Hey guys, I think it's high time someone made a "GTA US coverage thread." This can also be used as the central area for people to discuss the competition as it happens.

I would, but it wouldn't be fair since I'm not going to be able to update as best as I should, too busy racing whadaya know.

So, who wants to volunteer?

I started to make one yesterday, and changed my mind for a couple reasons:

1) Wasn't sure I was allowed to update during the event. (had no idea how public it will be this year)
2) I'm to lazy to update all day.

Just met up with Rich, now heading over to the Hard Rock for Racer X. Man, San Diego really has my kind of weather.

Rich decided to go out for the wild-card?

That's fantastic! GL man I know you've got it in you. 👍

So, is there a poll somewhere so we can vote for who we think the top 16 will be?

Have all the competitors made it in ok?

Mid to low 70's all weekend! Stoked for that.

That's why I love San Diego. :D

So this is your first time visiting Vegas Wardez?

It's a another cool city in the West Coast, just without a body of water and more hangovers . If you plan to visit back here, just have a wad of cash for the slots and tables.

Good luck to all. :)👍

Good luck to everyone in the US finals. It's been a pleasure racing with those of you who've been in the GTA practice lobby.

I'm slightly confused by the US final format, though. The article on the front-page says '... 16 of these drivers will survive in the competition, advancing to the GT Academy Boot Camp in Silverstone ...' and then it goes on to describe the elimination process in which 17 drivers are eliminated. Is the US national final solely based on GT5 races or do they do any fitness tests and actual driving as well? And does the US competition run as a completely separate competition, with a separate race camp and overall winner?

We are immediately going into a qualifying round with one out lap and a quali lap with the last person on the time sheet going home which makes it an even 32 (was 33 with Racer X). Then we start the elimination rounds :nervous:

Wow so one of the 33 will get eliminated without even doing a single race? That would be a bit of a let down to fly all the way there and have that happen. I feel for you guys.

Good luck guys! Remember slow in fast out; don't blow your whole lap in the braking zone of turn 1.

Also, forget the cameras and media.

Best of luck!

Wardez, they aren't having everyone wear matching shirts for the filming of the competition?

It's supposed to have started at 6.30 UK time. I'm interested to see the event and have been refreshing the page for the last half hour, but still nothing.
