Thanks man!
Just did a 33.919. :D

EDIT: The MyGranTurismo rankings are a bit flawed, guess it's only for registered users there?
Only 8 German pad drivers... nah.

It only has access to the top 5000 people, so there are only 8 German pad drivers in the top 5000. No need to be registered.

Okay makes sense.
Still a lot of room to improve my time, but I think I might be able to slip into the top 5k.
At least I'm 2nd best on my friendslist. :D

Another tenth off (.5 now), and annoyingly I just yelled out in fury as I hit the last cone on the last corner exit as I was about to get a 31 dead.... Very VERY annoying. Although I love this car now it's annoying at the same time but the control you need to get a good time i do enjoy!

The lap if your interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeWh4Z03g-8

I expect to achieve my qualifying time this weekend as I don't work weekends and I can actually have a go without having been at work all day and commuting for 2+ hours!

:) I feel your pain - I uttered a few expletives last night, and that's just trying to break out of the 1.32's!

So tight on the leaderboard now - managed to improve again last night by 1/10th but that didn't even break me into the top 100 again. That said, I know, know, know I have a 1.31xxx in me. Tried a different approach to turn 2 last night which allows me to carry more speed, but, as ever, its putting the rest of the lap together which matters.

I still can't decide on the best line through the last corner. I'm pretty sure it is basically the "driving line" though.

Love the track / car combo though - gets really technical when you are working with the small margins between a 1.31 and 1.32!

Finally broke into the 1.31s last night. The problem I have is getting too frustrated when playing it for too long and end up making lots of mistakes. I seem to set my best times when I've only just started playing within 10 runs. Will have to work on keeping it together mentally to get the lap.

Going on holiday today until Monday so 4 days away from the game, am hoping that I'll come back relaxed and able to up my time.

I wish that PD would set up a similar kind of time trial in GT5. It's a lot of fun trying to set lap times and comparing with others with the same equipment and no tuning. I don't usually bother too much with the seasonal time trials because of this reason

Tidgney, if I was you and I lived where you live - I would go down to the wild card event this weekend. Knowing what those things are like, I can guarantee you'd qualify if you turned up.

Did a 1 hour stint this morning and made a good impovement. First down to a 31.8, and finally did a 01.31.679. Puts me 5th in Belgium, only 0.006 away from 3rd place

Nice 👍

Had a 2 hour session yesterday evening, only managed to improve from 31.798 to a 31.744 :banghead:

Still more time to be found though :)

Are you old enough to qualify mate? I hate this 18 + age rule

Only 17 in July :( I don't know why they have the rule, I'm guessing its so they know you'll have some real life driving experience, but I have quite a bit of that so... :(

Nice!! Same for Race_LP

I'm bertvw on the belgium list, 18th yesterday with a 32.0xx or smth...
Indeed lots of time to be gained.

But something else crossed my mind. We are together with the Netherlands and Luxembourg... But the top 16 is almost only Belgian, maybe even top 32 only 2 people from the Netherlands. Will they divide them per country? Or will they throw these 3 country's together and pick the top 32 alltogether?

Was a bit hard yesterday to realise i'm very close if it would be the second system...

Greetings fellow racers, now off to some more timetrialling

^As I understood their agreement, it's 16 places for the Benelux together.

But NL has 8 places of their own. And Belgium and Luxemburg share the rest of the 8 places.
So you need to be in the top 8 to continue in the academy.

Nice to see GTP members in the top8 though.

Thats a great shame man, your fast enough. I can see in your profile picture what appears to be a junior max kart? I have a senior max myself, great fun to drive them things.

You may be right and I know a few that are going (Friends) so I'll just see this weekend, if the weathers shocking I'll not head there but you may be right with that, although either way at the moment I'm not to worried about not qualifying at the moment :)!

I'll start Panicing on Saturday if I can't get my lap nailed down, as I know the only reason I don't have a 31 dead at the moment is just from working all day, 6am-7pm I'm commuting or working so it's alot to ask to then be right to put in that perfect lap :P. I know with previous rounds I have come to a fun round on the saturday already knew my braking, acceleration and turn in points and such that within about 10-30 minutes I've nailed a quality time as I've been far more awake :D!

Just doing mine, can only get silver so far, 0.109 of gold..i can do the first half of the lap fine but in the second half im all over the place a bit..

Yes it is, been karting for 5 years now, hoping to go up to one of the lower formula series next year, but there are only a few "cheap" series out there. Where abouts do you race?

Cant seem to set a good time on the wheel i got. just as fast with the controller how annoying

Use the controller if you are faster with it, you can always practice with the wheel later if you qualify. Lots of guys on here are quick with both and some are setting their fastest times with the pad. There are very few that will knock a quick pad driver/time and tbh those that do don't know any better :)

I am trying to say that to myself ;)

Def. the weekend after a good sleep a better round should follow. At least I hope :nervous::crazy:

I wonder how many of all these will be disqulified because of smoking pot. The probable test they will use can trace back to 3 months if you smoked regulary. Or are under prescripted meds.

hey guys, i have a question cause of the rules...

Quote of the rules:
To enter this Competition, Entrants must...not have competed at the Race Camp Stage (or equivalent or similar stages) in any previous GT Academy competition.

So, that means if i make it to the national finals this year and get eliminated there, i can compete next year again? If i make it to the race camp and get eliminated there i can not compete next year... is this right?

thx for help!

I wouldn't bet your house on what's gonna happen last year. If you remember this year Turbo was reporting that everyone could enter regardless of their performance last year. Maybe if they spend more time televising top 32(or whichever it is in your country) they would feel that those at the national finals have already received too much exposure to be invited back. (And i think it's "exposure" based because as far as i understand top 16 of 2011 will be eligible to compete in 2013 since PD feels it's a sufficient time frame for them to be forgotten;P)

No one knows what Nissan or Sony going to do next year. They might change the rules again, like they did before.

Down to a 1'31.196, 4th in the UK, 2-3 days ago i was reasonably often threatining doing .0 times which at the time wouldve been the fastest in the UK. As PaulJ says im now doing the same as him because ive been over playing it last couple of days. Having a fresh mind to start with i was more consistant playing a max of 1 hour 30 a day but now after playing 2-3 hour sessions im geting annoyed and not helping myself. Only because i love the game so much, im ultra competitive and very determined. So going to give it a few days off i think, come back with a fresh mind and then see how good i can do this year, even though the last tenth or 2 will not make any difference i just want to see what i can do for personal pride, rather than leave it like last year and to just make it in the end. Rough calculations stringing the corners together there is a high 1'30.8 but doing that seems quite unlikely ATM, still not half way through yet so im expecting a few names to come through yet.
If anybody is up for practicing on GT5, same car on different tracks, or using a GTR/any nissan, as id like to practise for the final (if i were to get through-16 to get through from a shorter and in my opinion easier combo i think it will be closer than ever) more than last 2 years as i was just hopeless and also have barely touched GT in around 12 months, PSN-markyboy92, will happily practise with anybody time-trial or racing.

Nice time markyboy.

I've got to give it a rest for a few days too. I've got a company meal / night out tomorrow and a friends BBQ / night out on Saturday. (Expect to be hungover on Sunday) - so the weekend is going to be a waste as far as hot lapping.

Thing I'm starting to notice now is that the top times are bunching up a bit. Quite frustrating feeling that I know I can do about 4 tenths at least faster, just keep messing last 2 up or last corner ... I'm all over the ghost throughout the whole lap, then lose it at the end, I'm unsure the best way to take the last hairpin when completing the hot lap.

When I start the lap I take a wide line and cross start finish around 101 ... when I end the lap, I'm only crossing the start at 99 mph and I notice the ghost leave me by a few tenths before hitting the line.
