Samurai is just such an alien. lol and with a pad as well... can't wait to get home from work and crack on again it's so addictive!!

Same here, roll on 16:30! Need to learn how to drive on the wheel once and for all, looking to hit at least a 31.xxx laptime today.

Nice! I have to agree too, such a breath of fresh air having a new track. Motegi is a personal fave of mine and the layout including those cones is so challenging! Love it... Just wish we could race it already :D

Just bested my own time to a 1:32.369

Not sure I can go faster but the breakdown gives me hope...

Sector One +0.348
Sector Two +0.401
Sector Three +0.430

Almost seems doable. Though it is curious as to why all three sectors are pretty much .4 down.. hmm. Thats either a funny coincidence, something I'm doing wrong fundamentaly (ie the difference between a Div1 Gold and Div2 Bronze) or at least in part due to steering assist?

Thoughts appreciated, more effort necessary! :D

how do you get sector times up i am not getting any currently 32.9 lot of work to do

Seeing as I'm using a pad I gave myself a target of reaching the 1.32s. I just recorded my best lap and it turned out to be 1.33.001...bugger. :grumpy:

Oh well, I'll get there one day. :)

what settings are you guys running steering wise ie am pro sim ff power on or off??????????

For eveyone whos asking all I did was to save my own fast lap and the regions best fast lap. If you watch them back in the replay viewer on main menu you can swtich to live timing in replay and view sector times one and two. Sector 3 is your overall time minus sections one and two and if you do the same for the regions best you will see a comparison for your results. Simple 👍

As for steering settings mine are pretty limited. I only have DFGT so I think the only option there is FFB. I always set it to maximum in every game since to me at least it feels like I'm getting more information. And if there is a different setting then always go SIM 👍

Finding this whole active steering debate quite funny, for me personally I dont use normally use AS. When I started up this GTA combo, I couldnt seem to keep the car in a straight line through the fast the chicane.

So I thought I would see if turn AS would change anything as I have seen people use it before in seasonal TT's, and it helped massivley. It just seems to help stabilize the car through the fast sections and on the exit.

The one downside to it is that hitting the apex is alot harder, especially the last 2 corners so thats why when watching replays you will a slight drift to get the car to rotate and then the short shift. For me its the quicker steering set up for this combo, so why not use it.

Just finished my first serious session and I got a 1:33.514.
Currently 250th in France and 2724th in the World.
All aids off except ABS 1.
I tried Active Steering on Strong during several laps but it didn't seem to change much.
I'll give it another try tomorrow.

My goal for now is to go under 1.33 but with the pad it's kinda hard.

I can't believe that samurai guy with his 1.31.028 !
The man is an alien! And you say it's with a pad ? Damn...

MY first serious session on the 8-5 during one hour. 107 in my region.

I had the 2nd global as gost (a belgian). even though it's nearly 1:31:071. There is still plenty of room.
Already in the first corner I catch up with him (he beeing faster on the strait). I predict a 1:29:9.. at the end of the comp.

Still getting a hang of the circuit. Today a sub 100 is more than possible. after dinner of course.

That chicane is a nightmare , it can pretty much make or break a good lap. I find the corner after that tricky aswell but overall I was losing the most time in sector 1. I tried using AS for a few laps but I've yet to see any benifit from it, but maybe I just need more practice with AS on as I don't really use it either.

So far it's a fun combo in my opinion, aslong as don't load up your ghost and try to keep up . I Just stick to racing my own ghost now :P, anyway goodluck GTP'ers may the force be with you :D.

I was 2 tenths up my ghost to make 31.6 twice, only to get too nervous and screw it all up in the second to last corner :ill: When I finally improved my time, it was 0.001s faster. I chuckled a bit lol

It's quite strange that "my region" restricts the view to "my country", which is massively misleading in terms of where you stand in terms of the spots for going through to the next round as Austria does not have its own finals obviously.

I'm up to 10th in Austria, but overall ca. 750th. Where am I in Europe - no idea, and no way to find out apparently.

Just had another session, big positives to take out of it, lost around .25 in the 2 corners but still did a .360, just been through the sector one times and i was 0.05 on samurai and 0.1 on twissy, just let it get to me when i was about .7 up on a 31.7 ghost lap, o well not to annoyed still early days, enjoying the combo.

Yeah sector 1 is a bit tricky to get right.. Then when you finally do, its hard to hold it together for the rest of the lap:scared:. I still have a couple of tenths I know I can find, hopefully I will see a couple more during that journey.

As for the AS, I switch back and forth. I also switch views for sessions as well. Just something to break it up and keep it "fresh." My current time is set with AS on but is only .05 faster than my current AS off time. My next improvement might be with AS or might be without.

I have no doubt that the people with good times with AS on, would also easily set fast times with it off. It would be nice if it was just removed, so it wasn't such a mystery as to which way to run. But as to overall leaderboard, I don't think much is effected.

Sub 100 achieved after few rounds after my post above, since then no luck in getting it straight.

I know I have still some huge gaps that I can correct. Now at 97th in regional. In my country I am 8th

This TT is so competitive. Everyone seems to be improving a tiny bit every few of hours. Any predictions for the Top 16 cut off? I feel a 31.1xx/2 would be about right. Can't see 16 of us getting a 30.999 but then again it's probably too early to predict.

Cheers :) It's pretty tough isn't it. How have you progressed over the last 2 days?

It tough alright, Played after midnight on day 1 only good for 1:32.7 or so.
Playing just now down to a 1:32.1, I reckon I can get under 1:32 tonight.
Seriously competitive this year. The margin is going to be so slim. Top 16 within 2 tenths? maybe less

EDIT: was there a time removed from top 10? Onedy Dandy or something?

Indeed. We'll see how things pan out over the next few days to get a clearer picture. I wouldn't worry if you can't get the time you want tonight, I find going at it with a clear head the next day is much better than fighting at it when you're tired.

LoL, yeah. The first session, my head was melted and I was just pissed.
Seeing how fast everyone was going within 2 hours?

Im actually driving real smooth right now, will do 30 minutes more.

Best of luck with improving anyway. Hope to see yourself and Dave creeping in over the next few days :)

Any tips for the 4/5 chicane or is it just pure luck getting the turn in right and missing the cone by mm?

You have to take a risk and gun it, just make sure the left hander before the chicane you try and keep as far left to make it as straight as possible. Easier said than done, but it pays off you can find yourself a chunk of time.

Some cracking times from some of you guys on here, fairplay.

Very competitive out there generally, too. Was ranked in the 40's at the end of Monday, but bumped down to 100 when I logged on yesterday. Managed to shave a couple of tenths off my time down to a 1.32.3xx but that only got me back up as high as 70-something!

Tried a couple of things last night - shortshifting up to 3rd / leaving it in 3rd rather than changing down into 2nd and that seemed to help. The lap seems to be made/lost in the first 4/5 corners - slow in fast out is definitely the approach! There seem to be a number of different approaches to taking the last corner too, which is interesting.

Well it is chained together with the 2nd and 3rd turn. Take the 2nd a bit slower, get to the right , take the 3rd corner near the cones and stay left, and then 4th and 5th can be cut through.

Sounds easy but it ain't. It's the most difficult part because they hang togehter. Loose too much time in the 2nd and lost. Go to fast to the 2nd and the rest will be hard to get a proper pass through....

The track seems easy, but it is way more technical than Daytona

oh what a night, came home from work went on gt5 about 11.00 pm thought i try the last round. first thoughts oh my god the car felt slow and fat could not break a 1.40 even though i got a 1.39 in high, something was wrong i know that im better then this so checked me set up and had the active stability turned on.so anyway turned it off and then the fun started, 1.36 then 1.35 well after about 2hours done a 1.33.8 which at that point put me 582 in the world cant tell you how pleased i was with that i got no wheel just stick :) now for then 1.32s

Down to a 01.32.058 and 10th overall in Belgium. Think I lost about .2 in the first corner so I hope to get into the 31's in the next couple of days. But I reckon it'll be difficult to reach the national finals this year :guilty:
Oh, and those cones in that fast chicane, they are driving me crazy !!!! :banghead:

1.33.8 which at that point put me 582 in the world

What?

I have 1:33:545 and I was as last night 3400th something in global.
?????

Manuelos: Some crazy times in our region. Sadly only 8 places to fill for 2 countries (when you look how many spots other countries are getting  ). I hope at least on Luxemburger will be able to snatch one of those spots. Will try to play everyday a few laps to continue improving and at least make a nice stand in the top 20. i had Arno's gost yesterday. Crazy pace the guy is pushing... Good luck to you
