So "maintenance underway" means what?

Glad i hammered this game when i first got it . done all 39 books and done most of the GR3/4 10 lap and 5 lap events , now im bored . got all licenses but the last special license . anybody know how or if there is endurance races if i unlock the special license ? I've also did a lot of grinding and managed to rack up about 7m in credits and have 88 cars , i only got the basic game and without pre order bonus cars (currys UK didnt give them out until you messaged on twitter) got 3 cars 3 days ago along with 100k but i can earn 100k in 1 race (well 97k) i find myself being bored and i dont use the online races as full of cheats and idiots . i still got 4m credits but not bought any 1m+ cars yet .not been on for a few days ,turned on this morning and boom not online , been trying all day with my day off and raining outside in UK lol

The amount of people who have never experienced a live service game before 🤣 you think 1 day is bad? 🤣 “omg PD is scamming us they did this on purpose as it’s outside of the refund window” 🤣🤣 some live service games have gone down for weeks at times rendering every single piece of content unplayable. Yet some of you are behaving like a unplanned extra maintenance due to the discovery of a critical problem with the patch is the end of the world it’s hilarious. If they decided not to run extra maintenance and let this critical error stay as we play and potentially break our games and lose all our progress etc How would you react then? some annoying maintenance is definitely preferable to a potiential bug ruining a lot more than just your ability to play for one day.

I shouldn't be paying 60 dollars to not be able to play a game though, and that fact Still stands. I'm tired of games releasing unfinished and people making excuses for it.
It doesn't specifically say the GT servers, and most people don't expect that they can't play most of a game because their online servers are down.

We should get a car of our choice up to GR.4 and 2 million credits for this inconvenience

That doesn't make it acceptable. They're charging 90 bucks for the CE and this does NOT need to be persistent online. That's a choice they made and we see little benefit, and much consequence. Every bit of annoyance is justified.

What determines the game is unfinished? You want to go back 15 years to a time where games never got updates and if they were “unfinished and had bugs that stopped you progressing” you couldn’t do a damn thing you could never finish that game because that bug could never be removed.
Just because games get updates after the game has been released due to bugs that weren’t found or they want to add more content etc means there unfinished?

Other games going down for longer doesn’t suddenly make this better?
Also, the issue here is that maintenance downtime shouldn’t leave you with a coaster (or whatever the digital equivalent of a coaster is). There is no good reason for GT7 needing to be online or to totally restrict single player content if it can’t connect.

Okay you want the game to go back to the PS3 days where a someone could modify saves and bring 10000hp cars into the game and ruin everyone else’s experience? This type of DRM while yes in annoying and while it frustrates me. It serves a purpose of making sure someone isn’t modifying game files. Basically every time you go on the game whilst online the servers are verifying your game if it detects modified files it bans you. It’s a security thing it’s why the PS4 and PS5 get those “system stability updates” every time the console updates anyone trying to make custom code and break into the OS has to start from scratch. The server verification system PD is using for GT is basically the same kind of thing.

okay but you will still have downloaded a patch that had a critical bug in it that could potential ruin the game for you making you start over for example or lose all your cars etc And you wouldn’t be able to do the install game without internet connection and stay offline to avoid downloading the patch as your save file would be one of a newer version of the game like version 1.02 and 1.06.

Look at how ****ed Cold War was. I would call that pretty damn unfinished and with a lot of the new games they're sadly following that example.
Except GT7 is not a live service game. It's 90% offline, single player.
Seperate save for offline and online, that's how it is in gtav, also remove tuning for online and let every car to be unlocked

And the reason being for that was half way through development the dev team making it got kicked off and another one took over giving them very little time to polish and ship a complete package. GT7 shows no signs of that at all. Very few bugs game running smoothly for the majority of people. Yet because they patch stuff after launch it’s unfinished?🤣 Games will never not have bugs so don’t expect bug free experiences because you aren’t going to get them. So in what way is GT7 unfinished?
