If any of you are lucky enough to win the R26B-787B crate engine from the "Wheel of Misfortune", I highly recommend you install it into the RX-7 Spirit R '02. The car handles well & fuel mileage is high. I've had this engine for a while & finally did the swap & won the 700 & even 800 PP events fairly easily. I only managed a 2nd at the 600 PP at Tokyo only because to get to that setting I had to make drastic suspension changes & therefore lost some stability & handling. Here's my 700 PP set-up that can also be used in 800 PP events.

LOL,, may as well be speaking in Cantonese for some/many of we elders. To be well versed on what goes on with the internet a guy or gal must first and foremost BE INTERESED. I just get my roll around office type chair (with lumbar support mind you!) situated in front of my aging computer desk (with bolted in the OUT position keyboard tray), shift into position and screw down my G29, reposition my foot pedals then gleefully reach up push the 'ON' dohickey that makes lights come on on my PS4,, insert the dongle thang that powers my NEW Turtle Beach headset, grab a new cup of coffee and stare at the 24" monitor until I can select either GTSport or GT7 and do so,,,,,,, it works or it doesn't. KISS,, that's my moto. All that other mumbo jumbo I'll leave to you smart guys,, which now that I think about it is MOST LIKELY why I am always at the rear of the pack and often times do not finish in the allotted time  HA!! Will wonders never cease :) Anyway, back to why I logged in,, how many Mark Knopfler fans we got in the Geezer club? I'm watching this one now and there are many new things I had not heard before. It was recorded back in '19 but I just this eve found it and I am as always BLOWN AWAY!!

I could listen / watch Mark Knopfler play / sing for hours. Amazing talent.

Last night during the Geezer Club races I mentioned that I had raced real cars. For anyone interested here are my racers. The pale green Mini was a clapped out Mini Cooper that I ice raced for one season. The #200 Mini Cooper S I raced only at Mosport for two seasons. The Dodge Colt #111 I raced for two seasons at Mosport, Shannonville (in Ontario) and Sanair in Quebec. The Honda #11 I raced two seasons at Mosport, Shannonville, Watkins Glen (short course notice the blue guardrail) and Mid Ohio (about to pass the Triumph).

This short video is the first 15 minutes of my very last race in August 1984 in my showroom stock 1983 Honda Civic. Then I hung up my helmet.

What class of racing were those cars? All the same?

Luiz, since the last update has addressed some of our lobby concerns, I suggest that we put boost on strong for today’s races to see if that has also been fixed. Also, the refueling rate is now adjustable, so you might want to increase that so we don’t have the eye dropper guy refueling our cars.

Sorry if this is all gonna sound like I'm a Fanatec shill.

I've been a long time Fanatec user. Worked my way through 3 wheelbases, and a number of wheels, and a couple of pedal sets (not counting the logitechs and hori I ran on PS2&3). Never been a PC racer.

With that experience, I thought I'd post some unsolicited recommendations with the caveat "Buy once, cry once."

Wheelbase: Eyeing the Podium? Don't bother. The CSL DD is the much wiser choice in my opinion. I always have my Podium turned way down to a more sane 5-10nm; same sweet spot as the CSL DD. In fact, I'm seriously thinking about selling off the Podium and getting the CSL DD with the boost kit. There is a point, where "more" is not better... it just hurts. DD wheelbases feel more real to me, and permit me to catch more slides than I ever could on the old belt drive bases. I'd buy the naked 8nm $599 CSL DD (PS compatible, there is also an xbox/pc version). Doesn't come with pedals

Pedals: Most folks know that good pedals will make you faster, more so than any other piece of kit. Go strait to the V3's or the inverted if your pockets are deep enough. Compared to my old CSL Elite pedals (the old black ones), the V3s were night and day. Within a couple days of acclimation, I was killing all my old times. Don't bother with the $80 damper thingy for your brakes, although some run it on the throttle. The brake performance kit is worth the $20.

Rims/wheels: I've owned several wheels, and even though its ugly as hell, the McLaren GT3 wheel is my favorite and goto. Its very comfortable, a little bigger than the Formula rims which is nice, and has rubberized grips (which also feel great), so gloves are not necessary-- unlike anything with Alcantera where one must use gloves for a firm grip, and to prevent destruction to the Alcantera over time. If you're an F1 guy then pick up one of the F1 rims later. You can also find GT7 specific wheels on ebay and facebook for sale, if you want the full functionality of GT7. Also, the cheaper CSL round wheels work very well, and realistically is all you need if you are only going to play on console. If you need a larger diameter round rim, then the BMW GT2 or Porsche RS rims are great. I have the Porsche RS which I use for rally games.

Other accessories:
Handbrake: I also play rally games, so I sprung for the hand brake. I really enjoy it, and the many ways it can be fitted to a sim cockpit.
Shifter: I'm a flappy paddle guy, and have no use for a realistic shifter and all that heel-toe stuff. However, if you enjoy the feel and function of rowing through the gears of a well made shifter, Fanatec has you covered, oh and it can also be easily configured into a sequential shifter, if that's your bag.
.
Others: There are also some various fanatec mounts that permit desktop racing that all work as intended. But nuthin' beats a dedicated cockpit/rig. Something made from 8020 aluminum extrusion is great, because it can be tailored to fit perfectly, and holds all the gear rock solid. I can race comfortably in mine for hours. And ya don't "need" one of those monster size 8020 rigs. My modest Sim-Lab GT Evo can more than handle my Podium wheelbase without flexing or moving around. Can't get it here in USA anymore, but there are some similar sized ones available here in the States for $400-$600.

Sorry so long. Rambled enough. Ciao
Chris
