I’m not sure it’s just that easy to copy a track over, SMS used their own Madness engine I believe, not sure what Codemasters is using. I think Unreal 4?

If I have 1 circuit wish/request for GRID Legends DLC then it would be Paul Ricard in France. And it’s not that difficult, they just have to knock on the office door of the Codemasters F1 team across the hallway. :D
I don't think it would be that simple take moto gp and ride 4 moto gp has paul richard race track but ride 4 doesn't and both games are made by the same developer.

GRID is on Codemasters’ in-house engine.

F1 studio is in a different town to GRID’s 😏

I know it's wishful thinking, but isn't this the demand in practically every racing game out there? The more tracks the better.
I fully agree that Grid has a unique identity and that translates to the tracks themselves. For example, Brands Hatch (done to death) is ultraboring in FM7, but thanks to beautiful skyboxes and lighting, and full reverse layouts, is very lively in GRID.
There is one game i know of that lets you run any track in reverse in practice mode and that's project cars 2 and yes i mean every single track in the game can be unofficially run in reverse and the game even keeps lap times.

PC3 tracks that I wish Codemasters could use: Bahrain, Zolder, José Carlos Pace (Brazil), BRNO, Rouen-Les-Essarts (this is a gem), Hockenheim (better than Silverstone), fake Monte Carlo (Azure), Zandvoort, Knockhill, and the California Highway.
Zolder: Yes! Because I’m Belgian and we do have other tracks than Spa. 😏 And on a more serious note, yeah I do think Zolder is a great circuit.

But from the tracks you listed I have to give a big shoutout to BRNO! Before Project CARS I never even heard about the track. But it’s an absolute gem and one of my all-time favorite tracks of any racing game.

As for other tracks in Project CARS, I absolutely adore all the historical tracks: Spa, Monza, Rouen, Hockenheimring, Silverstone and Le Mans I think are all the ones they ever did? And I would love to see more! The Sudschleife of the Nurburgring or the Osterring (historical Red Bull Ring). But, GRID is not the type of game for these tracks if we are honest.

What I do think would work great in GRID and what’s in Project CARS:
  • Dubai Autodrome - yet another really fun circuit with a lot of different layouts but it’s not very common in video games.
  • Portimao (Algarve) - also an amazing circuit with many layouts (and was also in GRID Autosport)
  • Sugo - great circuit
  • Zhuhai

I consider these last locations to be circuits with great flow, great visuals and they aren’t as overly popular in video games already (unlike Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Spa, Nurburgring and Suzuka just to name a few)

I don't mind if they bring over the few fictional tracks that pCARS has, Bannachbrea was really fun, the unlicensed Monaco circuit and Long Beach will fit into Grid style of tracks nicely. Long Beach was in Grid 1 too, maybe using pCARS track model might be easier than updating that old model.

Some classic tracks for the classic cars will be fun too. Like Hockenheim classic or Monza classic.

*Edit
I just notice the fireworks looks to be non stop throughout the race, it looks nice but way too much. Maybe change it to just appear at last lap will be less weird.

Cars shown in each class aren't complete. There are several videos showing cars which don't show up in this list. @PJTierney is the list still being finalized? I saw the Plymouth but it isn't mentioned yet. I assume the EACreatorNetwork hasn't handed out a version with all the cars, is that correct?

So far from what i seen the car list leaves a lot to be desired if you already have grid 2019.

:indiff:
I don’t know, I also own GRID 2019 and I’m rather happy with the car list so far. I‘m the spreadsheet guy that likes to compare stuff so I can easily pull out the following data:

Also know that not all these cars are confirmed and also that the list is incomplete. I pulled the data from the Codies announced cars as well as what I saw from YouTube gameplay videos. And at some point I didn‘t even bother to add cars I saw in videos anymore since the official car list announcement is close anyway. Edit - with new to franchise I mean that the cars are not in GRID Autosport or GRID 2019. So they might have been in GRID 1, 2 or the TOCA games.

FYI GRID 2019 launched with 66 unique cars (excluding the GRID Edition duplicates). GRID Legends is announced to include over 100 cars. That’s an increase in roughly 30-40% more cars than what GRID 2019 launched with, IMO not too bad.

The list is very varied and I just wonder how much nostalgia Codies and EA are going to bring back. If they cover the cars and tracks from PS1 era to now I would be very happy. A few tracks like Adelaide, Dijon Prenois and Surfers Paradise would be top notch as well as Castle Combe from Race Driver 3.

The latest build creators have access to isn’t the “review” build, not yet anyway. It’s primarily a Multiplayer Preview.
So it is indeed possible my most anticipated brand makes a return? A 405, a 406 or the 408 from Autosport? Please make it happen :)

There are quite a lot of new cars, the video that nobfung posted above did show a couple new cars in the class selection menu:

  • Ferrari F40 Competizione (Vintage GT)
  • Nissan 300ZX IMSA GTO (Vintage GT)
  • Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 Time Attack (Single car class)
  • Dodge Challenger Demon (Pro Muscle)
  • Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA (Trackday Performance)

I think a different multiplayer video there is a Porsche Taycan seen in the garage car selection screen for Porsche E-Performance class.

I think the only weird decision they made for the car list looks to be pre-order and deluxe edition bonus for me. Going by Steam store page, deluxe edition includes 2 exclusive cars that are included in Grid 2019 base game, VW Golf GTI TCR and Audi R8 1:1.

The pre order bonus includes 4 additional cars, Aston Martin GT4 and Koeniesegg Jesko from Grid 2019, new additions to Grid are Porsche 962C and Ginetta GT4. Cutting out the Porsche 962 makes the Vintage Prototype class looks like a Mazda 787B spec series.

I think those 6 cars are exclusive to those packs and not just early unlocks since the multipler videos shown so far don't have these cars included in the list.

Hmm could be, it’s very common for preview builds etc to not include any DLC cars.

But I wasn‘t sure yet if those pre-order cars are regular cars or GRID Edition version of cars, similar to how it was in GRID 2019. @PJTierney do you have any info on that?

I hope that is not the case. Those cars needs to be in this game from start. I can't buy it now (because of Horizon and GT7) and i hope i will be able to acquire them when buying at later date.

Well usually pre-order DLC becomes available for purchase a while after launch, that was the case with GRID 2019 as well. Also with other Codemaster titles (I remember a Mini and Escort in Dirt Rally for example).

Below are all the bonus cars (GRID Edition cars) from GRID 2019.

Look at the DLC column:
  • UE = ultimate edition car
  • PO = pre-order car
  • DLC = seperately purchasable car

Back in 2019, You got the Vantage GT4 as a pre-order bonus. But it was also part of the ultimate edition, together with the other 4 UE cars.

The Camaro SSX was a GameStop exclusive car according to this article: https://gamepreorders.com/grid
And then there is the Alfa 155 TS as well, I have no idea if that was some sort of special exclusive release either.
The Porsche you unlock just from playing the game by the way.

The game launched in October but 2 months later in december the Vantage GT4, Camaro SSX and also Alfa 155 TS became available as separate DLC, I think they were between 1 & 2 EUR per car. So if you never preordered GRID 2019 you could (and still can) get all the released content by buying the ultimate edition and then the 2 missing cars (Camaro SSX & 155 TS) separately.

So I would worry not if you can’t buy the game now but don’t want to miss out on any cars or bonuses. Currently it seems the DLC for GRID Legends are as follows:
  • pre-order bonus = Seneca & Ravenwest Double pack
  • deluxe edition bonus = Mechanic Pass + Voltz Pack + Post-launch pack 1/2/3/4

The only thing that is not available right after launch is the Seneca & Ravenwest Double pack. But I’m sure a few months after release this will become available as a payed DLC for GRID Legends.

Also at the rate prices of new games are going on sale only a few months after release, I would strongly advice to either pre-order the game so you can play on release date (if you’re eager to start playing it), or else wait until there is a sale (which is always the better option). The game launches Feb 25th so I would expect it will already be on a light sale by summer 2022 and then a deeper sale around Black Friday / Holiday later this year.

There is also a very likely chance that the game will come on Gamepass eventually (if I would be a Gamepass subscriber I wouldn’t even buy the game).

They will be available some time after launch, DiRT 5 did similar things with pre order cars but the pre order exclusive cars were less obvious if you miss them out than the ones Grid Legends chose. I remember it was a Ariel Nomad and Ford F150 Raptor but the base game included a different variant of those 2 cars.

Going back to the initial announcement on the different editions for pre-order, Seneca and Ravenwest packs for Aston GT4, Ginetta GT4, Porsche 962 and Koeniesegg Jesko is said to be "additional cars available for career events" which makes it sounds like early unlocks but they are unavailable in the previews so far makes it looks like exclusive to DLC.

The game will be available on Game Pass Ultimate a few months after release since Codemaster is part of EA now and Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play subscription.

I'm still thinking should I get it or just wait for it to pop up on game pass for me. I do like what I'm seeing so far, looks to have a decent amount of new content in it but I'm still unsure do I really want it on day 1. Slightly bored of FH5 and the next game I'm really looking forward is the new Kirby game that is coming at late March, got a nice slot/timing for Grid Legends actually.

Some car missing
Seems like a few cars got cut from Grid 2019:

  • Acura DPI (Prototype)
  • Dodge Challenger (Muscle)
  • Plymouth 'Cuda AAR (Muscle)

Muscle class with just 1 modern Camaro looks weird as hell when the other 3 cars are classic muscle cars. Also, I'm not sure why they still split the Ferrari 512BB as a single make class while there is a Group 5 car class with the Capri, M1 and 935.

I know it’s probably expected but has there been any mention if the game will feature the haptic/adaptive triggers on the PS5 version of the game? Can’t seem to find any mention of it anywhere unless I’ve missed something?

Classic Touring car 😍 Hope have more class 2’s cars

Seriously codemasters should make a dlc pack dedicated to 1998 and 1999 Lemans. Also Gt1 of the 90s with the Mclaren F1 GTR, Porsche 911 GT1(993), Lotus Esprint GT1, Ferrari F50 GT.

That would be a cracking dlc.
