GT 7 Servers are still down...

At a guess, what would take them so long. do you think they are reverting the changes they made that have caused an uproar? I cant see what else the could be doing. I've been playing this game for a week now an nothing seems broken enough for them to take this amount of time. I have a feeling they have seen the many angry mobs of fans after releasing the patch notes about patch 1.07 and are overhauling it due to poor reception.
While I'd like that to be true, nothing in PD's history indicates that they'd react that quickly and forcefully to the initial reaction of the player base.

With a game as big and complex as GT7 its fairly easy to introduce changes that create unintended cascading effects, if you're not careful - see last weeks patch that introduced the wrong tires being installed in license tests and mission challenges.

Yeah I've been waiting for them to fix that, I have gold on all licences other than the dirt/ rally tests.

Btw for anyone interested you can actually access your garage and use you own cars in arcade mode

Yeah, how does you're ps4 dualsense work, there, happy Gilmore ?

Haha how's that 800 dollar wheel feel on a **** console of yesteryear with no ray tracing and the inability to play the current Gen titles? Your washed up version doesn't hold up, peasant.
My PS5 controller has dual sense what is your point ??

I could find no way of getting to my garage.

Even worse, you can't get credits from any race you do which is offline. I've been 12 lap race and was hoping to at least get credits but did not.

The payouts and events are all set server side, they even have a bunch of events sitting on the server that nobody but Jimmy Fallon can access. If they wanted to change those, they wouldn't need to touch the patch that actually sits on our hard drives/SSDs.

No, the problem is with whatever data they put into that, and probably isn't something they can fix without creating another patch. It must be such a severe bug that would force them to not even let people play the game. It might delete your entire save data or just crash every minute.

Servers still down, but at least PD are fixing things that need fixing (and apparently breaking things too :)). Besides the whole credit controversy it is great to see PD responding so quickly to issues with GT7. By comparison how are the updates coming along for ACC next gen?

Edit: ACC next gen updates 23 March.

Not thats it's much extra, but I was at least able to access my garage in time trial mode. After selecting one of the default cars and enteing the track, you can then you click on "settings", then "change car" from there, and your garage cars will appear.

Okay, so select a default car from the menu, and a track and click enter. Then when you get to the menu right before you start the race, click settings and just above car settings it should say change car. Click it and you will gain access to you garage and all of you vehicles.

you got there just before me haha

An absolute legend on Reddit:

Trash_Pandacute: "Ok, hear me out. This is the new meta: Get a $15/hr job, that should bring home about $10/hour after taxes. That's enough to buy 1m credits.

Fisherman's Ranch: 850,000 cr/hr

McDonald's: 1,000,000 cr/hr

Bonus: You can steal some of those plastic trays from McD's to put under your rear tires so you can simulate GT7's physics for practice."

Guys, would this work with a custom race or only for time trial?

I can see you're gonna be around on the forum for a long time.

Posts like this make me sad the "banned" thread is gone.

They could have broke something major like saves or have data corruption on their servers.

Like they already unintentionally screwed up tires with the last patch.

I've only tried for time trial so not sure. You can also only select the tires you have purchased in tune up shop so don't go for rain if you haven't got wet tires for that specific car.

You're absolutely ****ing right, why does it need to be online only?
I don't see why the game can't be played and progressed through offline, then it simply saves all that progress to the server once it reconnects. I could've earned my 850k credits per hour all day long today lol. And to prevent any hacking, that reconnection or that online save could have some sort of validation process.

Exactly, we should petition PD

HoldMyAppleJuice: "Yesterday Kaz tweeted "There was another earthquake in Japan (Fukushima). We don't know the precise extent of overall damage across Japan yet, but at this point in time our Polyphony Tokyo Studio and our servers are safe."

It must have been 1.07 on the Richter scale..."
The community is in shambles. Even worse, nobody remembers how to make cars turn in GT Sport so even the streamers are running into wall after wall.

You’re essentially only ever saving your progress on the servers. Never on the console and for offline play you’re only using a read-only copy of the save data. And there’s no way to upload any save data to the server. This way it’s impossible to ever modify the save data -ergo - it’s practically impossible to cheat. And they obviously don’t wanna take any chances.

It obviously could, but the way they've set this game up everything is on the server. So without the servers online, there is no game. No event data. No car prices. It's not on the disc. It's all pulled live from the servers.

That's why patching the game to change it, if they even wanted to, wouldn't be easy.

BS. I paid for this game. I didn't pay 99 cents or 3.99 for some nonsense timewaster on my phone. I paid $80 for a serious time waster. What's the point of using a console if the console doesn't allow you to play the game. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to play the game that I paid for if there is not an internet connection, or servers working. If I pay for a book, I own the book. Not the intellectual rights to the book, but the right to read the book. I should be able to read it anytime I want.
Oh, and I also paid for a PS+ for this. I assume we'll get a refund for that? Yeah, right. I have very little respect for software engineers and their methods. Try this; do it right the first time and you won't have to update, then update again to fix the bugs, then update again to fix the bugs again, repeat, over and over. I have operated nuclear power plants, and I have flown airplanes, two fields where making mistakes means go find another career in a different field. Get it right the first time.

Exactly, I like your mentality. What we need in these studios is leader with the mindset of a leader, not a businessman.

They could at least have the livery up, or the photo mode... This online only thing is BS. Also let me take this moment to say showing sold out cars in the used car, and legends lots is dumb... just replace it with something else. Rotating new cars in quicker would be a nice touch as well. Then being raked over the coals like in a real life stealership is a bit annoying... I play games to have fun, and enjoy the escape from RL... instead I'm greeted with 300k honda civics from the 90's. I guess that's my 2 cents on it.

OMG! It's so annoying seeing cars sold out! Is that to get us to buy them before they're snatched up? How many hours do I have to play to even afford a legendary car, let alone buy regular cars, tune-up regular cars, and buy things to design my regular cars like installing a wide body or simply buying paint? The game feels like a lot of work when I just want to have fun.

You should probably stick to what you know, or maybe gain a bit more respect for them. In software engineering you can hardly ever get it right the first time. Each build goes through hundreds of iterations to get to where it's at, and even then it's not even perfect. Even when you think it's perfect, something will inevitably go wrong on launch no matter how many times you tested it previously. When you fix the error causing it to go wrong, it could potentially throw errors further downstream.

With that being said, it's baffling that just a maintenence update has taken them long to figure out.
