I have a little trick with the ghosts if you find them distracting. Turn you map all the way to like 1 or 2, so that you see very little of the track. Turn off your ghost and you will no longer see it on the track. However, if you look at the map you can tell if your behind or ahead, and don't have to worry about it popping up at the worst moment!

Hope it may help

I use a Logitech Driving Force Pro with the bungie mod. All assists off except ABS 1. Bumper cam (cockpit screenshake makes me nauseous). I like to use headphones because I can hear my tires better. If they aren't chirping then I'm not driving hard enough!

The only tip I have is to keep practicing! I am not the most talented driver, I don't have the natural ability that these other freaks have. I get my speed by putting in the work.

Oh yeah, race ghosts. It really shows you where you are losing time. For example, I raced Choate's ghost on Cape and found out that he was half a second quicker than me in the first section. So I watched his replay and took note of his speed through corners and his accelerating and braking so I could see what he was doing that made him so much faster.

Good advice. Thanks for the help guys.👍

I have my ghost button bound to the RB button on my wheel for easy access. I keep it off most of the time, but I flash it on after I go through a crucial corner or section to see where the ghost is in relation to me. Its great when I hit the ghost button and he pops up in my rearview instead of in front of me!

Midwest region for me. My main goal is to get through the first round. Getting past that will be much tougher I suspect. Also, I've got 60 golds on the licenses but haven't posted it on your list yet. I'll go do that now.

Nashville Indiana, heck yeah man. Nice to someone from around these parts on here. I think I have 25 golds or something like that. I thought the last license was the easiest lol.

I noticed you were from Columbus. In all the years I've been racing GT I've never seen anyone else that close, that's pretty cool! Also noticed how fast you are, those are some impressive times you've put down! I'll send you a friends request tonight when I fire up the PS3.

Thanks for the kind words. I only did a small display of my lawnmowing abilities. Bring the request on, it's always nice to meet others from the area.

I'm in the Northeast; have 60 golds on licenses (but didn't know about that thread until now, so my name isn't up there yet... photo of profile screen is on my GTP profile). Competing because I want to be a real race car driver. Not the fastest GT player, but have racing school experience, so my goal is just to get to Silverstone. Using a DFGT wheel because that's what they're going to use in the head-to-head round

West region for me..I haven't raced GT since GT3 on the PS2. I was pumped when I found out 5 was finally coming out and there was a competition. I may not be the fastest yet but it damn sure ain't from trying. Logging few hrs in everyday..slowly coming back to me.

Midwest region here... i was in the top ten at one point but right now am around 15th. I have been very busy lately with work (and university has started) and still need to find time at cape. I am really annoyed with the braking on the g27 and how GT5 does not let you calibrate it. So i am almost thinking about getting a DFGT that i would promptly sell after this is all over lol... anyone else thinking that?
