No one knows what Nissan or Sony going to do next year. They might change the rules again, like they did before.

k, but the guys that made it to the national finals last year can compete this year again, and the guys that made it to the race camp can't, right?

Nice time markyboy.

Quite frustrating feeling that I know I can do about 4 tenths at least faster, just keep messing last 2 up or last corner ... I'm all over the ghost throughout the whole lap, then lose it at the end, I'm unsure the best way to take the last hairpin when completing the hot lap.

When I start the lap I take a wide line and cross start finish around 101 ... when I end the lap, I'm only crossing the start at 99 mph and I notice the ghost leave me by a few tenths before hitting the line.

Yeah this last corner seems to kill a lot of people, including me. Its really frustrating to be in front of the top ghosts and then throw everything away last corner.

Worst thing is that i get scared more and more and this doesn't make it easier to hit the spot on this corner. Im just so nervous driving to it that i throw it away every time... :nervous:

0.030 Improvement to a 01.31.649. Jumped from 7th to 5th in the Belgium/Luxembourg ranking. But oh boy, it's going to be a tight finish for the top 8
Differnce between spot 3 & 8 is less than 0.1 :scared:

And I've read on antother board that current global leader "Amo_Racing87", won't be participating in the national final ...

Heh. We're certainly lucky in Austria. Such a small country and we get 16 (time trial)+16(events) national final spots (and then 2 guaranteed advancing to Race Camp).

That also means that the cut-off will most likely be the slowest time of all you can qualify with. Which also gives people like me a chance.

Currently 12th with a 32.178, but I've also only put about 1.5 hours in so far. If I can piece together something close to my best sectors, I can see myself going down to 31.7's or so, which currently would even be enough for 4th.

Unlucky Twissy. Make sure to backup your saves if you do get it running.

Anyway, ran a second session on this yesterday. Had sort of a good consistent speed and was hoping that one lap it would go all right but that lap never came. It was quite funny as I improved quite a few times my time and when it went to update, I saw I was losing places to people. I did quite a lot of laps in the .6XX and .5XX and most either had a poor first half of the lap or poor 2nd half of the lap or mediocre throughout which is my current lap I think.

I will take a break from it (Might not be able to resist temptation of doing the odd lap ;)) and see nearer the deadline what the cut off will be. It looks like a time of .1XX might be borderline but it might not be as there is still quite a few fast people yet to do a lap. I think everyone is probably in the same boat that they probably have potential to do a time faster than the current world record time if it all goes as plans but most likely we won't so .0XX and .1XX might be needed if everyone knocking on that door hooks up a decent lap. I think an alien time would have to be around a mid 30.5.

Hopefully there is wild card events near me, might be a better chance of making it to the finals especially if there is a winner per day of the length of the event.

Someone should compile a list of who's not eligible/not participating in the nationals

I saw you improving last night Saidur :) well done with your times!! I would say a Time of a 31.0 will guarentee qualification. You are right though I think people are just waiting for that magical lap as really from what I can see there's only a few corners where the tenths are really won or lost and the rest are minor.

I only improved slightly last night although I was literally falling asleep, I was knocked out the instant my head hit the pillow lol :P. But I also tried Active steering for 30 minutes last night, I do see why people use it, and you'll see the fastest lap without it for sure, but with it brings that ever sense of consistency which is why constant improvements do occurr. If I don't get my magic lap this weekend, I may go to that just for consistency purposes and to make sure I qualify as I'll be a little more worried if I don't get my magic lap this weekend!

I even matched your time before setting my current fastest lap. It was really a quick spell of being on it consistently. I tried active steering for a few laps on my first session. I think Mild is usable, Strong just ruins the senses completely for me. I think I'm certainly faster without it on this combo and quite consistent now, if I ran with active steering I would be bored and too frustrated with it to improve. I think some of the top guys are probably handicapping themselves as the car is very well balanced.

I might need to get some driving gloves, anyone else hands get sore? I might lower the FFB for next session whenever that may be.

I'm trying to break into the 1:31.xxx. I'm at 1:32.001 at the moment, currently 67th UK/Ireland. The UK/Ireland group seems to be very competitive. I took a look at the Russian group and saw that I'd comfortably be in the top 5 at the moment. Think I might move to Russia for GTAcademy '13. lol

You're lucky you're not in France :P

I'm close to giving up, there seems to be only one way to drive to get a fast time and I am to set in my smooth ways to throw the car around.

I saw, I saw :), Your doing amazing this year and fully expect to see you at the finals if I make it :) (My proper go at this happens tomorrow :P).

On the driving gloves, I do use my racing gloves occasionally because the leather on my wheel has worn and the stitch rubs into my thumb, if you want to get some then I guess its worth it to reduce the pain :)!

Well im staggered, nuked my PS3 for 20 mins with a hair dryer and let it cool it works again, rannndom! :)

Thanks, hopefully I will make it, will be good to experience the pressure of the finals and build on that for following years if I do badly in it.

I am slowly dropping down the order, was 9th when set time, now 12th and probably will be 16th or less tomorrow so I think it will require a lap where everything goes right. Quite a high chance of that happening, if I can spend more time on this and knock on that door. Good thing about this year is you don't have to waste time either going backwards at the start or wasting the 1st lap. Will see what you manage tomorrow, maybe potential top in UK with your determination. Good luck 👍.

I will probably end up doing without regarding driving gloves. My G27 is quite new but stitch rubs into my thumb also. I have never really had this problem before, I think that is probably due to running low force feedback before but for round 1 I put it on maximum and kept it at that. Will experiment with lower FFB levels next time I try. Might check out the .9XX laps now as I've yet to see them, then watch England game.

It's probably been asked to death already, but how many people go to the regional finals? I know it's 32 in the US, but i've been hearing 20 for the UK.

Because I don't think I can realistically make the top 20, but I think I could just about manage ~30th if I put the hours in (Providing the times around there don't tumble too much of course)

16 people for the UK/Ireland :)

So there are 16 wildcard event places in addition to 16 from the time trial?

I'm still going to give it a go, but I think the top 16 will be out of reach by the end. I estimate a 1'31.2xx should be enough to get through in the UK, maybe a few 1'31.3xx times will slip in. Right now, I think i'm around 6-7 tenths from my maximum which will still leave me a few tenths short (Current time being a 1'32.4xx with 2 obvious mistakes and an average turn 1).

This competition, it's far too competitive!

Why is that?
He says he's only driving to have fun and to compare himself with the others. It's in french but this is what he said:

"je n'ai pas fais la final en 2010, et je ne la ferais pas non plus cet année. Je fais ça pour le plaisir et pour me comparer, voilà le principal est dis"

Then he also says:

je vais envoyer un pote a ma place logiquement

Wich means he wants to send a friend of him in his place to the final ... ?!
I presume thats not allowed doing so?!

You're lucky you're not in France :P

Yes, I just took a look at that. You currently need a 1:31.3xx to be in the top 16 in France and a 1:31.5 to be in the top 16 UK/Ireland:nervous:

How about we rent a house together in Russia next year:idea:

Guess I'll just have to improve my driving instead =o)
