Sounds to me like you've done all you can do. I recommend quitting now and just standing on your current time, I'm sure it'll be good enough.

:sly:

Lol. I've been about .3 up on my time through the first half of the track only to butcher the second. I know I have at least a .1 in me. I go back to work tomorrow so I'd really like to lay it down today.

There's just always been a higher level of grip for me after a couple laps. Hard to explain other than just having no grip.

I noticed the same thing almost immediately. The only part I don't understand, is my lap times don't improve. The car feels better, it sticks better, just by the way it goes around the track I expect to pick up like .500, but when I cross the line I am always disappointed. Every fast time I've set on 8-5 so far has been on the first lap.

I've never really played GT5, but back when I played A-spec in college, I used to LOVE the 2hr endurance races. I noticed in those as well (with soft tires, to get the fastest lap times obviously), my first lap or two was warm up, laps 3-6 or so were by far my best times, and then it would start falling off.

It might be that even though the tires are sticking better, I'm still driving like they are cold, so I'm not using all the advantage that's there. But I definitely notice that I can move my braking points deeper in the corner, and the car doesn't understeer quite as bad. Probably ought to stop driving in harder so I can use that grip to drive off harder.

My current time was set with cold tires.

I was trying to judge if there's a difference by looking at my speed crossing the S/F line, and I've never seen a speed any faster on hot tires than I can get on cold tires.

I finally tested it, and it was just in my head. After doing laps you just get your flow goin'. Watching the top ghost replays with the 31 flats, you can see that they're doing their runs on their first lap, with their front tires still dark blue.

Does it do that on everyones replay though? Could be a replay glitch.

I'm going to be updating this spreadsheet to keep track of how the top 32 cutoff time is changing overtime, to hopefully give a better idea of what the final cutoff time is going to be:

The first two data points are kind of from memory, and not exact, but from now on if I see that it's changed I will update the graph.

I finally figured out a little better technique now. I was ahead of first in US by a whole car after s turns somehow then i got nervous and completely blew the next right hander which is my best turn on course lol. But i did manage to knock off a little time on my previous best lap im down to a 31.605 i know for sure i got a .4 in me easy now.

esh
I agree with this whether it's based in reality or not, but also doing continuous laps is better to me instead of having to restart every time you hit a cone or whatever. I wish there was a better system than resetting the track every time and closer to GT5 with red lap times.
Yeah, I would like to have it work that way... Hit a cone, DQ's lap time.. you still get to finish the lap. Hit two cones, maybe a DQ for your next lap. Fine...
It can be hard when you don't even think you've hit a cone and it breaks your rhythm.
Then again my times are nothing to hurrah about.

If you look at the top times in the seasonal time trials, almost everytime everyone in the top 10 gets their fastest laps on cold tires.

Edit: The DS3 user who got into the finals last year, L_Harrison has passed me. I must get back the title of having the fastest DS3 time.

Don't forget that ~9 out of the top 32 are not eligible. You may want to look at the people who went to silverstone last year and "let_canada_in" and exclude them. This would then change where the cut off is placed.

Yeah, I didn't forget, but I'm too lazy to put forth that much effort.

Edit: Also, by my count, only I only see 2 Silverstone finalists in the current top 32. (EERS4YEARS == Appalachian_Kris, right?)

Negative, two different peeps. EERS just barely missed the cutoff last year.

Edit: I only see 1 Silverstone finalist in the top 32.

Yeah, my count of 2 was assuming those were the same people. I dunno why I thought they were, my bad.

If you count the top 40, then there's 4 Silverstone guys.

Made a bit of progress today. Hit a 1.31.444. This was also on my first lap cold tires just like all my other times I have set been.

I swear using a ds3 is sometimes better than a wheel. 30mph around a light corner on the wheel and you either spin out or the car don't wanna turn. But at speed the slightest touch reacts perfect.

Makes a good run go to hell when the wheel won't do anything, even though you got it spun 360+ degrees.

Pfft, you guys gotta be more than happy now. Who knows, maybe it just wasn't your time yet ;]

I think you are right, it wasn't my time. I was meant to wait a year so I could experience this competition with my BRO-mantic clubmate, TRC Scooty! Hope to reunite with u in Orlando man.

Wouldn't it be sweet if we went head to head in the final race at Silverstone? Fat chance I know but its still cool to think about. =)

Haha, that would be epic. It's been a long time man, but bromance is forever! :P Really hope we both at least make it to Orlando, a week in silverstone would just be icing on the cake. Maybe they'd let us make bunk beds!?!?

Then you guys can play ninja also. Hopefully I get to meet you two in person myself. I wanna meet the guy that beats me for stuff in the other game all the time.

It's not on the dl if you talk about it.

Its funny how a 1:31.7 gives us the feeling of being so much slower than a 1:31.2 when in reality its barely the blink of an eye lol but on the leaderboard it looks like eternity!
