So we still Have ferrari but it seems like they get rid of 599XX EVO from the GT Heritage class (now there is only Ford GT 2017) to be honest this is good change. This track focused Ferrari looked awkward near road going Ford GT.

Seems like Alfa Romeo and Lancia (=Stellantis brands) are absent as well? Same stuff that happened to FH5 seems to happen here. And those brands were in GRID 2019.

Meanwhile, GT7 is happily adding more Alfa Romeo cars that weren’t in GT Sport…

There is Lancia Stratos in this long gameplay.

in that same long gameplay video during the race at Bathurst, AI was spotted using Alfa Romeo 155 as well.

Both Stellantis brands are here at these gameplay but both Lancia Stratos and the Alfa Romeo 155 was not listed in the official car list yet. I hope it is not the same situation with FH5.

58:00 Dubai
1:09:46 Havana
1:18:00 Mount Panorama
1:29:46 San Francisco

Thanks for those time indexes! Havana & San Francisco I already know from the previous game so I skipped those ones.
Dubai looked great but it was a short track so not so much yet revealed about the city.
Mount Panorama looked better than I expected, the skybox and the lighting effects look stellar in this game.

Aah great news! The more they appear in other franchises the better! But indeed let’s hope cleaning up the AI car list isn’t part of the final touches the devs still need to do before release.

I am curious how the graphics compare between GRID 2019 & Legends but I could not find such a comparison video. If anyone stumbles upon one, please share. I assume all the shared assets (like cars and tracks) between both games are the exact same and the graphical polish / updates done to Legends is mostly in the department of the lighting engine, better effects such as reflections, debris etc.
From what I can see myself in a quick glance I think the Legends colour palette looks a bit more rich where in 2019 it looks a little more watered down. But that could very well just be dependent on the track.

Dubai is a returning track from Grid 2 and Grid Autosport, I don't think they show much of the city even at full layout. I recognised the same construction site the race starts at.

Most of the new content looks to be returning content from previous games, I think only Moscow, London and Strada Alpina are the brand new content. Really happy to see Yokohama docks from Grid 1 came back.

The GRID series is the only one I know of that does it.

Red Bull Ring, Silverstone and Sepang had reverse layouts in previous games, and if you go back far enough even Spa had one too.
Im starting to remember now like Grid autosport. Crazy how I forgot this.

Aah ok, I never played any of the previous GRID or TOCA games. GRID 2019 on Xbox was my first game, I did get GRID Autosport for my iPhone/iPad since I heard many good things about it but didn’t really play it. So for me anything that wasn’t in GRID 2019 will feel new for the series.

But since you mention Dubai was also in Autosport, I’ll download the app again on my iPad to check out the track.
It has a reverse layout :mischievous:
Was to be expected since almost every real world circuit from GRID 2019 seems to have reverse layouts as well. 😄
Personally the serious racer in me isn’t that much a fan of doing this, it feels bizarre. Real life (or even fictional) circuits are designed with a certain flow to them, driving it in reverse turns all this stuff upside down. 😅
But for the sake of it, I’m more than fine if GRID is the only game that keeps doing this and it means more track layout variety which is always great for the longevity of the game, so bring it on!

Talking about tracks, since Indianapolis was found in achievements, the only 2 unconfirmed tracks from 2019 are then Silverstone and Red Bull Ring. Any word on these if they return? 😁
What I really liked in GRID 2019 is actually the 3rd and smallest layout of the Red Bull Ring, the North loop / short loop AKA club circuit. It‘s a surprisingly fun little loop for lower power cars and most other games that do license the Red bull Ring only focus on the GP and National layouts.

I think Chicago listed the trailer is probably the same one in Autosport too. These are fun city tracks the games had and I'm glad to see them returning this time. They looks much better with the new visual too.

I do hope they will include more licensed tracks as well.

Yeah the new visuals are impressive, certainly for tracks coming from the older GRID games.

I just had a look at the track list for GRID Autosport mobile (a port done by Feral Interactive), it includes everything from the original 2014 GRID Autosport plus all its DLC: https://www.feralinteractive.com/en/mobile-games/gridautosport/cars-tracks/ For the GRID fans probably nothing new, for me pretty exciting stuff as there are some really interesting locations in there.
I’ve played dozens of racing games on PS3/PS4/Xbox One/Series X and I’ve never seen real life circuits like Mont Tremblant, Jarama and Istanbul in any other racing game. And yes I have all 3 Project CARS games which on itself already have tons of circuits you don’t find anywhere else. And PC1/2/3 is also the reason Donington Park is not mentioned with those other 3 circuits. ☺️

Since I own Autosport mobile maybe I should just give it some more playtime. I just reinstalled the app and I saw I previously only did a few career races. 😅 But, I also want to finish all career races in GRID 2019 first before Legends arrives. Back in 2019 I played about 30% of the campaign but then dropped the game. Somewhere in 2021 I did complete the campaign and dabbed a little bit into season 1 (about 30%). So that‘s just over 2,5 seasons left, that should be doable in 2 weeks.
Perhaps other games just don't ask!
I‘m sure using the reverse layout of a circuit does bring extra work for the developers as well as now you also need to make sure racing the track in reverse works (in regards to performance, draw distances, maybe even more detailed geometry and such). I don’t think for any semi-serious racing game the demand from players is high to be able to race these circuits in reverse. For more arcade games, it does make sense, especially if the total track locations is low.

Although the racing experience from racing in reverse is different, it never feels like a proper new circuit to me. In fact it always feels like “the lesser version of a certain layout”. Gran Turismo uses a lot of reverse layouts as well but only for their own original circuits. And even there I don’t like it much. I consider Dragon Trail and Lago Maggiore the best new original tracks that came with GT Sport but even for these fantasy tracks I don‘t really care much for the reverse versions. I much rather see alternative layouts of the same location. Take Circuit de Catalunya in GT Sport for example, the only layout included is the full GP circuit. (Not that I expect them to do so but) instead of adding a reverse variation of that, I would much rather see the shorter layouts like the National and Club circuits added instead. (https://www.racingcircuits.info/europe/spain/circuit-de-barcelona-catalunya.html#.YgJ-Li_TWfA). Especially the Club version is great for slower less powerful cars.

But kudos where kudos are due, where Polyphony takes the development shortcut and only adds 1 Barcelona layout, I can only applaud Codemasters for always adding about all different layouts to a real life circuit in Grid. For Silverstone they even added the 2009 layout in GRID 2019! 🙏🙏🙏 Now I have seen that layout before in a game where it was called “The Bridge” and I believe in that game I could also drive it in reverse (not 100% sure, this has been many years ago). I think that must have been FM5, GT5 or something like that.

I am looking forward to this game later on this year. WHen the excitement of GT& & ACC starts wear down. Right now is a good time to be a fan of racing games. There are a lot of good choices coming down the line in a few weeks

DLC track maybe choose 4 from Autosport’s Track list??

Yas marina circuit
Spa francorchamps
Intercity Istunbal park
Hockenheimring
Donington park
Circuito de jarama
Circuit mont Tremblant

CALIFORNIA
Hong Kong
COTE D’AZUR
DETROIT
WASHINGTON

In that video it says work in progress?

I start to worry when a game is 2 weeks way and it still says WIP don't games go gold atleast 2 weeks before release?

That new horizon game want gold a few weeks ago and that's coming out on february 18

It's just a standard disclaimer. Footage gets captured in different times of development and games going gold doesn't mean anything anymore with huge day one patches.

Preview/Press builds like the ones we've been seeing are typically based previous, older versions of the game. As such, there may be missing features and/or some bugs that have been fixed in the actual retail build, but they can't show stuff from it since it's still actively being worked on.

"Work in Progress" is basically a disclaimer stating that what we're watching isn't the actual final product, even though the retail version of the game will probably be overall indistinguishable from the "work in progress" versions we've seen up to this point.

Opel is part of Stellantis too and it's represented too. Astra V8. Citroën, Fiat and Peugeot are still missing.....Hope at least the 408 from the Brazilian stockcar makes it back. Icing on the cake would-be a 406.

I’m actually quite impressed by the track list tbh. Compared to GRID 2019 (and all its DLC) the only locations possibly missing are indeed Silverstone, Red Bull Ring and Indianapolis. But we already have 7 new ones announced :

  • 4 new city locations : Chicago, Dubai, Moskow and London
  • 2 new fantasy circuits: Strada Alpina & Yokohama Docks
  • 1 new real life circuit : Mount Panorama

From the little footage I’ve seen, the gameplay on Alpina, Yokohama, Chicago and Moskow looked like great fun. For Dubai I only saw the promo screenshot but it looks great as well. I was less impressed with London and I’m neutral on Mount Panorama since i already raced on it in many other games. But I’m still curious how it will feel on a more arcade game like GRID Legends.

One thing that especially excites me about GRID Legends is that ALL 5 of the city locations from GRID 2019 return (Barcelona, Havana, Paris, San Francisco & Shanghai) plus we get 4 new ones! Earlier this evening I booted up GRID 2019 again and the city circuits are hands down the most fun races in this game. I was also absolutely impressed (GRID 2019) with how good the handling and rumble feedback is on a controller (Xbox Series X) and how great the sound is. These cars sound and feel very powerful.

When I saw GRID Legends announced months ago I LOL’ed, the game looked like a cheap crash-grab based on GRID 2019. And it might still be that. But the new tracks, the snow environment, the new modes and yeah even the goofy story with even goofier live action scenes all combined with some solid re-impressions of GRID 2019 after not having played it for many months made me decide to preorder it.

I also have GT7 on pre-order (and look forward to that WAY more) but I think I can handle both even though the release dates are super close and I plan to sink a LOT of time in GT7. Between now and the release of Ubisoft’s Avatar game I don’t have anything on my radar anyway apart from FH5 DLC expansions and playing some more of my backlog so this can fit in I suppose. And instead of impatiently waiting for March 4th for the GT7 release, now that‘s 1 week earlier for GRID Legends. 😎
Chicago and Dubai was in Grid 2 and Autosport.
Yokohama Docks was in Race Driver Grid.
Mount Panorama was in Race Driver Grid, Grid 2 and Autosport.

Just because they weren't in Grid 2019 doesn't make them new.

Also, we're still missing a couple of city tracks (Washington and Miami) and point-to-point sprint tracks (Mt Haruna, California Big Sur, Hong Kong and Cote d'Azur).

Cars and real life tracks I can understand why they went missing between games (licensing), but for the fictional tracks they all should return with every game IMO. I give Codies a lot of stick for a lot of things but their city & sprint track designs are among the best in the business and I'm always a bit sad when some of them doesn't return (or comes back as paid DLC grrr).

I guess they will be following the Grid 2019 and Dirt 5 DLC method, cars and new career events will be paid content while tracks will added in for free.

I do hope those city tracks come back through updates.

I think there is a possibility we already know all different locations. I saw mentioned here and on Reddit that there are 22 locations and 130 layouts. Is there any official mention of those 22 locations since I don’t find them.

What I assume we have so far is the following 21 locations and the number of layouts per location, based on previous games:

city
Barcelona (7)
Havana (7)
San Fansisco (6)
Shangai (6)
Paris (6)
Dubai (6)
Chicago (6)
London (presumably 6, already 3 seen in videos)
Moskow (presumably 6, already 4 seen in videos)

circuit (including drift)
Brands Hatch (6, including the 2 drift circuits from Autosport)
Indianapolis (8)
Sepang (6)
Sydney (8)
Zhejang (6)
Suzuka (6)
Mount Panorama (2)
Crescent (5)
Okutama GP (6, including 2 drift circuits)
Yokohama Docks (6)
Strada Alpina (presumably 8, including 2 drift circuits)

point to point
Okatama Sprint (6)

I think all the above is very realistic to at least be included, that’s 21 locations and 129 tracks. That 130 number could easily be reached by the following:
  • By adding another layout on an existing circuit. For example like they did with Barcelona, that location had 6 layouts in Autosport and a 7th was added in GRID 2019.
  • By adding more drift layouts, Autosport had 5 drift locations for 10 layouts in total (normal and reverse). Legends so far in the above list only has 3 drift locations (6 layouts). Or alternatively, they allow drifting on some selected normal racing layouts as well.

So where is the 22th location then? Well maybe Strada Alpina is split in 2 locations similar to how Okutama is split into a GP and a point to point location, thus counts as two.

What is then missing from GRID 2019?
Silverstone (8)
Red Bull Ring (6)
I see only a small chance that either one of them will return for Legends but not both, at least not for the base game. If both would be included then the total number of layouts would be already at 143 and I’m sure the advertising and promotion of the game would then mention ‘over 140 layouts’ instead of 130.

No red bull ring and silverstone makes me sad... I know this is probably license issues, but damn... i love red bull ring :(
Yeah me too, I’ve been playing a bit more GRID 2019 now to finish off the seasonal content and I actually started to like Red Bull Ring in reverse (blasphemy! 😂). Especially the first section with the left turn and the trees… it gives some Gran Turismo Trial Mountain vibes. Not that these sections are similar in layout, just the fact that it’s counter clockwise and has some nice trees near the track.

Would indeed be sad to see it left out. Especially since it was added to GRID 2019 as DLC. The other DLC tracks (and many of the DLC cars) from 2019 already return for Legends so let’s hope RBR returns as well. It’s still possible, that would then be 22 locations and 135 locations in total (and Silverstone would be left out).
