GT 7 Servers are still down...

OMG! It's so annoying seeing cars sold out! Is that to get us to buy them before they're snatched up? How many hours do I have to play to even afford a legendary car, let alone buy regular cars, tune-up regular cars, and buy things to design my regular cars like installing a wide body or simply buying paint? The game feels like a lot of work when I just want to have fun.
It doesn't make much sense unless there is a limited number of specific cars and they open a market to sell cars... I'd like to get some credits for the cars I have duplicates of. got to pay 100+ credits for them, but if I get a duplicate I cna only delete it.... I guess I shouldn't have removed sport from my console so fast... maybe I'll knock the dust off of my PS3.... lol

You should probably stick to what you know, or maybe gain a bit more respect for them. In software engineering you can hardly ever get it right the first time. Each build goes through hundreds of iterations to get to where it's at, and even then it's not even perfect. Even when you think it's perfect, something will inevitably go wrong on launch no matter how many times you tested it previously. When you fix the error causing it to go wrong, it could potentially throw errors further downstream.

With that being said, it's baffling that just a maintenence update has taken them long to figure out.
Yea, but they also have hundreds of people that worked on the game, I get an indie developer ****ing up, but this is ****ing PD and Sony, this really should not be happening

I'm thinking either someone screwed up big time, or there's unforseen factors in play. Like I said, it's baffling a patch/maintenence update would take this long to carry out.

It hasn't. They've clearly said the issue is with the patch file they put out. The "maintenance" is just to keep the game locked down whilst they figure it out, and create a new patch.

Obviously whatever bug they found in the patch was so severe they couldn't just leave the game up and let people deal with whatever it is, like the bugs in the last patch. It must be game breaking, of some sort.

The amount of people who have never experienced a live service game before 🤣 you think 1 day is bad? 🤣 “omg PD is scamming us they did this on purpose as it’s outside of the refund window” 🤣🤣 some live service games have gone down for weeks at times rendering every single piece of content unplayable. Yet some of you are behaving like a unplanned extra maintenance due to the discovery of a critical problem with the patch is the end of the world it’s hilarious. If they decided not to run extra maintenance and let this critical error stay as we play and potentially break our games and lose all our progress etc How would you react then? some annoying maintenance is definitely preferable to a potiential bug ruining a lot more than just your ability to play for one day.
fanbois will fanboi I guess.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense to me. Maybe it just deletes something, idk

We're now 14-15 hours since any more tweets or announcements of any sort. The least they could do is give us a status update on the issue at hand...

For my duplicates i do widebody. Cus it cant be undone

I'm just wondering what the compensation will be. Two million credits? A real GT-R? Maidens for everyone? One can only hope!
I'll take a nice waifu or two. Time to catch up on some anime

Lol, Used car dealership is bonafide trash in this game
Each day 1-2 cars in the dealership swap out, while you get ferraris and porsches you already have appear because you haf to do those missions in a menu book.

Worst part, Cafe could be cool as a place that "serves" offline missions you could take for payout bonuses and every week or so they update it with a mew "special" that gives you a crap ton of money and tickets

"Win against a race of Gr. 1 cars in a non gr. 1 car in custom race" or make it it's own race or something.

I don't care if some missioms follow a template with crap swapped out. It would be better than what we have currently

All I can think of is that we have waited over 5 years for this disaster and I gave them $90.00 for it. Then they want to remove any normal means of obtaining a 20 million dollar car without paying them real cash in the form of $40.00. It’s really leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm as disappointed as anyone else that we can't play the game that we bought. But, in fairness, we all knew before we bought this game that you could not play it offline.

This might be a nice opportunity for some to jump onto Project Cars 2 because it's a phenomenal game and you can play it offline.
Ha this is just what I have been doing today. Still miss 3 trophy's to complete the game. (Need about 20 more acolades)

I don't see why the game can't be played and progressed through offline, then it simply saves all that progress to the server once it reconnects. I could've earned my 850k credits per hour all day long today lol. And to prevent any hacking, that reconnection or that online save could have some sort of validation process.
It's not that simple, unfortunately. While there are ways to try to avoid tampering of the saves, the reality is that whatever is digitally signed by the server is the only thing they can really trust server-side.

Any security measures they can add to the game when running offline could be worked around, specially on PS4 which is jailbroken. I'm sure someone with enough free time would be able to attach a debugger to skip whatever integrity hash or digital signature check the saves have when loading and make the local game believe a tampered save is actually valid, or change stuff directly in memory (unlimited credits, no more grinding, maybe ). If they would allow you to then continue playing offline, overwrite that tampered save with a valid one and then the server would just accept it, you can see the issue... The way they implemented it, everything happens server-side, so no local tampering is possible.

They could at least have the livery up, or the photo mode... This online only thing is BS. Also let me take this moment to say showing sold out cars in the used car, and legends lots is dumb... just replace it with something else. Rotating new cars in quicker would be a nice touch as well. Then being raked over the coals like in a real life stealership is a bit annoying... I play games to have fun, and enjoy the escape from RL... instead I'm greeted with 300k honda civics from the 90's. I guess that's my 2 cents on it.
Showing the sold out cars is to make you fear missing out next time. Who knows when the cars cycle back around.
