15th ahead of a Suzuki Swift that was about 2 seconds slower on the straight and only made it up by abusing the wall every lap, which I avoided.

Race 2 I qualified 14th which sounds better but there was only 14 people so... oops. Jaguar also in 13th so we made a pre-race pact to pit together and stick together. Worked really well, and we had a fantastic race crawling through the field, bumpdrafting our way to P7 for me, and P10 for him after being killed by a dive happy Genesis near the end of the race. Jaguar is quite weak here so P7 with 219 points is good enough for me.

Looks amazing, love to see McLaren go back to this livery.
Going to have spend some time this week make a new livery or run my red 5 Williams
I should probably run a Williams, as I’m likely to be dead last.
Can’t drive that car flat out on a controller, so will just cruise around at the back in cockpit cam.
