As speculated last night, PD have updated "some" (?) of the FFB. Their notes are a bit cryptic.

Hey Claude , Praiano’s tune for the GT-R calls for race hards . But you have us using race mediums. Is that correct ? You have to reduce power greatly to get to 730pp with R/M .Just checking 👌

Great turnout today with 10 on the grid and also to see different strategies in play. Results and standings attached.

Next week we are back in the GR2 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500 '16 which we will take to Spa. 14 Laps on RS/RM. Fuel and Tyre multipliers to follow

Here's hoping that the people at PD will sort out the connectivity issues in the lobbies.

Whoever thinks the morning Sport drivers are a bit more tame than at other times of the day are wrong. Not true, and I have the receipts.

Fortunately, the ones that I have encountered were just as much of a danger to themselves as to anyone else. He he he he!

Sunday 30 Min Event

19th June 10:00 ET, 15:00 UK
. This race will take place in during our usual Sunday racing. Lobby name GRC

We will race the GR2 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500 '16 @ Spa for 14 laps.
The tyre multiplier is x6 and the fuel is x5. We start with a full tank.
Tyres for the race are RS and RM. Both sets of tyres must be used for the race, qualification tyre is open choice.
Practise/Qualification for 15 minutes. 5 min break before race.
We will use added weight again. Same weights as last week.

Other Lobby Settings:
Preset Weather, S01 Dry Cloudless and Pleasant, Afternoon
BOP OFF
Tuning Prohibited

Grid Start
Slipstream Weak
Shortcut Penalty Weak
Pit Lane Cutting Penalty On
Flag Rules On

PP (without alteration to weight)

With RS tyres: PP 863.33
With RM tyres: PP 852.12

If you do not have these numbers add a new settings sheet. Please, if possible, have your car at the correct PP before lobby opens

On another note. Today I completely reinstalled GT7. There is a real improvement to the quickness of moving through the menus and creating a lobby. I actually did a fresh install of the PS operating system as well. The only game I now have running is GT7. I have been googling about lag/latency etc. I would recommend, for those who are comfortable with doing that, to do so. Even just reinstalling the game. You will not lose any of your game progress. (You will lose any replays that have not been shared). When you do a fresh install of GT7 (takes about 4 hours to download) your game data will automatically download.

I was also not aware that every three months (which is the recommended time frame) the database should be rebuilt. This is because of updates etc. This is easy enough to do. Basically by doing this your 'files' get sorted out so the console can find them easier. This can help with numerous issues. The only files that get deleted are corrupted ones. To do this start PS in safe mode (hold down the power button until you have heard 2 beeps, about 7 seconds, connect a controller with a cable to a USB port then select 'rebuild database'

If I’m not around this evening it’s because I’m part of ~164,000 that lost power Tuesday afternoon. Possibly not back until Friday at some point. Sleeping in 98 degree weather isn’t fun.

Steve and I were just talking about ways we might improve the online experience in our lobbies, specifically with regard to the horrible lag we often see. Don’t know how much we can influence, but here are a couple of suggestions. I have no idea if these will help, but it can’t hurt to try. Steve also has some ideas about DNS settings that he will discuss during the next party chat.

For PS5 users, it may help if everyone has Video Output set to Prioritize Frame Rate. This is found in the GT7 Options menu.

The other thing to try in the Options menu would be to regularly clear the temp data in the Network menu.

As Eric said, there is another thing that we can also try that 'might' help us with the lagging issue and that is to all use the same DNS setting. This is very easy to do. I was going to suggest this in party chat tomorrow but probably best to post this now. Some of you guys will already know how to do this. The DNS setting we wil try is the Google one.

For guys that do not know how to do this I will try and explain.

On PS go to 'Settings' and then select 'Network' Next select 'Set Up Internet Connection' Here we have a choice of 'Use WiFi' or 'Use Lan Cable' Select the one you are using and then select 'Custom'

If on WiFi you now have to choose your Wifi and enter your password.

After that for both WiFi and Lan next choice is 'IP Address Settings' keep this at 'Automatic'
'DHCP Host Name' keep this at 'Do Not Specify'
'DNS Settings' select 'Manual'
'Primary DNS' (this is where we change the DNS) You will probably see 0.0.0.0 Delete these by using the X in bottom left hand corner. Then enter 8.8.8.8 Select 'Done' Then highlight and enter 'Secondary DNS' here we enter 8.8.4.4 Click 'Done' and then 'Next

'MTU Settings' keep at Automatic
'Proxy Server' keep at 'Do Not Use'

Then 'Test Internet Connection'

Any problems I will help with in party tomorrow

I would just mention that here in the States, the Google DNS's are different. USA Google DNS: 1.0.0.1 and 1.1.1.1 These happen to be the fastest (free) DNS service I've found (tested all I could find). Unfortunately I've got to stick with these as I've got a PiHole sitting between the router (also highly modified) and all my devices. If I make a change, I got to change settings in my router and PiHole... which will break my internet for everything else... a pain in the arse.

But that might not be an issue for you guys, as I've got an all day commitment Saturday, so I won't be there anyway. :-)

I use openDNS in my router because they have other services that help make using other devices than consoles safer.

Those are CloudFlare free DNS numbers. CloudFlare is a technology partner to Google. I was looking at CloudFlare but decided Google might be the better option because of the following review

'In terms of speed, Google Public DNS outperforms Cloudflare. This is because of several things, including global coverage, more servers, and a shared cache'

This is just to try and see if we can find a way that might help us improve the lagging Chris. I do not know if it will help or not.

Having one person on a different DNS would not make a real difference

I am just trying to find something that might help us.

Maybe you could let your acquaintances at PD know Mastr that people are trying to find their own solutions to the awful situation with lagging in the lobbies because of their complete incompetence and also their total disregard to it. Our group and many other groups have this problem with the lobbies. Yes, when we all get on PS5's it may well sort the situation out but that could be a while because of supply etc. In the meantime it leaves a lot of loyal GT fans who have paid good money to race together totally pissed. Not to mention all the other problems with the lobbies.

Maybe someone with deep pckets will see an opportunity here to stike while the iron is hot and create a racing game that will make PD regret their attitude towards the GT community.

Hah! Ya know, there was a little voice in the back of my head that said to me, as I was writing my response, these might be Cloudfare" Damn, it sucks to get old and start loosing one's mind... Thanks for the correction Steve! And I apologize for the confusion.
